It is an evident fact that the aged people, male or female need extra care and cleanliness during
or after undergoing an operation. Cleanliness before and after the operation is done is the most
vital activity which must be taken care of while dealing with the all the patient group in the
operation theater, particularly the aged patients as there is an increased chances of catching
infection. With my skills and ability as a theater scrub nurse, I am able to understand the needs of
the aged patients. During my training period I was given the supervision of an aged male patient
who was being operated in the theater. I was involved in passing the correct instruments to the
surgeon during the time of operation. In addition to this, cleanliness with the correct instrument
was also important part of my routine. At the operation theatre I was capable of handling all the
instruments. Maintaining the sterile filled was my important responsibility at the time of the
operation.
Many arguments followed his treatment that all the items that are kept in the sterile field must

the final year of my post-graduation degree, we were assigned a theoretical and a practical
project which involved both the primary and secondary research on treatment of the aged
patients with disabilities undergone major operations to cure that disability. This project was
allocated for a period of 5 weeks, which was a stringent deadline. I became aware that the
primary research would involve 3 weeks’ time to be spent in the operation theater assisting the
surgeons and then taking down the major changes in the use of the equipment and following the
orders of the doctors or surgeons well as real-time actions as and when required. Therefore, I
tried to breakdown the huge task into minor components and then conducted the primary
research of 6 aged clients one after the other whenever they undergone surgeries or minor
operations. I also made the required points of the care process and the need or use of new
equipment in all the cases, as every case was different from each other. This took me 2 weeks to
complete the primary research by visiting the patients who were admitted to the hospital and
undergone operations and types of operations, Thereafter, the secondary research was carried out
which lasted for 1 week only. In this way I completed my task within the given deadline.
Proven ability to work collaboratively to achieve goals within a diverse team
environment
With my expertise in team works at the operation theater, I was able to find out about those
students in my university as scrub nursing practice who did not socialize or communicated with
each other whenever the theoretical or practical classes were conducted, either in the classrooms
or in the demo operation theater. As a result, they kept themselves aloof from the rest of the
groups. This created problems when assisting the doctors. Belonging to the minor community,
they found themselves isolated from the rest of the population. I tried to make communication

with them during one of the surgeries of an aged patient (at Vancouver Hospital) by making
them part of the scrub nurse group and announced for a competition which required them to
participate for their upcoming project, i.e. knowledge on the instruments used in Operation
Theater and its analysis. They all joined me for the project in the practical
