Selection of Business Partner
The industry partner I would most like to work for is EY (Ernst & Young) Australia. The
company is involved in providing services in the areas of Assurance, Advisory, Tax and
Transaction Advisory Services. The motive of the company is to build a better world where
economic growth can be sustainable and inclusive.
Work Environment
The work environment of the entity focuses on helping people in succeeding in their
personal and professional lives. The company is trying to foster workplaces around the world
where the environment is open and trust-based. The company aims to generate innovative
thinking while also allowing people to collaborate flexibly and fluidly. Some other benefits
provided include mobility opportunities, global mindset, cross-border engagements and mobility
programs.
Role of an accountant
The main area in which the company hires accountants include the Financial Accounting
Advisory Services (FAAS). In this area, the accountants are expected to help organisations in
building an efficient and effective finance function which helps in making better business
decisions. Other roles include helping the clients in balancing their risk and opportunities in
ethical, environmental and social opportunities (Ey.com 2020). Other roles include providing
consultancy and leadership skills to clients by using the required technical knowledge possessed
by them. Apart from these, people with knowledge in accounting are also hired in the areas of
audit and forensic & integrity services.

Role of New graduate
The new graduate employed by the firm would initially be expected to work their way
around the firm by achieving the goals and objectives set by their counsellor and buddy (Ey.com
2020). The graduate will be expected to continue with this learning opportunity for a foreseeable
period and enjoy the other benefits provided as a part of the job.
Skills and attributes required to work for EY
On the basis of the above three responses, there are a variety of skills which are required
to work in the entity. These include strong technical knowledge of accounting and willingness to
learn. Good communication skills and knowledge of specific industries are also essential to
provide advice in a particular industry. Similarly, other required attributes include loyalty
towards the organisation and constantly updating oneself with the changes occurring in an
industry.
Personal critique
Some of the skills that I have which are required by the entities include a strong technical
knowledge and a willingness to learn about the business of the entity. Other attributes also
include good communication skills and a constant willingness to update myself. However, as an
accounts student, I do not have specific skills in a particular industry in which I can
comprehensively advice a client. Hence, these are needed to be developed. I also need to learn
more accounting software which can be helpful in doing a better job in the future.
Strategy
One aspect would be to undertake training in new software which can be useful as a part
of the job. During the course of the job, I also plan on picking a particular industry in which I

would develop my expertise. I also plan on taking up newer responsibilities as a part of the job.
These will help in improving my overall skill levels and reach greater heights in the job.
