1DISRUPTIVE TECHNOLOGIES
Disruptive technologies in MySugar
In this technological world every day the technology is evolving, exploring and touching
the heights of innovation. The emergence of the disruptive technology stated from the time of the
industrial revolution. The improvement in every sector was prominent to observe. Alongside
that, the economy has benefited from this emergence too. The revolution of information
technology like mobiles, internet, Artificial Intelligence, cloud computing, big data, the internet
of things and many technologies have emerged to be effective for several industries (Steinhubl,
Muse & Topol, 2015). One such crucial industry is the healthcare industry. The emergence of
mobile devices, the internet of things and artificial intelligence is expected to be a package that
helped the industry in bringing new devices and improvements in the analysis and collection of
the data related to healthcare. The diagnostics of the patients are shifted from the hospitals to
their own homes by the utilization of Artificial intelligence that helped in screening cancer at
their home only. The use of Artificial Intelligence aided wearable devices to have the capability
to track the habits and data about the anomaly activities of the human body, this data is later
analyzed to obtains the details about the health condition of the patients (Herrmann et al., 2018).
The disruptive technology can only improve the activities happened in the past and obtain a
better result to utilize that in the coming future.
The aim of the disruptive technology is to provide customized services to the patients in
need. The healthcare bodies are also opting for the technologies for providing better treatment to
their patients. It is very much relevant that the start-ups are the pioneer user of these technologies
and one such company is MySugar. This company is a working professional in the field of
healthcare, they provide treatment via mobile, which is affordable to all and easier to obtain their
services (Terry, 2017). The company has helped nearly 1 million people in controlling their

diabetics with the aid of disruptive technology. Their device analyses their health condition prior
to the doctor’s check-ups and provides all the necessary details about their insulin level in the
body. Their device all predict on the basis of the patient’s health data that they are required to
visit their doctor or not. The Artificial Intelligence-based mobile application is helping the
patient in personalizing the MySugar application to tackle all the activities assigned for one
particular person (mySugr - Make Diabetes Suck Less!, 2020). When the person using the
application is putting their health data in the app, by the virtue of artificial intelligence the rest of
the activities and tasks are arranged to follow. Hence, in these ways, the sugar level in the body
is maintained.
The other technologies that can provide advantages to the company are wearable devices
like a smartwatch. The development of the smartwatch which will be connected to the
application can improve the usability of the application better (Jung & Padman, 2015). The
smartwatch will have the sensors that can directly measure the sugar level in the blood while
staying in contact with the body and directly provide the statistics of health in the application.
This will reduce the effort of the patient to manually put the data in the application and obtain the
results.
The advantages that disruptive technologies can provide the company are automation, the
availability of the functionality that automatically captures the data about the health of the
patient. The already present information of the patient is integrated with the current data and
provide useful information that is helpful for the patient in their next appointment with the
doctor. The technologies will not only provide the benefits as mentioned above but also help the
patients as well as the doctors to take efficient and effective decisions in the medical field for the
patients.

3DISRUPTIVE TECHNOLOGIES
The healthcare industry is the most important industry which has included disruptive
technologies throughout the world. All the possible benefits of the emerging technologies
starting from 3D printing, robotics, use of drones, wearable, virtual reality technology and
several other technologies are incorporated in this field. The innovations of technology upgrade
the existing devices of healthcare with new and effective features (Ramdorai & Herstatt, 2015).
It is also expected from the innovation that these will have the feature of sustainability. The
products must be convenient, affordable and easy to use as the users of the devices have a huge
range for age. Hence, the advantages that are gained from the innovation are used to deliver cost-
effective solutions to the users.
