Introduction
Professional ethics are required to be followed by all the professionals and they are
required to take the decisions accordingly. There are certain situations in which ethical dilemmas
are faced and they shall be identified on time. In this report, one such case of Ken will be
discussed and the dilemma faced by him will be identified. There are various actions which are
taken by him and they all will be analyzed in context with the ACS code of professional conduct.
Ethical dilemma faced by Ken
Ken is an ICT professional and is working on a video which is to be published soon. The
deadline of the project has approached but he has not undertaken the testing of the system which
will be used (Chron, 2018). It is required that the system shall be appropriately tested before
issuing the same so that no issues are faced. In the given case ken faced the dilemma that
whether the video shall be published or not without the testing (Youtube, 2016). It has been
identified that according to the professional ethics there shall be professionalism which shall be
followed and ken should have completed his task on time so that issue should not have arisen. He
has contacted the contractors and asked them to revise the deadline and extend the same by one
month and the work will be completed till then (Youtube, 2016).
Actions taken by Ken
In relation to the issue, it is identified that ken has taken the extension of the project from
the related parties but then also has not complied with the laws (Youtube, 2016). This is the
consideration he is taking and this is not mentioned in the contract). There are various codes of
ethics which are required to be followed and shall be taken into consideration. They have to be
understood in an appropriate manner (Burmeister, 2013). In the given case ken has not followed
the ethical requirements and has issued the video without proper testing which was a surprise for
all. It is an unprofessional action taken by him and the actions are taken against him for the same.
According to the code of ethics, the public interest shall be given the topmost priority and actions
shall be taken in such a manner that public interest is not harmed (ACS. (2014). The second
ethics is related to the honesty which shall be maintained and all the actions shall be taken such

that the person is honest with himself as well as with others. The services shall be provided in an
honest manner and there shall be a compromise in the same.
Competence is other ethic sand according to it the work shall be performed in complete
diligent and with full competency. There shall be no negligence in the same and all the skills
shall be applied in an effective manner that the required results are provided to the involved
stakeholders. There shall be professional development which shall be followed and in that it shall
be considered that professional development of all shall be made by all the actions which are
taken (Glosoff et al., 2016). There should be following of such structure that personal, as well as
professional growth, is made and this should be applicable for the staff also. There shall be
complete professionalism which shall be followed and integrity should be enhanced. The respect
shall be given to all the members and they should also be involved in the process which is
undertaken so that they have complete knowledge about the same. All of the ethics will be
required to be followed and the actions will also be taken accordingly. There will be need to
consider the aspects which are involved in them and for that the ones who are affected by the
actions shall be identified.
In the given case the action which is taken by ken to publish the video without
undergoing the process of testing is unethical. He has not followed the ethics and it will be
against the public interest as the ones who will be watching the video will come across various
issues. There might be certain viruses which may be present and that will be affecting the
systems of others. There was a deal and according to it the video was required to be tested and
then published but the same has to be complied with by ken (Boland & Mogk, 2017). He was not
honest with them and has taken the action without providing any intimation to the required
parties. This is an unethical behavior which is against the standards. He has taken the action on
the basis of his personal opinion which is not justified and professional aspects shall be taken
into account in taking any action. The work is not performed with competence and there is no
professional care which is taken.
The skills which are available with him has been misused and it is required that they shall
be used in the required manner for the benefit of all. It was his responsibility that the launching
shall be made in an adequate manner by using ethical means. The systems should have been

tested earlier so that it can be used in an effective manner and there are no issues which are
faced. The professional development is also not taking place and that is not ethical (Gotterbarn,
2013). There is no development which is taking place in professional terms. The employees shall
be motivated and in the given case there is no motivation which is being made for all. It is not a
professional behavior that the launching is made without informing anyone and that is also made
in an incorrect manner. The professionalism is required to be maintained and it will have to be
done in such a manner that no ethics are broken. There is the need to follow the specified
standards but the same has not been done by ken which is unethical.
Recommendations
According to the ACS code of professional ethics, there is the need to comply with the
ethics which are specified and all the actions shall also be undertaken accordingly. In this
respect, ken was also to comply with the same and in that he was required to complete his task is
the provided time frame. Even after the incompletion, he had an opportunity to provide the video
in a time of one month but he did not consider the same. The video should not have been
released and firstly the testing should have been completed which is the most important task. The
professional behavior should have been maintained and there should be an avoidance of
negligence and incompetent behavior. All the operations should be completed in such a manner
that they are adding to the professional development and there is the development of the other
members also. In the given case the negative impact would have been made on the staff members
and that should be avoided. The bank will also be demanding for such negligence and that adds
to the liabilities which are required to be fulfilled in time.
Conclusion
The report presented above has covered all the aspects in relation to professional
misconduct and unethical behavior. The dilemma which has been faced by the ken has been
identified and proper analyzation of the same has been made. In that, the complete situation has
been identified and an explanation of the same is provided. There is the analyzation of the
actions which have been performed by ken in the given circumstances. It has been identified that
ken has not followed the ethics which are provided in the codes. All of the shortcomings which
are involved are identified and an understanding of various ethical requirements as per the ACS
