In the article, “How Your Birth Order Influences Your Life Adjustment”, adapted from
the essay by Lucille Forer states the reason of formation of mentality regarding life and
particular responsibility and standing in life of an individual is dependent on the order of their
birth. She says that a child’s perception of responsibility and perception of dependency is
directly proportioned to the order of birth in their family. The society and the family as well as a
different set of expectation from the child in the order of their birth. I agree because the family
structure in the society is embedded with the determination of the capacity and the psychological
formation of the individual basing it on the order of the birth. They decide the capability and is
predetermined even in the family how the individual should behave and grow up in the order of
their birth.
To begin with, the formation of this dependency of the children’s capacity and ability as
an individual starts from the family itself. The family members, the parents and the guardians
themselves hold respective and distinctly different expectation from their children. The oldest
child of the family is expected to be more responsible and grow up to be able to provide for their
younger sibling. According to the articles, “The oldest child comes to think about himself in the
same way.” In other words, the oldest child in the family grows up with the sense of
responsibility of providing for their younger siblings, and they feel the burden of responsibility
to be able to provide for them when they turn towards them for help. I can relate to this being a
middle child that every time I need help, I have the option to turn towards my elder brother.
Furthermore, the case of an only child in the family has been put forward correctly by the
author that they are to understand from their very childhood that they have to learn and be able to

were used for imagination, socialization and creativity has been replaced with mindless feeding
of these advertisements. I agree because while growing up, waiting for a school bus used to be a
place where we used to talk about our home works, our innovative plays where our robots turn
into world-saving hero, and some future poet used to sit in the corner and dive into their sea of
thoughts, but now the bus stand, the poles of the buses and the buses themselves are covered
with advertisements of something or the other.
