Changing nature of work
The workplace setting has been constantly developing which has resulted in change.
With the age of globalization and digitalization organizations have made efforts to modify
their work and their operations of the organization in order to cope up with the huge
competition that is currently in the market. Previously main emphasis was on the manpower
and the productivity of the employees. All the work of the organization was done by the
employees and the organizations followed a traditional work setting with permanent
employees working towards achieving the goals that were set by the organization. However,

the rate of highly-educated unemployed workers (Dube, Dube and Turan 2015).
Unemployment has become a huge issue all over the world which gives birth to several social
issues in the world like homelessness, poverty and other mental health issues like depression.
In recent times, new industries are coming up who are creating different business
models that has contributed to making a change in the workplace setting. Organizations these
days put emphasis on temporary employees and part time employees who they hire on basis
of the demand of the organization or the company and their expertise and work till the
particular projects are done. This has helped in enhancing the performance of the
organization and has contributed to the smooth business as the organizations do not have to
provide salary to a huge number of employees and pay according to the basis of the time
period and the work provided by the employees. However this has had negative impacts on
the employees or the workers. The part time workers irrespective of their level of skills do
not always get the opportunity to enhance their skills as practice makes it perfect. The other
part is that part time workers are paid less in comparison to the permanent employees and the
other workers who are freelancers only get paid when they are required to do any kind of job
(Ordine, Rose and Vella 2017). Though this has become good for organizations but has
become an issue for the employees who work as part time and freelancers as they do not get
paid monthly and are often unemployed if there is no demand for the work.
With the development of this kind of work culture it can be seen in the next 5- 10
years different designation and different kinds of jobs will be introduced that in recent times
nobody could have expected. General qualifications may no longer have the kind of
importance it has now and the focus and importance may shift to mostly management studies.
With more innovation in the near future the demand for employees with general qualification
might reduce and also may increase the rate of unemployment more which may give birth to
negative consequences.

5WORK AND ORGANIZATIONS
Implications of changing workplace on managers and employees
The new ways in which the workplace has changed and is constantly changing is
going to have a huge impact on the employees and the managers of organizations. With the
age of globalization, most business aim on expanding. With expansion new requirements,
innovation and new skills are needed to operate in the organizations to develop competitive
advantage in the market (Dereli 2015). Employees often use and put the knowledge which
they have learnt in management studies however with the creation of new business models
each passing day it has contributed to strains and dilemmas in the workers. Managers and
employees have to learn new skills and enhance their performance to contribute to the
success of the organization they work for. Decision making process becomes difficult with
new industries coming up with different business models which employees and managers do
not resonate with. This often creates a dilemma where usually managers are confused to
make proper decisions and which decision may be right for the benefit of the organization.
The changing workplace is often beneficial for the organization however, it becomes a
problem for the managers and the employees as it becomes difficult for them to cope up with
the new ideas and strategies that are considered and implemented and adapt to the change
(Lynch and Mors 2019). However, the changing workplace has been gaining prominence
though has paved way for an uncertain future for the employees.
Things to do to survive the change
People have the capacity and ability to change which is evident as people adapt to
different climatic and societal change. Organizations are constantly on the verge of
development and this means the introduction of new business models, policies, organizational
structure and many more. In order to survive this uncertain future I would like to adapt to
most of the changes for my survival. I would like to the new skills and enhance my skills
