1ENERGY RESOURCING
The security and sustenance of energy has been one of the major concerns of the Industrialised
countries. It has often been argued by scholars that the ability of sustaining resources and making
the country self sufficient for the same, the western industrialised countries are more independent
of the Middle East countries for importing the renewable or the non renewable energies. The
Middle East are known to be the worldwide suppliers of natural resources like the crude oil, coal
or the natural gas (Hussain, 2016). However, the arguments, if true, can bring some of the
advantages and disadvantages as well for the western countries:
Advantages:
1. Being self-sufficient regarding the natural resources will make a country self dependent. Thus,
for their running of Industry, they will not have to depend on the supplies from foreign land. In
this manner, the country will not be affected by the political or environmental instability of the
country from where the supplies take place. Solely they can control their economy and
production (Ahmed, 2016).
2. Another major advantage for the countries will be their savings of economy. The cost of
import is one of the most large expense that a country has to bear with. The importing of natural
resources causes heavy cash flow to the foreign countries.
Disadvantages:
1. The import export relationship often strengthen the political relationship between two
countries. The stoppage on such imports is likely to affect the diplomatic relationship among the
western countries with the Middle East. The strained relationship between US and Iran is one of
the major examples (Turskaya, 2017).
