INTRODUCTION
Academic skills are mainly the abilities, the strategies as well as the habits which support
the success of the learner in a specific academic setting in particular (Hosan. and Hoglund.,
2017). They basically help the overall development of the students and also support them in the
development of their skills like literacy and also in the technical subjects such as science and
mathematics in particular. The overall aspect of the academic skills is mainly divided or is
categorized into four major parts or segments, these are namely, creative thinking, critical
thinking, collaborating and communicating, they are also known as the four C's. The good
academic or study skills can majorly help or support in the enhancement of the levels of
competence, self- esteem and confidence in particular (Pereira. and Costa., 2017). This can also
reduce or decrease the anxiety among the students related to the deadlines and the tests. This will
further, help or support the students in doing better in their exams and tests. The overall
academic progress of the students will also get better with these.

Research skills.
Research skills basically refer to the ability for the purpose of searching, locating, then
extracting, organizing, evaluating and further using the information or the data which is relevant
to the specific topic in particular. It is very necessary for the students to learn the most
appropriate and the most suitable ways by which the data can be collected and evaluated in
particular for the particular research that is being conducted or any specific topic in particular.
This specific skill is considered to be very important and relevant as well. This is useful for the
academic purposes as well as for life skills too, this can basically allow the students to collect
and further evaluate the information and the data that is required or is necessary, then build
knowledge, think in a manner that is critical and further exercise the minds of the students as
well. It is a skill which benefits the students that are learning and implementing these skills
beyond the boundaries of their academic life in particular.
It mainly enables the students in understanding the world in a way that is better and is
more approachable. Some examples of the research skills that the students can develop can be,
data collection, report writing, critical thinking, critical analysis, interviewing, planning as well

as scheduling in particular. These skills are considered to be important because they help or
support the students in identification of the question or the challenge and then finding the best
possible solution for that specific problem in particular. This also enhances the ability to collect
and evaluate the most appropriate data or information. The students also learn to review the
information and interpret the details of the information for supporting the overall solution of the
issue or the question due to which the research is firstly being conducted. These skills can be
learnt by the students by learning the best ways to search and plan about the research, trace the

this allow learner to carefully examine the sentences and provide clarity of text. Learner need to
have structured sentence and paragraph to ensure proof reading is done as per the requirement,
learner perform in depth analysis of the paper and check flow of information.
Proof reading in academic allow learner to read through entire paper and correct if there
is any mistake. However, many academic professional writers perform proof read to analyse the
facts and figure included in the study, it is very important to overview information that has been

task and activity is completed within set time frame (Sainz, Ferrero and Ugidos, 2019). Delay in
task or work may impact time management ability and may impact other related and schedule
task, time management ensure learner maintain speed along with quality. Time management is
one of the most important skills in academic session, learner indulge themselves in certain
activity that management of time become challenging. There are many situations in which
learner’s personal time is impacted which affect their self-grooming, however, simply managing
task is not requirement of time management, learner need to manage their personal being as well.
Academic session require learner to have time management skills but this skill is required in
employment process as well, effective time management skills allow learner to gain opportunity
in business.
Time management may become challenging when one task failed and require additional
time to be completed, when following schedule, student might face issue of time management
due to failure of one task. However, depend on the priority of the work, learner can modify the
schedule and complete remaining task within provided time (Ocak and Boyraz, 2016). Time
management allow learner to become active, they will explore different area of growth as they
have managed their professional and personal time all together. It is very clear that time
management require learner to have decision making skills which help them to make decision on
quick basis, decision making help learner to manage time and reduce chances of multitasking,
learner pay attention to details while considering time management skills.
Planning skills:
Planning is one of the most important process in the academic and career development,
planning allow learner to plan each and every stages of life and maintain quality with speed.
Planning skills is ability to make schedule to perform certain task, learner need planning skills
which allow them to carry out important activity or action under a plan. Learner design plan to
reduce chances of task failure, due to lack of plan and proper understanding, task or failure in

career development process may arrive (Biemiller and Meichenbaum, 2017). However, learner
must have ability to perform task using their academic skills, even without planning skills,
learner can become effective in the market. Planning is important in career development process,
learner explore academic development and career option to explore better future, planning
learning allow learner to cover important area of the study.
During academic session, planning skills play significant role but during employment
phase, employer may demand learner to have planning skills which further can be utilize to
manage task. Planning accurately estimate time and efforts required to manage a task, learner
have planning skills which allow them to complete their task with proper organization of
resources and estimation (Basit and Korkmaz, 2021). Planning skills may require learner to have
organizing skills which means they need to organize each and every resource to manage the task,
planning and organizing skills help learner to complete task with low percentage of failure.
Tasking failing arrive when learner do not plan task as per the requirement impacting the
effectiveness of the task, however, learner need to have other skills as well to improve their
planning skills further can be used in academic and career development process.
CONCLUSION
This report has discussed academic skills and its importance in the academic session and
during employment process, learner with academic skills achieve better result in the process.
Later this report has discussed four critical skills including research skills which allow learner to
research upon something and develop an understanding. Later, proof reading skills are being
discussed in which learner build an ability to proof read and find error in the sentence, proof
reading is one of the most important academic skills. Later this report has discussed time
management skills which allow learner to manage time and task as per the requirement, time
management skills are most common and important in the academic session. At last, this report
has discussed planning skills which allow learner to plan and execute the task as per the plan.
