This accounting research project delves into the financial practices of ten ASX-listed companies, examining accounting issues and corporate social responsibility (CSR) through the lens of annual reports. The project critically analyzes relevant accounting theories, such as the matching and cost principle theories, alongside CSR frameworks like stakeholder theory and business ethics. It identifies research methodologies, primarily empirical research, and investigates qualitative data extracted from the annual reports. The findings highlight accounting challenges, including asset valuation issues and the importance of double-entry systems and accounting standards. The project concludes that addressing these accounting issues is crucial for the companies' financial health and emphasizes the importance of integrating social responsibility into accounting practices. The research also considers qualitative data and methodologies for investigating and mitigating the issues, with the ultimate goal of improving financial reporting and corporate governance.
