AI Summary
This document presents a comprehensive network redesign, beginning with a thorough information gathering process involving staff, IT personnel, and management to understand network requirements, bandwidth needs, application demands, and budget constraints. It includes questions for each group to clarify expectations, validate gathered data, and verify accuracy through triangulation, negative case analysis, and reflexive journaling. The redesign itself features a three-layered network architecture, a network topology demonstration, and a successful IP address allocation plan. The document concludes with a bibliography referencing various sources related to network design and implementation. Desklib provides this and other solved assignments for students.

2ADVANCED NETWORK DESIGN
Part 1: Collection of the Information
Questions that will be asked to the staff members:
What type of network traffic is used by the staff members?
What is the requirement criteria of the bandwidth for performing organizational operations?
What kind of application is required by the staffs for the provided network to them?
What is the current network infrastructure of the organization?
What kind devices they need to access in the provided network to them?
What is the medium of the connection that is currently used by the staffs of the organization
for the existing network?
Whether the present connection medium can be used in the proposed medium solution?
If the current connection medium is impossible to implement in the provided network
solution then what type of connection medium they are preferring?
What is the expected response time of the system by the staffs for the proposed network
solution?
Questions that will be asked to the IT staffs:
What the organization is expecting by the implementation of proposed network?
What application are needed for the new proposed network? Whether all the applications
are same with the old network structures or there are some new application which has been
introduced in the new network?
If there is some new application which need to be included to the new network then what
will be cost of the implementation?
Whether the old application are compatible with the new network structure or not.
The applications will be operating in the local area network or LAN environment. In this
environment whether any type of internet connection is needed by the applications?
Through the LAN connection various of file will be shared within the connected network.
Now, if there is any type of special requirement for sharing the file between the
interconnected systems?
Questions that will be asked to the management of the organization:
What are the departments which should be linked with each other in the proposed network
solution and what are the total number of departments which are involved in the provided
network solution?
What are the total number of users who are involved with the proposed network solution?

3ADVANCED NETWORK DESIGN
What is approximate budget of the proposed system that need to be developed in this case?
Whether the budget can be increased depending upon the organization scenario or this is
the final budget which cannot be extended further in the future?
What is expectation of the organization about the timespan of the project?
Is the organization is agree to compromise with the network quality for faster completion of
project or the organization wants a perfect network solution which might can take a large
amount of time?
Whether the organization is planning to expand the proposed network in the future cases
for organizational growth and support or the organization is planning to build a solid type of
network with no future expansion support?
Purpose of the questions that will be made:
All of the asked questions aimed to understand the projects deeply. This questions regarding
the project will clarify the needs of the project and what the management and the employees of the
organization are expecting from the initiated project. In this case the prepared questions will also
help the organization to establish new communication and will help the organization to improvise
the network based reliability. Also, the questions which has been thrown to the management of the
organization can be used for interview various of stakeholders related with the initiated network
solution. The prepared question will also provide the idea about the project requirement as the
questions has been developed mainly considering the objective of the project. The question are
developed in the way that the interviewee need not to elaborate the answer briefly. This type of
questions ensure that the optimum results can be obtained from the interview.
Validation and Verification of the gathered information:
To validate the gathered information some steps need to be followed. In the validation
process the first step which need to be followed is the establishment of the face validity. In the face
validity the first phase is understanding the topic by the evolution of the questionnaires. The second
phase is having psychometrician that will survey the common mistakes doubled barrelled, leading
and the confusing questions. The second step in the validation process is the pilot test of the
questions or the survey that has been developed. In the third step after the collection of the pilot
data the responses need to be entered in the spreadsheet and the data need to be cleaned. In the
fourth step underlying components need to be identified by the usage of the principal component
analysis. In the fifth step of the information validation internal consistency of the questions are
checked which are belongs to the same factors. This basically checks the correlation between the

developed questions. In the sixth and final step the developed questions are revised based on the
information that are gleaned from the CA and the PCA.
The gathered information also need to be verified by the interviewee to ensure the accuracy
of the data. There are total three approaches for the verification of the gathered information. These
three processes are the triangulation, negative case analysis and the reflexive journal. The
triangulation is used for compare the data gathered from various of sources. In this case the sources
are the interviewees and their statements are compared in this case for determining the accuracy of
the data. In the case of the negative case analysis the data researcher actively seeks for the data that
conflicts or contradicts with the prevailing evidence that are presented in the data. The reflexive
journal is used by the researcher as a diary to record the personal insights and the thoughts on what
happened during the main research or the interview. This is a type of process that ensure that the
researcher can judge and review the quality of the data.
