Question 1 Consider the ACS code of conduct.
The ACS code of conduct is the standard of the behaviour of the employees at the workplace. It
signifies the work culture and applies policies and practices which also make a better place to work
for employees. There are six of the values are which are explained below in details:
Honesty:1) Honest is the best policy to be used in the workplace. The honesty is being shown in skills
and in work. The knowledge is being provided to the customers and in selling the product and
services.
2) The personal and professional opinions must be differentiated so that decision can be taken in
the proper manner.
Public interest: 1) The primary motive must be to respect each person and their property.
2) As many new employees will be appointed in ACM as computing professionals, the property
related to the person must be respected.
Professionalism: 1) In professionalism, the employees can work in an environment which is healthy
and safe. No person can take any legal and illegal action in the organization ACM, this makes the

Question 2. Consider the 7 US ACM Principles.
There are 7 principles being used in the US ACM so that the work can be carried out with ease. It also
takes care of the behavior of the employees at the workplace. Below are these principles explained in
brief:
1) Awareness: Awareness is being provided to each of the staff members about the policies and
rules of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). Each person must be aware of
their part as they help in the organization Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) at
various roles and positions. The shareholders and stakeholders must be aware of the interest
and investments policies along with terms and conditions.
2) Access and redress: Each member of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM)
must experience some or the other problem. The new employees must be allowed to question
about the work culture and process of the transactions being done time to time.
3) Accountability: The decisions taken by the staff members and the top management must be
accountable to answer and explanation of the decision being taken. Many a time the manager
takes decisions which are not beneficial for the clients and staff. The details are to be
provided in order to take the decisions or take any action.
4) Explanation: The explanation of taking each step is being provided so that the understanding
can be developed. The system and procedure which has been adopted are being taken care so
that future decisions can be taken in a corrective way and action must be correct. Moreover,
the environment of the workplace can be maintained properly.
5) Data provenances: For conducting each of the action or decision, data is being taken or
collected. The data is being collected carefully so that wrong or fake data cannot be gathered.
With the help of public scrutiny, data can be gathered which provides correct data and opens
more opportunities so that the work can be maintained properly (Johnston, 2017).
6) Auditability: Whatever the data has been collected must be recorded for the use in future.
The models and statically data help in analyzing the things in the better way and provides the
clear understanding.
7) Validation and Testing: The Tests are being taken so that work can go in a proper direction.
The data can be tested and being analyzed so that proper outcome can be obtained according
to the planned way (Khan, et. al., 2018).

The first principle is Awareness which helps in reducing the biases and makes the work easier and
flexible (Spirin and Han, 2012). The awareness is being provided so that each detail about the steps
and decision have taken must be explained with the reason. The awareness helps the stakeholders,
shareholders, suppliers, staff members etc. are to be provided with detail information. The design of
the plans and implementation must be done in an effective way and must be explained to the
stakeholders and shareholders.

Question 3. Consider every numbered guideline in table 2 of Clarke’s Guidelines for the
responsible application of data analytics and identify, with justification, whether the guideline is
applicable or irrelevant to the scenario. If you argue that the guideline is applicable in principle,
but needs to be adapted to be more obviously applicable, then propose a suitable re-phrasing of
the guideline.
There are many guidelines being formed by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). These
guidelines are made so that the working in the organization can run smoothly and security can be
maintained. Below is the justification of the guidelines presented.
The code of conduct is being commenced in tear 2012 on 31st March. In any of the organization such
as Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), some of the standards are set so that the workplace
can be maintained with the healthy behavior and the employees feel safe while working in the
environment.
The general guidelines consist of Do’s and Don’ts for the government, expertise, and compliance. All
the activities are made so that the working can be done in an appropriate way (Aluko, 2017). Laws are
being followed so that the working can be maintained. The data must be used in a proper way along
with systematically arranged. The argument is that as many of the laws are made so issued can be
resolved. Working according to these issues can create issues and clashes in the organization
Association for Computing Machinery (ACM).
The second guideline is that it takes care of the data being collected for analyzing the future and
taking decisions (Khan, et. al., 2018). The organization Association for Computing Machinery (ACM)
have to do's and don’ts which helps in making collecting the relevant data and resources and utilizing
them at the workplace.
The data collected from different sources are being merged. This total merged data is being cleaned
and verified so that an outcome can be brought. This data is being assembled at a safe place with
protected tools so that no one can misuse it. Transparency of the data is also being maintained so that
at the time of need this data and resources can be used in an effective manner (Wachter, et. al., 2017).
The argument is that the data collected from various sources may be false. This data have been used
from various other organizations as this is the secondary data. Moreover, in case of transparency, the
data can be misused by the employees, staff members, clients, or competitors. This also losses the
quality of the data and information along with its purpose (Zhu, et. al., 2014). The data and
information are also not compatible with taking it into use at the time of taking critical decisions.

8

The third guideline is that Data analyses (Clarke, 2017). The analyses of the data have been done by
the experts appointed in the organization Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). The data and
information must be used according to its limitations and usage.
The argument is that the data is inappropriate. Wrong data should not be used in the report and must
not be shown to the clients. This plays a wrong impression and goodwill of the organization gets
affected. Human errors are also being done by the employees which must also create problems in
developing and growing the organization Association for Computing Machinery (ACM).
The fourth guideline is the use of data interference. In the data interference, the data is being tested
and evaluated (Alhojailan, 2012). The data used in the wrong sentence may result in the false
interpretation by the stakeholders and shareholders. It also can result in the fluctuation in the cost-
benefit analyses.
The data and information must be used according to its potential and limitations. The adverse effect
will be that it can lead to misrepresentation of data towards clients and competitors and wrong
performance of the activity by the employees.
The activities must be tested before performing and after performing. This helps in measuring the
activities with their positive and negative results. The outcome of the auditing helps in evaluating the
results according to the planned way. The finding helps in analyzing the mistakes and correcting
them.
The argument is that the data and information be wrongly displayed by employees. The human errors
can create blunders and loss can be experienced by the organization Association for Computing
Machinery (ACM).
This also results in making the loss and taking decisions in the organization Association for
Computing Machinery (ACM). The actions must be represented in wrong way. The opportunities
must be grasped so that more growth can be achieved. The techniques are being used in the better way
by the professionals being appointed by the organization Association for Computing Machinery
(ACM).
The delegated or the clients are being shown with the correct and true data so that they can make
investments in the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and earn high profits. The
employees are being provided by the safety measures to make them stay the longer period of time and
increase the productivity of the organization. Harm must not be provided to the data collected from
various sources so that opportunities can be provided to the organization Association for Computing
Machinery (ACM).

The quality of the data can be maintained so that more and accurate results can be obtained by making
investing at different places (Zhu, et. al., 2014). This also increases the profit by increasing the rate of
interest on investments. The value of the quality also is maintained along with the time. Time is also
being maintained while taking decisions.
The managers and the top level managers must take care of the actions being taken by them. This is so
as the explanation is being provided by them to the stakeholders and shareholders. This helps in
maintaining the transparency and provides each detail of the transactions done.
In compliance, laws, and policies are to be followed such that each of the activity can be performed
effectively and efficiently. In the organization related to the data and information some issues can be
raised, Such that politics can be applied so that data can be misused and being sold to the competitors
in order to earn high profit and money (Hansen and Flyverbom, 2015). To remove these politics,
Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) has to take some of the strict actions and policies are to
be made.
The behavior has to be correct and right towards the members of the organization, suppliers, workers
etc. the policies and also have been made to keep the workplace flexible and healthy. The algorithm
plays a very negative role in the behavior of the organization (Tufekci, 2015). It makes the staff
members unsafe and changes their mindset. This increases the challenges in the organization to solve
the personal issues and politics spread among the members of the organization Association for
Computing Machinery (ACM).
Ethics are being followed in the organization Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) in

Question 4 Discuss how the failure to consider the guideline could have contributed to the
response of the ͞ Climate-change skeptics to the conclusion drawn from the analytical work of the
scenario.
There are some of the guidelines being made by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM).
These guidelines are to be used while working in the workplace so that each of the tasks can be
performed in an excellent manner. There are some of the drawbacks which are being experienced
while not following the guidelines. Following are the drawbacks explained below:
The accuracy must be lost if the guidelines are not being followed. The accuracy must be lost in the
collection of the data and analyzing it in the correct manner. The quality of data must be hidden in the
data collection and taking it into use (Zhu, et. al., 2014).
As major decisions are being taken by the top management and team leaders, they are accountable to
take these decisions. This makes a pressure on them to provide an explanation of each of step being
taken and the reason for taking actions.
Honesty and trust are the two main principles being used in the workplace by the organization
Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). According to the guidelines, these two principles are
being followed (Spirin and Han, 2012). If not being applicable to the workplace, the organization
cannot go in the long run and the employees will not stay for longer period of time. The data collected
is to be stored in the safe place. Honest and knowledgeable employees will keep the data secure and
take effective use of it.
Some of the laws are to be followed and fulfilled by the Association for Computing Machinery
(ACM). Ignoring these laws and breaching of these laws can result in the punishments and comes in
the eye of the legal authorities. Hence, penalties can be imposed and loss can be experienced by the
Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). Security of the user data collected from different
sources and the employees must be taken care. This helps in making the environment safe and flexible
so that number of employees can join the organization and stay for long period.

Conclusion
It can be concluded that the big data given by Roger Clarke is used to resolve the big issues as well as
the opportunities which contribute to the risk assessment. Various ACM principles are used to
identify the potential harm problem. Thus, to summarize the principles it can be seen that various
decisions in the organizations are taken by the executives as well as the top level managers so the one
who contributes in the decision making is responsible to look after the concerns related to the risk
management and the quality assurance. The report also reveals the data analytical tools which are
used to identify the problem with their justification. So, it can be stated that in the organization's
proper rules and regulations should be followed in order to maintain the effectiveness of the policies
and to compete with the external environment following the same process of identifying the
responsibilities and taking decisions accordingly.
