INTRODUCTION
Advanced practice can be define as a developed and continuously evolving part of
healthcare professionals around the globe as a practice level more than initial phase. Advanced
healthcare professionals are armed to enhance health conditions of their service users, eliminate
diseases and deliver care and treatment for patients in a wide range of settings (McCormack and
McCance, 2016). Such care professionals are experts in areas of assessment and diagnosis,
implementation and planning and keeping of records. The following report is based on
Farnworth Care home, which is an healthcare organisation in United Kingdom. They offer
healthcare services to older people and individuals with physical and mental disabilities. The
report is going to cover various aspects of advanced practice in healthcare such as managing a
patient complaint, developing an under-forming team and reaching a team objective.
Furthermore, a professional portfolio is going to develop and at last professionals guidelines for
CPD is going to be evidenced.

Reflection
Public health can be define as an art of protecting the safety and enhancing health
conditions of communities through policy making, delivering an advance d quality of care and
through research on injury or disease prevention. Advanced level of clinical practices in public
health will be beneficial to eliminate the level of diseases and injury up-to some extent as it
include modernised tools and equipments as well as number of strategies such as keeping
records, making policies and many more (Johnson and et.al., 2016). I as an humanitarian health
team leader in Farnworth Care home, was responsible for ensuring quality as well as
effectiveness of care practices which is being delivered to patients and was required to develop,
coordinate and manage all activities of respective care home in an effective manner. However,
there were some of the areas which I need to improve for conducting all the activities and tasks
in an effective way. For instance, I was not good at managing a patient complaint. As focus on
patient centred care has improved there is a demand for transparency of satisfaction data of
patients thus, it is necessary to develop some of the practices that would be helpful for
delivering excellent and advanced quality of care to service users so that they can attain a level

of satisfaction. Service users have a right to file complaints and objections with organisation,
whenever they feel unsatisfied with the treatment they have received. Thus, I need to learn to
handle such situations in a timely manner. It is important for Farnworth Care home to
implement a process to measure and evaluate all feedbacks of patient to enhance patient
satisfaction. Some of the advanced practices such as complaint must be documented at first,
provide training and development programs to staff members to improve their skills, analyse data
correctly and verify efficacy. Another major area where I need to improve is to lead an under
performing team.
As a team leader it is my responsibility to provide guidance to my team members so that
they can meet the target objectives and perform with their full potential. Communication plays a
vital role in managing activities of team (Billett, 2016). Thus, it is important for a team leader to
communicate with care professionals and encourage them to work in an effective way. It is
important to encourage team members and appreciate them for their work so that they could feel
valued. Reward and appraisal system can be implemented in Farnworth Care home, in order to
enhance performance of team members. Other than this, commitment to continued growth as
well as refinement from constant training and development and practical application of clinical
practices would be helpful to enhance performance. Thus, I as a team leader need to support my
team by showing visibility to them. For improving this particular area, I need to improve my
creativity and decision making skills so that I could solve problems within the team in a smart
way and inspire my team to deliver excellent patient care. In order to get positive outcomes and
to acquire target goals it is important to develop an objective for team and to build strategy for
accomplishing the target. The main objective of team within Farnworth Care home is to provide
advanced quality of care practices to their patients for improving their health conditions and to
reduce chances of risks in their treatments. For reaching target gaols of the team it is important
for a team leader to utilize some methodologies to reach goals. Setting goals at team level will be
beneficial for whole team to achieve target outcomes. After that the next step is to let team
members to develop their individual gaols and must be available to provide them assistance.
Deadlines play a vital role to develop accountability in team and to make the goals meaningful.
An objective with no deadline is just without a purpose and could eventually end without even
achieved. Thus, team leaders should give some fixed deadlines in order to acquire gaols. Helping

team members to stay focused by tracking their progress is also an effective way to meet target
objectives as it will help them to stay motivated when they see they are very close to completion.
In my overall experience, I was quite good at maintaining a healthy relationship with my
service users. My emotional intelligence is quite good and I was able to recognise unspoken,
spoken and physical hints of the patients. Such clues are helpful in revealing cultural and
personal requirements (Holloway and Galvin, 2016). By evaluating the context through which
patients express their concerns, I was able to interpret the clues with clarity and speed and help
them by motivating them. As a leader it was my responsibility to understand [patients statements.
As an effective healthcare leader it is my duty to demonstrate sensitivity it towards social and
cultural backgrounds and show them support their strengths. With the help of close professional
relationships, I was able to understand the factors that are influencing patient behaviour.
Through development of diverse relationship in my own personal life, it was easy for me to
understand cultural and social understandings.

Development plan
Personal development planing is basically a process for creating an action plan which is
totally related to values, awareness, reflection, goal-setting as well as planning for overall
personal development within subject of career, relationship, education or self enhancement
(Yadav and et.al., 2017). In order to initiate and sustain improvement in above mentioned areas,
it is important for me to design a personal development plan for myself which will help me to
work on these areas. A personal development plan consist of set of actions and plans which help
an individual to grow on personal and professional level. Personal development help to enhance
individual skills and knowledge and also help to improve interpersonal skills. Whereas,
professional development plan will help to enhance clinical practices and provide opportunities
to learn several aspects which would be beneficial in professional life. It will help me to provide
better and advanced quality of care to patients and help me to improve their health conditions. It
is totally based on identified requirements within an individual. Plan for development is to
manage career and learning throughout the career (White and et.al., 2019). It is majorly useful
for healthcare professionals as it is majorly concerned with health conditions of services users. It
is a set of traits and characteristics that form pattern which distinguish from all other individuals.

It is very necessary for me to comply with professional guidelines that are available in
order to perform better in Farnworth Care home. Continuing professional development is
basically an educational activity which enables a healthcare professional to analyse lifelong
learning in their scope of practice. Thus, it will help me in evidence based learning and by
developing self -reports. CPD includes all activities and tasks that are undertaken by healthcare
professionals, informally or formally for maintaining, update, develop and enhance skills as well
as knowledge in respect to requirements of patients (Hardy and et.al., 2016). Thus, it will help
me to perform better and to deliver high quality of care to my service users.
CONCLUSION
From the above study, it can be concluded that advanced practice in healthcare are
important in delivering effective quality of care to patients. It help to reduce and eliminate the
risk of occurrence of diseases in public and to improve quality of clinical skills my using several
advanced practices like record keeping, documentation, technology in operations and many
more. It help to enhance different areas in healthcare organisations such as managing patient
complaints, leading an underperforming team as well as to reach team objectives. Advanced
practices in healthcare organisations are very effective to increase productivity and to induce
patient satisfaction as healthcare professionals tends to perform with their full potential. CPD
help to enhance skills and knowledge of care practitioners as well as to sustain with their skills.
