“A research on designing, manufacturing and marketing summer sports shoe La Huarache- a
study of Adidas”
INTRODUCTION
Fashion has become an integral part of the lives of not only the women but also the men. In
early days, fashion could only be possessed by high-class people, it is been accepted by people
of different class and culture. Fashion is not limited to just clothing and apparels, it is expanded
to accessories and footwear as well. Of all the garments, footwear can be considered as the
most important to any outfit. Shoes worn by an individual is enough to solidify or tarnish the
entire character of the outfit. In today’s world, fashion in shoe leads to more versatility than
any other thing (Xiong et al., 2010). Every individual prefers to wear shoes of some sort every
day unless they stay home.
Women have more different types and kinds of shoes for every set of circumstances as
compared to men. Different colour and style shoes are required by a woman for different
occasions such as office purpose, party wear, casuals and much more. It is difficult for the
women to resist themselves from buying a new pair of shoes as they pass by shoe store (Hjort
et al., 2013). There is a famous saying that the first impression is lasting. Therefore it is crucial
for the women to focus on what type of shoe they wear alongside the accessory, unlike the
men who purchase shoes for just utilitarian need.
In the current high fashionable environment, the fashion statement is incomplete without the
matching pair of shoes (Hjort et al., 2013). It is believed that it depicts the personality of the
individual. Considering this in mind, a research project is undertaken as a project manager for
Adidas in designing and manufacturing a summer sports shoe to market it to various leading
fashion global retailers.
Adidas is a multinational company of Germany that was founded in 1924. It specialises in sports
shoe, clothing and accessories through support from approximately 57,000 employees. The USP
of the company is it is renowned and recognised around the globe as a leading manufacturer of
sports shoes, clothes and accessories that appeals to a large number of people having varied
demographics. The revenue of Adidas is €21.20 billion in 2017 as compared to €19.29 billion in
