The online food delivery system has gained huge importance because of the speed and
the accuracy with which it works. It has been able to attract the attention of customers as they
can get the option of selecting the items of their choice just by sitting at any corner of their
houses. Online food delivery system has made the lives of people much easier. In the 21st-
century people have a very busy schedule As a result of this, they are always looking for easy
and less time-consuming solutions to their problems. Almost all families have working parents
(See-Kwong et al., 2017). Thus it is really tough for them to manage work and their family lives
at the same tie. With the advent of the online food ordering system, the working parents can be
assured that they will be able to provide some readymade and instant food for their children.
It is highly advantageous as the process of ordering the food is very easier. The online
food delivery system provides a large number of options for the customers. The customers can
order the food just at the touch of a click (Somaiya et al., 2019). The payment system is also very
customer friendly. The customers can use both cash and the system of card payments in
exchange for online food. 97% of the millennial use their phones for getting more than half of
their works done (Yeo, Gohm & Rezaei, 2017). They are highly dependent on their mobile
phones for the purpose of fulfilling their day to day needs like online shopping, checking up the
recent updates of sports, politics and also for ordering food.
The other reason behind the increasing popularity is that online food delivery options are
available for the customers on a 24*7 hour basis. This is very helpful for working professionals
or even students. They can carry on their studies and also their jobs without the tension of
coming home and taking up the trouble of cooking. They can simply open their phones and
select the food that they want to order from a very wide range of options. The pre-booking option
is also very useful for the customers as they can select and place the order knowing that it will

arrive at their doorstep at the right time (Lucas-Alfieri, 2015). On the order hand, it is also useful
for restaurants they will get the time for cooking the materials.
Malaysia has also started developing a large number of online food delivery options for
satisfying the needs of its customers. Some of the well known online food delivery options are
food pandas WeDapao. This has been very helpful as they help their customers to get their
desired dishes even from a very long distance. However, there are also certain drawbacks on the
part of online food delivery systems. Often the customers are angry due to the food quality.
There are certain misunderstandings and the restaurants ending up in sending wrong orders or
some items also are missing. As a report in STOMP, there was a complaint against food panda
regarding the poor quality food received by a woman. She was unhappy with the quality of the
Salmon Platter. She also complained that salad was missing in her order; however, it was
displayed in the picture online (Daley, 2017). This earned a bad name on the online food delivery
system. Issues like these have to be solved by online food delivery systems. The online food
delivery stores have to be extra careful while accepting the orders. They must check the parcels
after receiving it from the restaurants. On getting some customer complaints, they must cater to it
and immediately compensate the customers via refund or some discounts.
