INTRODUCTION
Sustainability refers to business approach in order to create long term valuation by
considering the ways through which the firm operates in the social, ecological as well as
economic environment (Woollings and et.al., 2018). This report will discuss the concept of
climate change in context of African perspective and statement said by Greta Thunberg.
MAIN BODY
Climate change is referred as drastic crisis and happening continuously even more rapid
than anybody feared about. But, it has been identified that no corner of the globe is immune
from destructive consequences of climatic changes. Rise in temperature are fueling
environmental degradation, weather extremes, food and water insecurity, economic disruption,
conflicts as well as natural disasters. Sea levels are rising constantly, Arctic ocean are melting,
oceans are acidifying, along with forests that are constantly burning creates environmental
disasters. From various researches, it has been identified that billions of tons of carbon di oxide
has been released into the atmosphere every year on a constant basis which resulting into gas,
coal and oil production (Bai and et.al., 2018). The State of the climate in Africa which is a
multinational publication coordinated by the world of Meteorological organization provides
recent updates over the climate trends and associated impacts over the economy of Africa just
like into agriculture sector.
It has been evaluated that increasing climatic changes creates threats for human health,
water security, food production as well as socio-economic development within the Africa.
Because of the climatic changes, African continents feels forceful and dangerous impacts the
environment which arises food insecurities, population displacement as well as stress out water
resources. The statement that had been said by the Greta Thunberg that everyone is not suffering
from climatic consequences on equal basis is not correct as the climate changes occurs on global
basis and it highly affects each and every person irrespective of their places or locations. In
recent era, the Africa was faced devastating floods because of global warming, a penetration of
desert locusts and also faces looming apparition of drought.
African temperature in recent decades have been warming at higher rate as comparative
to other continents and hence faster than global mean surface temperature. Extensive areas
within the Africa will exceed the limit of 2 degree Celsius of warming level which is above the

pre-industrial levels by the last few decades. It increases the heat waves as well as hot days in
specified locations. In context of global warming, it also affects the sea level as it also enhances
drastically and coastal degradation along with erosion. It also impacts drastically and generates
major challenges specially in West Africa (Barnes and et.al., 2020). Although, sea level rise is
currently not considered as dominant contributor but is expected to be combined with one
another and became future factor to worsen the negative impacts over environmental changes
and does also contribute in creating certain challenges for Africa.
The global warming greatly impacts and create food security issues as well as health
impacts as increase in temperature and rainfall patterns also affects population health all across
the Africa. Moreover, new diseases also arises which are not currently present or exist into the
world in recent era. Furthermore, it has been analysed that with the rise in temperature in Africa,
the malaria carrying mosquitoes also raises their resistant power over higher altitudes thus
increase malaria cases as well. In order to resolve the issues, the Africa development and climate
change experts creates Paris agreement over climate changes that was unnaturally accepted the
agreement that was a win for the continent. At the Paris summit, 195 countries agreed to cut
down greenhouse emissions of gases and increase adaptation in a manner that keeps the global
temperature enhance to well below 2-3 degree Celsius (Ebi and et.al., 2017). Prior to Paris
conference only 189 countries including each and every African country submitted national
climate plan that illustrates the plans which they are going to follow in order to addresses
climatic changes along with their further actions with respect to finances that are highly required
in future terms to address such kind of issues.
The actions taken by the African countries consists of tapping the continents vast
renewable energy resources such as wind and solar energy. They follow agro value chains
through ecosystem based adaptation approaches which includes agro forestry, conservation
along with efficient irrigation facilities. In addition to that with the inclusion of this agreement,
Africa contributes and spend billions yearly over the oil subsidies which greatly benefits the
richest households (Monasterolo, 2020). This exceeds their spending over the health issues and
redirecting their funds to low carbon initiatives that could go a long way to improve living
standards of the country people. They also highly invest into clean energy which includes wind
and solar energy that are highly economical for electrification in remote areas and hence create
job opportunities within the society.

At the time of commencement of Paris agreements, it has been identified that Africa's
development experts also admit that continents implement great records has never been leading.
However, Africa appears determined to implement the agreements because of the required
changes due to climate dangerous effects. Hence, in order to achieve sustainable and
comprehensive maturation the techniques are highly considerable and implemented to reduce or
lower down the impacts of climate changes over the world. Moreover, the agreement also
contribute their maximum to develop sustainable societies which put the planet as well as people
living in the society at primary level.
CONCLUSION
From the above report it has been concluded that climate change is a major threat to
international peace and security. Their effects over the world heighten the competition for the
resources such as land, food, water, fueling and lead towards mass displacement within the
society. Hence, there are various things that had been done by the Africa in order to lower down
the impacts and effects of climate change over their country. They also provided nature based
resolutions to the world which highly support the challenges that had ben faced by each and
every country.
