Medtronic Public Limited Company is known to be medical technology and service firm.
The organization aims to deliver, manufacturer and market for clinical devices and technologies.
These devices are manufactured to around 160 countries to hospitals, clinics and patient (Nielsen
2019). The organization comes up with four major segments that are cardiac and vascular group,
minimum invasive technology group, diabetes group and lastly therapies group. This stand out to
be foundation of many Medtronic, which makes use of electrical stimulation (Martin and Burrus
2017). In the last few years, the organization has developed technology which is inclusive of
implantable mechanical device and energy surgical instrument. At present, this technology can
be used for treating around 40 medical conditions.
Answer to Question 2
Machine learning in the domain of medicine is recently in headlines. The point should be
noted that machine learning provides much better outcomes in comparison to others. Algorithm
can easily provide benefits in the domain of disciplines with processes which are easily
reproducible or even standardized (Doshi-Velez and Kim 2017). Machine learning can be used
for training to look at images, identification of abnormal activities. It can be even used to point
some of the area which requires attention.
Medtronic is one of medical device manufacturing company which is forging into
artificial intelligence. It is focusing to provide assistance to diabetic patient in managing their
condition effectively for enhanced quality of life. Medtronic come up with Sugar IQ app, which
is a mobile personal assistant. It has been developed with respect to collaboration with IBM
Watson. The organization claims that the application helps in continuous monitoring of blood
glucose level. It is achieved by analysis the generated data from glucose sensors and insulin

pumps. The given devices are attached to body of user (Bischl et al. 2016). Model or even
algorithm is generally built on data from more 10,000 diabetic’s patient. It helps in improving
the blood glucose level that fall out healthy ranges. This technology will be used to carry out
predictive analysis.
By keeping a track of Sugar IQ app, which is a personal assistant application and
individual can have the desired outcome.
Answer to Question 3
The machine learning project which will support the business outcome is Sugar IQ. The
organization has come up with regular glucose meter and insulin pumps. These are physical
device used by people for insulin therapy for monitoring level of glucose and administer the
insulin.
The application comes up with list of benefits which can support the business outcome
like
Insights: The application aims to uncover behavior which is associated with pattern of
glucose, personalized message and deliver it in real-time (Sidiropoulos et al. 2017). It will
merely help people suffering from diabetes to analyze how particular action and habits which
affect the glucose level.
Glycemic assist: People who are suffering from diabetes can easily put the application to
follow some particular food or therapy. The application is helpful in analyzing the effect of the
given items on their glucose level.

As a result of growing popularity of wearable technology aims to highlight the important
biometric data which is on diet, sleep, medication and lastly exercise. With these technological
development, it is becoming very much easy to capture. The mere challenge is all about gaining
action from a huge volume of data (Nielsen 2019). It is merely delivered to users in quick way,
which helps in decision making. The point should be noted that this smart phone based assistant
does not have any kind of risk associated with it. It is a digital diabetes assistant which connect
system user that is joined by either Medtronic or IBM Watson. It comes up with new kind of
feature which make of artificial intelligence for future glucose events.
It comes up with list of feature known as IQcast, which can be analyzing whether an
individual has low, medium or high dropping of glucose level. The application can make use of
artificial intelligence for predicting the blood sugar level of individual. Sugar. IQ is merely
meant for diabetics which can have multiple kinds of injection. Here everything is completely
based on Medtronic Guardian Connect System (Martin and Burrus 2017). The application
provides personalized alerts along with motivational insight. This particular application is at the
right stage and will not provide any kind of challenges in near future.
