AI Summary
This research proposal investigates how artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming future shopping experiences in the retail industry, focusing on a case study of TESCO. It outlines the rationale for the research, highlighting the need for rapid transformation and upgrades of legacy systems to comply with privacy regulations and data security. The aim is to analyze the impact of AI on TESCO, identify ways AI is changing the shopping experience, and address challenges associated with its implementation. The proposal details a deductive research approach, employing a descriptive research design and mono method for data collection. Both primary data from TESCO employees (via sampling) and secondary data from published sources will be used. The proposal also discusses validity, reliability, and data analysis methods, including qualitative (thematic) and quantitative analysis techniques. The research aims to provide valuable insights into the evolving role of AI in the retail sector.

Title: Artificial intelligence is transforming the future shopping experiences in
retail industry.
Introduction:
In the present scenario of covid 19 virus there are many retail brands who are forced to close the
doors and open up for Artificial intelligence adoption. As per various studies many retail
business leaders have indicated that they are preparing their workforce for having skills for AI
adoption (Nayak and Singh, 2021). Present research proposal is based on setting an overview of
the different research methodologies that will form the basis for future research work that will
be conducted.
Rationale:
In context of present research work the personal perspective will be that it is going to help in the
process of developing the required researching skills. In professional context the research will set
the basis of developing detailed overview of the way artificial intelligence is changing the
process of future experiences in retail sector. There is need of rapid transformation and up-
gradation of legacy systems that will be understood in detail to comply with privacy regulations
and data security to balance strategic priorities in up coming time period.
Aim: "To analyse the way artificial intelligence is transforming the future shopping
experiences in retail industry.” A study on TESCO
Objectives:
To understand the impact of artificial intelligence in TESCO
To identify the ways in which artificial intelligence is transforming the future shopping
experiences in TESCO
To analyse various challenges associated with implementation of technologies of
Artificial intelligence in TESCO.
Research methodology:
Approach: Research approach is regarded as the process of evaluating the gathered information
in an effective manner. This approach is basically divided in two types that includes deductive

and inductive approach. These two approaches are very helpful in the process of detalining the
process of collecting data easily.
Inductive approach: It is described the type of approach which helps investigator in the process
of development of theory and not accepting the behaviour of already established theory (Walker,
Lin and McCline, 2018). This approach is generally used to evaluate the qualitative and
secondary information.
Deductive approach: It is a very helpful for the purpose of evaluating information that is
quantitative and numerical form. This approach will help in concentrating on statistical
information.
Justification: In present report there will be use of deductive approach for having effective and
effective analysts. This approach will help in the process of evaluating of information an
attainment of aims and objectives.
Design: Research design is defined as the method, techniques and frameworks which are used by
researcher to collect, evaluate and use the information, there are three types of research design
that includes exploratory, experimental; and descriptive.
Descriptive research design: In this main motive is to descriptive a situation, population or
phenomenon (Sim and et.al., 2018). It is a research design that mainly focuses on information
that is collected in quantitative form.
Exploratory: It is a type of research design which is conducted to identify the issues when
researches is having no prior data and have some limited studies as reference.
Experimental: This research design is regarded as situation here participants are allocated
different groups in a experiment.
Justification: All the above mentioned methods are and can be used by researcher for collection
and determination of data with respect to laid investigation topic. It is important for investigator
to select relevant, accurate and valid method for having appropriate information to achieve
defined outcomes (MacDonald, , 2020).
Methods: research choice is related with introduction of process of collection data with response
to subject or laid topic. It facilitates the process of having reliable, relevant and authentic
information. There are three types of methods that includes mono method, mixed method and
multi method.

Mono method: It is regarded as the choice where investigator posses only one type of
information. In this researcher is required to make choices between quantitative and qualitative
research work.
Mixed method: It is regarded as the research choice which helps investigator in selection of
quantitative and qualitative information. It is effective method that can assist investigator in
attainment of research objectives (Hoddy, 2019).
Multi method: Multi method is also part of research choice that can facilitate the process of
collecting qualitative and quantitative information.
Justification: As per the research the investigator there will be selection of mono method, in
present research work investigator will be focussing on collection of gathering information so
that objectives can be achieved in specific time duration.
Data collection: There are different methods of collecting data with respect to a research work
that can be used as per specification. Such as data collection is regarded as the strategy that is
carried by the investigator for collection and determination of data related to instigation topic.
For investigator it becomes necessary to have relevant, accurate and valid method of collecting
information so that defined outcomes can be achieved (Eisend and Kuss, 2019). Data collection
is mainly divided in two types that includes primary and secondary data collection method.
Primary data collection: Primary data collection method is regarded as the type of research that
facilitate investigator in accumulation of first hand and raw information. In this information is
directly select from identification sources.
Secondary data collection: it is defined as the type that focuses on collecting information from
published sources, in this information is already existing and researches focussed on addressing
of such gaps that are published data, it may include articles, journals, publication, magazines,
reputed newspaper.
Justification: In present research there will be data collection both from primary and secondary
sources of information. Primary data is used for having relevant and appropriate data to be
gathered from selected participants. The respondents will involve employees who are presently
Woking in TESCO.
Participants: Participants for the purpose of collecting the primary segment of information will
include employees who are working in TESCO. There will be sampling of the whole population
that will be done it is a procedure in which specific sample selected, it becomes important for

investigator to choose respondent as per the needs of attaining pre defined objectives and aims.
sampling is divided in two types that includes probability & non probability sampling.
Probability sampling: It is regarded as method that helps in selection of respondents without any
pre determined criteria, there is selection of large number of respondent from given popularity,
this is sampling method which is to be used when there is availability of very short time period.
There will be a sample size of 40 respondents which will be included in the present research
work.
Non probability sampling: It is a sampling method that is used when selection is based on
specific criteria and requirements, this process generally takes longer time period as there is non
random basis selection of respondents.
Validity and reliability: reliability and validity are the concepts adopted for evaluating the
research. It indicates the best technique, method that is to be used for testing the research
outcomes. In present research work the information collected is reliable as there is checking of
result consistent across time period. The developed research in the present research work is
going to assist in the future course of achieving the laid aims and objectives.
The information is also valid as it will be collected from two identified sources that includes
primary and secondary, the primary sources will enhance the validity of the research work.
Data analysis: data analysis is the process of application of systematic, logical and statistical
techniques for describing and illustrating the data. There are different analytic procedures which
can be used to draw inference from the data.
There are different data analysis methods which can be used by the researcher as per
requirements such methods are mentioned below:
Qualitative analysis: This method mainly answers questions of “why”, “what” and “how”. Each
of such questions are addressed by use of quantitative techniques that may include attitude
scaling, standard outcomes, questionnaires, this analysis is generally used when the information
is in form of narratives and texts.
Quantitative analysis: In this information is measured in terms of numbers, the data is presented
in measurement scales and further extend for proper statistical manipulation.
Thematic analysis: It is a method that is used for analysing the qualitative data. In present
research report there will be fowling up of a six step process in order to analyse the data. Such as
Document Page
it includes familiarization, coding, generation of themes, reviewing themes, defining of themes,
naming and further writing them.
Thematic analysis is a approach that will be very useful when there will be evaluation of data to
get proper overview of the the data collected before it is further analysed.
