INTRODUCTION
Advocacy refers to a kind of public support regarding suggestion related specific cause or policy
for public welfare. It includes the help of common people to promote specific policy which is in
favour of public for improving their quality of lives. Meanwhile, it involves the
recommendations of specific strategy like supporting children with their health. In context of this
project, it is based on the advocacy which is an essential skill that might be required when
dealing with vulnerable people. It includes the criterion of improving the lives of vulnerable
people for promoting their health condition (Garner and Sandow, 2018). However, it is based on
the case that a pregnant women visit hospital with her partner for regular check-up and practices
carried out by doctor were not appropriate. This assignment will focus on strategies of enhancing
lives of vulnerable people by supporting them in order to improve their quality of life. It will also
include the practices for improving condition of neglect, abuse and harm for increasing comfort
level of people for improving their health condition via enhancing practices in health and social
care.
PART 1

According the select case scenario of pregnant women, it has been analysed that respective
physician was not carried out effective communication with patient and their way of treating was
not appropriate. Meanwhile, it is observed that given women was afraid and not comfortable but
physicians was not handling her properly. It is required for the doctor to make patient
comfortable while they reach to the hospital and make healthy communication with them for
dealing with people. It consist the criterion of making healthy conversation with women because
she was pregnant and effective communication is significant to improve their health condition.
However, the given scenario reflects about uneasy condition of patient due to which nursing staff
should remain supportive and develop mutual understanding with an individual so that they can
share all their problems easily (Davies, 2016). It is favourable to know about every minor and
major health issues of patient which facilitate to increase the accuracy of care facilities. It is
necessary for nurse or midwives to communicate effectively for gaining cooperative behaviour
that is helpful to increase the efficiency of treatment services in health care. Moreover, the active

listening, using short sentences, appoint language transmitter etc. are helpful to make informed
decision making for providing better quality of services for wellbeing of an individual. The use
of technology is an important aspects for improving way of communication along with
increasing accuracy of shared data which facilitate to increase patient outcomes respectively. It is
required for nurse and midwives to main respect and dignity of a patient along with making tem
comfortable while dealing with in proper manner.
In addition to this, the advocacy can be considered as a public support which is required to apply
the recommendation about specific policy for public welfare in the country. In context of
vulnerable people, it is necessary for common people to follow the policies made by government
in order to make it successful. When all the citizens will focus on welfare of vulnerable people
then their quality of lives can be improved. It includes the criterion of focussing on the approach
to encourage people to support the vulnerable people on their individual basis which facilitate to
enhance their standards of lives (Hoefer, 2019). It involves that government can only make
policies and apply the same but they cannot make them successful without support of common
people of the nation. Basically, it has been evaluated that selected case scenario includes partner
of patient should ensure that all the standards of care were followed or not but he ignored all that
which is not appropriate. It is required that adoption of specific policies for improving health of
vulnerable people should be adopted by citizens to enhance their lives. Meanwhile, it is observed
that public should remain aware of any kind of harm, neglect and abuse for putting compliant
regarding the same making queries to nurse or midwives accordingly. When people become
aware of all these aspects and put complaints then automatically nursing staff will follow their
care standards and codes of conduct that impact positively on treatment process of an individual.
The nursing staff plays an important role including that they advocates support to patients best
interest while respecting their family to be involved in decision making of treatment. It includes
the fact that nurse advocates people which becomes facilitators when a person and their family
want discuss related to their uncomfortable information along with exploring their implications.
However, it has been analysed that it includes the criterion of nurse that they need to advocate in
terms of patients against their families (Woodward, Smart and Benavides-Vaello, 2016).
Moreover, it involves that nurse and midwives should promote factor of advocacy as well as
communication for boosting up standards of lives among vulnerable.

Advocacy can be defined as practice of improving the relations with patient in order to provide
more effective as well as efficient manner. It includes number of principles such as clarity of
purpose, safeguard, confidentiality, equality & diversity, empowerment and putting people first.
Basically, these principles are required to be considered by nursing staff for delivering
appropriate care services for welfare of individuals. Initially, it includes the clarity of purpose
like diagnosing specific health problems and provide desired treatment to patient by making
accurate decision of clinical procedures (Mayer, 2016). It includes the criterion for nurse to
remain clear about specific procedure of treatment by discussion with specialist doctor along
with following prescription of the same. Secondly, it involves the safeguarding is known to be an
important aspect for avoiding occurrence of several negative conditions related to neglect, harm
and abuse to save patient effectively. It consist the responsibility of nurses to maintain safety
factors in order to safeguard a person from any kind of harm neglect and abuse along with
reporting of such incidents of observed at work place. Thirdly, it consist the factor of
maintaining confidentiality of an individual by making their information private because a minor
medical issues may develop major social problem them. This problem becomes much critical due
to which a patient may suffer from the same for life long accordingly. It is necessary to maintain
confidentiality of patients which is legally required for increasing patient outcomes along with
satisfying them properly. However, the empowerment is important to make informed decision
making along with providing liability to patient for deciding their treatment process. Moreover,
the most important aspects of advocacy includes the nursing responsibility to provide care
facilities by making decisions via putting patient first which is known as person centred care. It
will facilitate to gain cooperation of an individual and their family to improve their health
condition.
The people are required to remain aware of advocacy and its use in nursing so that nursing staff
will never conduct any misconduct with them it is necessary for common people to remaining
aware of advocacy and its relevant principles to be consider for providing effective treatment
accordingly (George, 2019). Basically, the improved awareness among people is favourable to
make them able to make queries with doctors for ensuring that safeguarding can be maintained
with them in proper manner. It is required for citizens to remain aware of desired principles

related to advocacy which facilitate to deliver better quality of care for wellbeing of individual.
Meanwhile, it has been analysed that there is a potential need of advocacy for formulating
healthy relation between patient and nurses. It involves the criterion of behaving with patient and
their family in proper manner that facilitate to establish mutual understanding with them healthy
relationship is responsible for gaining effective cooperation with sick people that is favourable
for nursing staff to carry out desired clinical procedures for welfare of them. It will provide
support to provide appropriate treatment in order to improve patient health condition along with
securing them from neglect or abuse respectively (Reid and Evanson, 2016). However, the
potential need of increase awareness among people is suitable for developing thought among
nurse and midwives regarding relevant complaints about neglect, harm and abuse to avoid the
same. The care professionals who conduct abuse or neglect become afraid about awareness of
people and relevant legal punishments then these negative factors can be eliminated from health
and social care sector.
The potential need increase the criterion of removing the occurrence of neglect, harm and abuse
by attempt of nursing staff so that people will get care facilities along with safeguarding
respectively. It includes that government should use promotion campaigns for providing
information to common people about advocacy and responsibility of nurses as well as midwives.
It is necessary to encourage citizens to put queries to medical staff regarding any kind of
negative attempt along with legal information for making complaints regarding these activities.

Health condition can be explained as situation of an individual of remaining physically, mentally
and socially wellbeing. This task will focus on brief information about health promotion and key
issues that are responsible for influencing the health condition requires health promotional
events. It will also include the few of examples of experiences related to some of common
problems and relevant health promotion campaigns.
Discuss the definitions of health and health promotion.
Health can be described as condition of an individual to being complete physically, mentally and
socially wellbeing. It includes the condition of people when their physical, psychological and
social state is comfortable and well then it is known as health. However, it is the fact the absence
of health issues or disease is not considered as healthy condition. It involves the several

dimensions of wellness including physical, emotional, intellectual, social, environmental and
occupational (Sharma and Dhar, 2016). It consist the number of health determinants such as
social status & income, social support, support networks, education, employment, personal
health practices, lifestyle, genetics etc. However, it is necessary for people to focus of several
important factors like balanced diet, exercise, mental and social lifestyle.
Health promotion refers to an approach of providing information to common people about
important interventions to avoid disease for maintaining better health condition. It includes the
procedure of making citizens capable for increasing control over and improves their health
status. Basically, it includes several approaches like medical, behavioural change, educational,
client centred and societal change from which suitable one can be used for carrying out
appropriate health promotion campaign for public welfare. It is necessary for care professionals
to carrying out specific promotional events for increasing awareness among individuals for
making their better health condition. It is required for medical practitioners to consider several
principles of health promotion like communication, education, legislation, fiscal measures,
organisational change, community change, community development and spontaneous local
activities (Choi and et. al., 2017). However, it has been analysed that effective models for health
promotion are available from which appropriate one can be used for organising respective
programs for increasing awareness of people. It includes number of models like behavioural
change model, self-empowerment model and collective action model. Moreover, it is very
important for nursing staff to select effective model to increase effectiveness of health promotion
and respective outcomes in terms of public health
Health promotion includes the criterion of utilising effective strategies for delivering information
in proper manner. It includes the strategy of building healthy public policy, create supportive
environment, strength community action, develop personal skills and reorient health services.
Meanwhile, it is necessary for care professionals to work on specific issues like smoking, excess
use of junk food, diabetes, alcohol abuse or drug abuse etc. for which it is required reduced for
enhancing overall health status of population (Wang and et. al., 2016). It is required to evaluate
most critical health problems or habit of lifestyle that is extremely harmful for human body.
Some of lifestyle habit like smoking or substance abuse which is responsible for destroying
youth of the country due to which respective health promotional should be carried out for

people so that they can contribute for improving the economic strength of the country.

The health condition of an individual can be influenced by their eating habits, lifestyle and
genetic factors. It includes the habit of people due to which young people have started the intake
of smoke, tobacco and alcohol by abusive behaviour which impact severely on health status of
them. In the same way, if people have their lifestyle with intake of extra junk food as well as
sedentary behaviour due to which they were more likely at risk of acquiring the condition of
obesity. This health problem is responsible for facilitating occurrence of various other illnesses
including diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol etc. It involves the criterion of
providing information to people that they should remain active and intake balanced diet for avoid
the obese condition along with relevant other health problems. Some of key issues that impact of
health in which requires health promotion are given here.
Unhealthy diet – This includes the eating behaviour and use of habits like smoking or alcohol is
responsible for affecting the health condition of people. It includes the way of eating excess
amount of junk food regularly which facilitates to increase risk of occurring health problems like
obesity and high blood pressure (Ma, Chan and Chen, 2016). However, it has been analysed that
several types of cancers, breathing problems, heart disease etc. can be developed by use of
smoking and alcohol abuse. The drug abuse habits facilitate to create the psychological problems
like stress, depression, traumatic issue and many more. It is necessary for people to intake
balanced diet which helps to maintain better health condition.
Genetic factors – The genetic factors include the features and characters transmit by genes from
one generation to next generation in which some of genes were infected with illness. It includes
the diabetes which can be transmitted generation to generation then it can be considered as
genetically transmitted disease among people. However, it is observed that some of people have
heredity of obesity due to which their children acquire extra fat but they should consult with
doctors to maintain their appropriate heath condition by managing diet and physical activities
accordingly. Moreover, the genetic factors have potential impact on health for which awareness
should be increased to take precautions by efforts of medical professionals.

Sedentary behaviour – This involves the inactive behaviour of people by having sitting job and
lazy behaviour due to which metabolic rate of the human body get disturbed. It includes the fact
that people remain sitting all the time and avoid physical activities like walking, playing games,
offline shopping etc. which is responsible for developing several disease like reduced metabolic
rate, hormonal imbalance etc. However, it is necessary for care practitioners to organise health
promotion campaign to make them understand about the value of physical activities and remain
active in their daily schedule of life.
Considering all the above key issues influencing health should be maintained for organising
effective health promotion events. It includes including brief information about health problems
occurred and information to take precautions. It includes providing knowledge to people about
harmful habits and way to avoid the same. However, it includes mentioning harmful habits
which are required to be avoided along with making citizens aware of severe disease that may
occur.

The health promotion campaign plays an important role for increasing awareness among people
for maintenance of their health condition. It is observed that some of people were not aware of
health issues occurred due to harmful eating habits due to which they prefer them. Meanwhile, it
has been analysed that health promotion campaigns are much effective as well as efficient in
order to encourage people for adopting healthy habits in their lifestyle which results into reduce
in rate of occurring severe illnesses among citizens of the nation. It is required for government to
focus on online promotional events with the help of using social media to promote healthy habits
among citizens which facilitate to decrease rate of occurring infectious disease among entire
population (Seyedamini and et. al., 2018). However, it is necessary for care professionals to
identify specific health problems or relevant harmful habit then they should design an effective
health promotion campaign which facilitate to improve the lifestyle of an individual which so
supportive for marinating better health condition along with enhancing quality of lives.
For example, smoking promotional campaign were organised many times to encourage
youngsters of the country to not become addicted to this habit. It includes to provide them
information about severe disease caused by smoking such as lung cancer, bronchitis, asthma,
emphysema etc. However, it includes the precautions for people to stay away from those
individual who were smoking because active smoking is harmful as well as passive smoking is

also deadly condition. Passive smoking is condition when other person is smoking and released
smoke will enter your nose and mouth.
For instance, the health promotion event should be organised for reduce habit of substance abuse
including drugs and alcohol which is common among some of people. It is observed that few of
people do alcohol abuse daily and then develop stressful environment for their family and
become violent to harm them as well. However, it is necessary for government and medical
practitioners should work together to strictly eliminate this factor of destroying the entire youth
and future of the nation. This event includes to information about harmful impacts and ways for
addictive people to skip them habit by taking support of rehabilitation centres. Government
should run free of cost rehabilitation centre for welfare of addicted people.
CONCLUSION
From the above assignment, it has been concluded that neglect, harm and abuse are such
negative factors that must be eliminated from healthcare sector by efforts of nurses and
midwives. It includes the factor like unhealthy diet, sedentary behaviour etc. which are required
to be improved among people by encouraging them to adopt healthy habits by using effective
health promotion events.
