Report
AI Summary
This report provides a comprehensive analysis of an accounting and information system, focusing on the specific context of Goldstar Bank. The report begins with visual representations, including a LAN diagram and a WAN model, offering insights into the network infrastructure. It then delves into the application of cloud computing, examining the IT components and services that can be achieved through its implementation, such as virtualization and various service models (Storage-as-a-service, Database-as-a-service, etc.). The report further explores components and services suitable for migration to the cloud, along with those that are not. A critical aspect of the report involves decision-making, particularly regarding the choice of software, and the tradeoffs associated with different approaches. The rationale behind the system design and architecture is also discussed, along with references to support the analysis.

Question 2: Cloud Computing
IT Components/Services achieved by Cloud Computing
Cloud Computing enhances the security and performance of the systems. Implementing
cloud can achieve different components of infrastructures and services. In current scenario,
Virtualization can be achieved which can eliminate maximum hardware devices such as
switches, routers, load balancers and firewalls. Also VLANs (Virtual Local Area Networks) and
distributed storage systems can be implemented in the cloud network (Rui and Danpeng 2015).
In terms of services, the main achievable components are the Storage-as-a-service, Database-as-
a-service, Information-as-a-service, Platform-as-a-service, Security-as-a-service, Infrastructure-
as-a-service etc. It also helps to maintain large servers, provide large database in the form of
distributed system, Authenticate, Backup and data recovery.
Movable Components/Services to Cloud Computing
The upgrades of the vintage data centers to cloud computing has become effective and
efficient for the organizations and business in current technology. It eliminates most of the
physical entities from the conventional data centers. The Goldstar Bank has an Infrastructure as a
service in NYC and it provides services to its partner companies who serves their customer and
in return customer can use the credit card payment service of the bank. The external components
of the System architecture can be upgrade into the cloud computing as it provides the vitalization
(Zhao and Zhou 2014). Virtualization does not require any physical hardware to perform their
specific operations. The Components are the switches, LAN, Hubs, routers and load balancers.

Components/Services suitable for current System Architecture
There are several components and services are present for the data center which cannot
be achievable in the cloud implementation. Mainly the Intranet network is not achievable as the
cloud is connected to the internet. Apart from that the cloud is a public network and can be
accessed from anywhere. On other hand, the physical data centers build a private network which
can be accessed from inside the network. Also some of the physical safety of the data storage can
be achieved in the data centers and not in the cloud storages.
Decision Making
All in one software are proved more beneficial for the small businesses in terms of
budget. Selecting software depends on the work culture and budget both of the company.
However, there is no need of making business processes more complex by implementing
separate software for individual functionalities. In some scenarios it may require to use separate
software. In the current scenario the system goal is directed towards the growth. More companies
can participate with the bank in future and using separate software and database product will
make the business process more complex (Chen, Liang and Hsu 2015). Hence, it will be better to
standardize an all-in-one software which can adapt and provide different functionalities of the
business companies of the bank.
Tradeoffs
The tradeoffs in these choices are that it will be easy to standardize for all the users who
are having the same Goldstar bank’s credit card. Although the software will be complex, it will
be cheaper and there will not be any complexity in the backend process of the bank (Walraven et
al. 2014). The software should be customizable and adaptable. The rationale behind the system

design and architecture by after implementing cloud computing is relatively simple that the idea
of the separate software.
