The Accountability Model
 Description of Accountability Model
The Mississippi’s education system’s accountability model is a very useful model which is a
driving force as it helps in indicating the success of the students, teachers, school, and district. It
is having a grading scale based on which performance is measured starting from A to F.
This system is a way to identify how well the students are performing in school. For school or
district grades, it is essential to understand that several factors are being accounted for, like
whether students are showing improvement in the tests on a year-to-year basis. It also states how
well the school is helping the lowest-achieving students to achieve proficiency.
 Difference between 700-point and a 100-point scales
The 700-point scale for the elementary and the middle schools involves reading, math, science,
and the progress in English language while the 1000-point scale is for schools and districts and is
having subjects like reading, math, and other subjects which includes science and history,
graduation, acceleration, college, and career readiness and lastly English language progress
(Mississippi Accountability Communication Toolkit. 2021).
The is also the difference in respect to indicators involved in the both the points. As in the 1000-
point scale, performance and participation are taken into consideration which accounts for the
23.75 pts which is not so in the case of the 700point scale.

Another point of difference between the two-scale is the points for the progress for proficiency.
In the case of the 700-points scale, it is only 35 points while in 1000-points is 50 points.
 Teacher Impact on Accountability Model
The teacher has the direct impact on the success of the students in the classroom and in growth in
career. The methods used by teachers in teaching students help in knowing the performance of
the student and involves the responsibility for meeting the higher performance standards.
Teachers are the ones responsible for maintaining a learning environment in the class and
implement a structure and creating a positive interaction that provides a foundation for effective
teaching.
 Discussion Related to Future Educator
To attain success as a future educator, the first step that is required to be undertake is to know the
strength and weaknesses of the students and identifying what makes students struggle in
attaining higher performance.
Monthly based tests are required to be taken which helps to know the performance of the
students so that timely actions can be taken. Also, this results in further improving the
performance of the students.
This will result in effectively supporting the accountability model which will depict the expected
students’ performance in the class and supports the gaining of better insights into the student’s
strong subjects.

 A personal reflection on Accountability Model
The accountability model is designed for all students, teachers, schools, and districts which
results in gaining better insight into the performance of each of these through the way of the
grading system. Thus, in my opinion, it has helped in improving the state’s academic growth. It
will assist in knowing the areas of strengths and weaknesses in all the aspects leading to
undertaking a relevant set of actions in the given timeframe.
