Description of Accountability Model
The Mississippi’s education system’s accountability model is a very useful model which is a
driving force as it helps in indicating the success of the students, teachers, school, and district. It
is having a grading scale based on which performance is measured starting from A to F.
This system is a way to identify how well the students are performing in school. For school or
district grades, it is essential to understand that several factors are being accounted for, like
whether students are showing improvement in the tests on a year-to-year basis. It also states how
well the school is helping the lowest-achieving students to achieve proficiency.
Difference between 700-point and a 100-point scales
The 700-point scale for the elementary and the middle schools involves reading, math, science,
and the progress in English language while the 1000-point scale is for schools and districts and is
having subjects like reading, math, and other subjects which includes science and history,
graduation, acceleration, college, and career readiness and lastly English language progress
(Mississippi Accountability Communication Toolkit. 2021).
The is also the difference in respect to indicators involved in the both the points. As in the 1000-
point scale, performance and participation are taken into consideration which accounts for the
23.75 pts which is not so in the case of the 700point scale.
