Discussion
The one imperative concept I picked from the principal's presentation was accountability.
Through the presentation, I realized that accountability is the most essential element in any
organization. As a future leader, I learned that I must incorporate not only accountability but
shared accountability as it fuels success. Likewise, I recognized that accountability is not the
responsibility of one person but it is the responsibility of every individual linked to an
organization. For instance, in a school set up as Principal Anderson portrayed accountability is
the responsibility of parents, teachers, principal, society, and students (Anderson, 2012). This
meant accountability cannot be achieved single-handedly. Moreover, it was interesting to learn
that there are forms of accountability such as outcome-based which educators use then they
ignore other forms of accountability (Mishra, A. S. (2017).). Therefore, it was evident that shared
accountability was the most effective as it entailed peer observations and all members being part
of the decision-making team.
Principal Anderson presentation and the film were enthusiastic they enabled me to learn
the importance of accountability in leadership such as strengthening organization culture, it
breeds excellence, it ensures ownership because it results to a highly competent and productive
team (Glickman, Gordon, 2018). Besides, accountability builds trust, set the expectations of an
organization, it empowers the organization team, it assists in achieving common goals and lastly
it aids in defining the companies or organizations mission.
As a prospective administrator, I gained a lot from the principal's presentation. The
presentation made me cognizant that as an administrator I am responsive and the steer as well as
the role model of my employees. This I must ensure by taking charge and delegating duties to

my subordinate employees so that accountability is shared and not left for the administrator
alone.
My leadership practice can be developed through the principal's speech because it taught
me significant traits of a leader which can ensure success. The traits include being open-minded,
respect, and wisdom to understand situations. Thus, if I deploy these potential traits I am
confident that I will emerge a successful administrator. Also, l will work tirelessly by
empowering my team and ensuring they have a positive environment which is conducive for
their work by issuing incentives like overtime payment, paid sick leaves and promotions to
hardworking employees. I will also ensure I treat employees equally so that some do not feel
inadequate and also put more focus on employees for a fruitful outcome. This presentation
reminded me the essentiality of collaboration, teamwork, setting a proper mission and
incorporating everybody in the decision-making process as the major way of achieving
accountability, thus I will ensure I strengthen these aspects in the organization so that I become a
successful leader.
In conclusion, this reflection has acted as a stepping stone to me, because I not only
learned that accountability is the most essential facet of organization leadership but I also learned
other facets such as ensuring we provide of quality services, addressing different populace,
setting goals, initiating action plans, organizing employees, coordination, improving morale and
motivation, providing direction and being the link between the management and workers. Hence,
through this unit, I am confident that my dream of being a future successful leader will be
achieved because the reflection gave me the platform to pour out my thoughts on my vision of
becoming a future successful leader.
