UK students observed that there are vast differences in teaching patterns, assignment requirements
at the university of Italy. In context to Italy, teachers prefer long syllabus which includes lots of
assignments, posters, essays and many more. This long syllabus and different teaching style are
considered as challenge for UK students who are moving to Italy for higher studies.
This issue is faced by UK students in Italy due to differences in cultural practices of both the
countries. In UK, a specified personal space is provided to individuals whereas in Italy, students
are expected to interact with others they meet on a casual basis. UK students face issues in
maintaining an eye contact and how to greet their peers as well as teachers in Italy.
Italy and UK share differentiated time horizon and has a difference of one hour. This time
difference led UK students to reach at their classes after fixed time which create issues for them as
they do not have time to talk to their friends and families.
In Italy, most professors offer lectures in Italian language. Even of they try to give lectures in
English. It became difficult for UK students to understand their assent properly.
UK students also face challenge in collaborating with Italian individuals due to non-existence of
same hobbies and interests.

Italian universities have organised recreational activities which involve students from both the
countries to connect with each other and indulge in interests of others.
It has been concluded that students face varied challenges while moving to foreign country for gaining higher education. It is imperative for universities to formulate effective
strategies which help students in overcoming their challenges or barriers in regards with effective communication.
Italian universities had organised training sessions for UK students for learning Italian language
and accent so that they can understand lectures given by professors.
For overcoming the challenge of time difference, Italian university designed their time table of
classes in such a way that students can get some time apart from studies and talk to their family.
Italian universities indulged students of both countries in cultural exploring activities on a
constant manner.
