Cost of implementing the ACA in Health Care Organization
President Obama has touted Affordable Care Act (ACA) to save money on health care
expenditure. However, there are strong anticipations that the federal government will need to
invest more than that which was done previously (Oberlander, 2012). The rise in cost is majorly
caused by the high percent of enrolment under the expanded Medicare program. For those who
are already insures, the company premium will further jump, leading to further increase in the
cost of implementation. If the employment-based coverage declines as a result to Medicaid then
the cost of implementation will increase further (Oberlander, 2012).
Benefits of Implementing the ACA
The benefits of implementing ACA include adequate access to health care via expanded
coverage followed by improved quality and efficiency. The ACA also backs for lower health
care cost and high degree of customer protection. So I belief the implementation of ACA will
uplift the health service portfolio in New York. ACA will contribute to the overall health benefit
of the communities. It will also make them resilient in disasters. Another associated benefit is
exchange of health benefits with optimum support for those who reside between 100 to more
than 300% of the federal poverty level(Beronio, Po, Skopec & Glied, 2014).
Affect of ACA mandate
The principal affect of ACA mandate is opted over an individual who is obliged to
purchase medical insurance. If an employer owns a business with more than 50 employees then it
is mandatory to provide health insurance benefits to the employees (Beronio, Po, Skopec &
Glied, 2014).
