INTRODUCTION
Modernisation can be understood as a model in regard to the evolutionary transition from a
traditional to modern society. Historians have linked the theories of modernisation with the
practices with respect to industrialisation as well as urbanization in a strategic manner (Emerson,
2018). When modernisation increase in society then individual tries to explicit their families.
This report is based on Ageing Nepal. It is considered a national leading establishment which is
working for the rights of older people. It is a non-profit organisation that is registered with Nepal
Government as well as affiliated with Social Welfare Council. This organisation was formulated
in 2011 and since then they are working for the right of old people. Their main objective is to
work for older people and protect their interests as well as rights in an effective manner (About
Aging Nepal, 2022). They are working towards providing a healthy as well as productive life to
old people. They work on fulfilling their vision to provide an environment that is full of varied
facilities and services whereby the needs of old people are gets fulfilled in an effective manner.
This organisation will help to understand the work being done by NGOs and the challenges
being faced by them. This project report demonstrates knowledge about a theme of
modernisation and reforms for assessing comparative governance as well as public
administration in an effective manner. It also delves into an understanding of internal challenges
as well as external factors which can influence organisations in an adverse manner.
Basic things for selecting the organisation
Ageing Nepal organisation is chosen for this project because it is a non-profitable
establishment that essentially works for protecting the interests of older people. The theme
chosen for this project is modernisation and reforms which streamlines with the chosen
organisation. I totally believe that Ageing Nepal takes care about the modern trend in the market
and this helps them to serve the requirements of the members (Pradhan, 2019). It will help to
analyze the actions being taken by NGOs to bring modernisation. There is a lot of interference
that the organisations have to face while working. It is necessary to take care of the public
administration and governance agenda. This organisation works to provide effective services to
the old people so that they are also able to learn and live good life. I am interested to know about
the functioning of the NGOs. The charitable trust provides various benefits to the public and
there is a need of letting them work effectively. By considering this organisation, I will be able to

explore the services provided by these organisations in national and international contexts. They
always work on the problems and try to find out the solution to a problem that might take place.
The process of working is different from the public or private businesses as their motive is to
earn profit. The main aim of the Ageing Nepal organisation is to provide services to old people
so that their work is balanced (Coccia, 2020). They work for the right of old people and solve
their concerns. Know about the challenges faced by these organisations it is given consideration.
Internal challenges faced by the Ageing Nepal organisation
There are various issues that can be faced organisation at the time of their operations. The
nature of the environment is dynamic and it is important to work according to the situation. The
government controls the businesses and provides them with direction to work. These
organisations have to work according to the orders that they get so that there is smooth
functioning (El Ammar and Profiroiu, 2020). There is a need of providing the best to the
members of the organisation. There is a key role of internal factors in working of the company. It
is important for the organisations to maintain effective conditions so that they can attain success.
There are different stakeholders that have an interest in the company and there is key role of
satisfying all of them. There are various problems that can take place at the time of operations. If
the company is unable to manage their internal working then a lot of problems take place. The
internal challenges faced by the Ageing Nepal organisation are as follows:
Lack of strategic planning: One of the major internal challenges that is being faced by
the Ageing Nepal organisation is the lack of strategic planning (Manolache and Et. Al., 2018).
The company works without strategic planning and due for this reason most of its plans fail in
between. They do not have the right direction to carry on their work and due to this reason, there
is confusion. The good ideas within them are not successful due to a lack of planning. Ageing
Nepal directly start working on the idea and do not consider the strategic ways of doing the
work. It becomes necessary for them to start the process of planning and using the right
strategies that will help them to manage the work. There is a need of taking such actions that will
help their management to work in the best suitable manner (Önder and Zengin, 2022). There are
major problems that are being faced due to lack of planning and they are unable to achieve goals
and objectives.
Unskilled employees: The employees of the charitable organisation are not that skilled.
Ageing Nepal hires employees so that they can continue their operations. It is seen that this

causes in competing the work with efficiency. The productivity of Ageing Nepal organisation
gets reduced due to the ineffective working of the employees. There is a key role in providing
training to the employees on regular basis. This will lead to their ongoing progress so that goals
and objectives are attained properly.
Lack of maintenance: This is another challenge that causes a problem for the Ageing
Nepal organisation. They have a lack of infrastructure that causes barriers to their smooth
functioning. It is not possible for them to maintain the same lifestyle and this causes issues. They
do not work to earn profit and that is the reason there is a lack of maintenance. It is necessary to
provide better conditions to the employees so that they are able to work effectively (Farazmand,
2019). The projects undertaken by them must be carried on the right time so that there is no
problem faced afterward.
Poor Cooperation: The employees of Ageing Nepal have poor cooperation which causes
problems for their team working. There are conflicts that take place due to working without
cooperation. This causes problems in carrying out the work and is unable to achieve the targets
on time (Kaufmann and Lafarre, 2021). This is the reason that the employees must be given
proper training so that they are able to work in a team by Ageing Nepal. This will help them to
manage the overall work and attain a better position. The management must provide guidance so
that they are able to carry on the work and attain success by cooperating with the team members.
Internal politics: It is seen that there is internal politics in the Ageing Nepal and that
causes problems for the working members. Politics is the reason of the negative work culture in
the organisation. It is seen that some members of the Ageing Nepal organisation are indulged in
politics and give priority to some of the people. This demotivates others and they are not able to
achieve their goals and objectives. Politics is problematic for the organisation and working. It is
important to reduce the politics that take place in the organisation. This keeps the employees
motivated so that they are able to carry on the work effectively.
Lack of commitment: There is the key role of being committed to work so that better
results are attained. If the business and all the working individuals are committed to their work,
then they are able to get better output (Elstub and Escobar, 2019). The lack of commitment is the
reason for not carrying out the work on time in Ageing Nepal. Due to this reason, they face
complexities and carrying the work. It is necessary to teach all the employees importance of time
management so that they are able to carry on work at the right time.
5

Lack of resources: The problem of finance is being faced by these charitable
organisations. The available resources are not updated and this causes a problem for the Ageing
Nepal organisation to carry on the work. There are certain issues that take place due to the non-
availability of a resource (Wu and et.al., 2021). The employees are not able to work with fuller
potential and attain better targets. The management of resources is necessary for the business and
to attain the objectives at right time.
All these are the internal challenges that are being faced by the Ageing Nepal
organisation. These must be eliminated so that better results are achieved. There is a need of
taking all the necessary actions for the growth and development of the organisation. This will
help to overcome the situation and provide benefits to their members. The organisation has the
aim of serving the order people and fighting for their rights this can be done if all the challenges
will be eliminated.
External factors in regard to political and cultural factors
External factors encompass those forces which are uncontrollable and impact operations of
an organisation in an adverse manner. External factors which can affect establishments majorly
consist of political, technological, socio-cultural, economic, and legal aspects in case of Ageing
Nepal. There is a key role in analysing the external environment and the impact of the same on
the business (Jreisat, 2019). The nature of the environment is dynamic and there is a need of
taking care of all the changes that take place. By assuring that work is done in an effective
manner the organisation will achieve success. By carrying out research in an effective manner
the challenges can be examined by the organisation and they will be able to overcome them.
There are various external factors that impact the working of the organisation in a different
manner. It becomes important to manage the work as per the situation. The external factors cause
opportunities and challenges and they are mentioned below:
Political: Political environment encompasses specified conditions, rules, and regulations of
government framed by the government to make compliance with organisations in a static
manner. There are varied political conditions that affect business operations in Nepal. The
political power is in the hands of the Prime minister who takes major decisions (Shrestha and
Subedi, 2022). There is an unstable government condition in Nepal that causes various
problems. It is seen that the regular changes in the policies and frameworks is a challenge for
the Ageing Nepal organisation. The smooth functioning of the organisation takes place if there
6

is political stability (Dimitrova, 2020). But Nepal faces the problems of unstable political
conditions and due to this reason, the working of Ageing Nepal is also not smooth. The policies
restrict the operations of the Ageing Nepal organisation. The charitable organisations require
trust and support of the government but they are unable to get the same in Nepal. There is lack of
bond seen in these nations that causes a lot of problems and the work is not managed in an
effective manner. The NGOs work to fight for human rights and they themselves have to face
some challenges at the time of operating in the market. Ageing Nepal organisation have to face
policy complexity due to the changes taking place.
Economic: The economic factors include inflation rate, employment rate, interest rate,
demand and supply, GDP, buying power of the customers etc. It is seen that Nepal is at a
growing stage and there are support businesses that provide them support and contribute to GDP.
The operations of the aging people could be affected. There are major uncertainties that the
Ageing Nepal could face in the market (Peters, 2018). In order to support the people who will
live in the trust needs to be taken care of in a good way. Ageing Nepal need to provide the
desired salaries to the individuals which will take care of the people. The organisation Ageing
Nepal need to follow all the rules and policies. The government is also implementing new
changes. The organisation needs to follow them in an effective manner to achieve great results in
the future. There is a significant risk in attracting candidates who can do volunteer work. Due to
the low growth in the GDP, the main risk is of unemployment. Ageing Nepal needs to provide
the right salaries to the volunteers to make them responsive in their actions. Through this, they
are able to provide better services and find stability in carrying out certain operations. If Ageing
Nepal will get good monetary support then they will be able to bring modernisation.
Socio-cultural: Nepal is one of the growing countries in this nation multiple individuals is
totally dependent on agriculture. There are different industries that are likely impacted with the
help of social factors. It includes the local population changes, and failures to allocate the right
staff. In relation to Ageing Nepal, they need to identify different aspects which could help them
to perform better in different situations. This charitable trust can provide better opportunities to
individuals which want to work and creates a difference in society (Madsen, 2022). There are
also absences in the legitimate training which is provided to the candidates. The organisation can
hire a professional who provides the right training to the individuals. This will help the
organisation to provide better services and more importantly it is beneficial for the needy people.

There are multiple demographic changes that might influence the expectancy of the results.
There are buying patterns that could impact the services of aging people in a negative manner.
They need to comply with it in an effective manner to achieve great results in the region. The
challenge is that all the people working together belong to different backgrounds and this causes
a challenge for the organisation to manage them.
Technological: The technological factors are most important to be followed and analyzed
by Ageing Nepal. It is the main role of the management of the organisation to implement key
information and technology factors in order to perform quick and accurate operations. The main
technological factors like advanced computer systems and software must be used by the
organisation to develop an effective approach (Androniceanu, 2021). Key technological
challenges which are faced by Ageing Nepal create hurdles and obstacles for the organisation to
perform operations in a systematic and precise manner. The organisation must hire professional
and trained IT experts in order to manage key operations related to IT. The Ageing Nepal
organisation must also use key information and technology-based tools like management
information systems and decision support systems to perform further operations. The
organisation could also implement IT-related rules and regulations in order to perform effective
services which result in increased customer satisfaction. The trust can also heavily invest in the
technology to perform better in different aspects (Kuhlmann and Wollmann, 2019). But there are
regular updates in the technology and this causes problems for the operations of organisation.
There is need of modernisation and reforms so that work is done in an effective manner. They
face a lack of resources to bring modernisation. There is need of funds and effective manpower
that can help the trust to be more efficient.
Legal: The laws and legislations that are applicable in the nation come under this category.
There is a need of analyzing the situation and following all the applicable laws so that work is
carried out in an effective manner (Lian, 2021). The Ageing Nepal organisation has to become
accountable to the government and implement good control over them. A lot of interference from
government is a challenge that they have to face due to the structure of organisation. Multi-level
governance is a challenge that the management of the Ageing Nepal organisation has to face in
order to carry on the work assigned. The laws and legal structure of Ageing Nepal makes it
accountable for all the stakeholders. The members are answerable and accountable for all the

work that they have done. It is necessary for the charitable trsut to take care about the actions
being understaken by them
Environmental: There is a key role in taking proper care of the environment. Ageing
Nepal organisation assures that they do not harm the environment and take care of the resources
provided. It becomes necessary to stop the wastage of resources and not cause any harm to the
environment. Ageing Nepal organisation assures that they take care of environment and do not
cause any harm.
These are the external challenges that are faced by the Ageing Nepal organisation. By
understanding the challenge, the next step is to take precautionary actions that will help to attain
a successful position in the market. This will help them to manage the overall work and serve
their old members effectively. They are working to safeguard the interest of older people so they
must be provided better support and care.
