Report
AI Summary
This report provides a detailed analysis of air quality management, focusing on the primary pollutants resulting from combustion processes, the ambient air quality standards established under Irish statute law, and the sources of these pollutants. It examines the health and environmental impacts of these pollutants, outlines the operation of the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) ambient air quality network in Ireland, and describes the Air Quality Index (AQI) system. The report also covers the different air quality zones in Ireland, identifies problem areas and pollutants, and discusses Air Quality Management Plans. Additionally, the report addresses current problems and threats to air quality in Ireland, and provides a description of an isokinetic extractive (wet chemical) sampling method to determine particulate emissions from an exhaust stack in a food drying process. The report also explains how the EPA's air quality reporting system works.

INTRODUCTION
Air quality play an important role in a country as it determines the valuable air which is inhaled
by the citizens of a country (Bagoulla, 2020). Government of concerned economy works hard in
order to create a better environment and also improve the quality of air services in its operations.
In this report brief pollution analysis created by combustion are mentioned along with air quality
standard related to them. This report also includes various impacts and consequences of air
pollution in a country. In this report Air quality mechanism of Ireland is explained which states
the pollution control efficiency of the Island.
MAIN BODY
Primary pollutants as a result of combustion
Combustion is the one of the major causes of air pollution for Ireland, it is generally a chemical
process which happens when a substance reacts with oxygen and then heat is generated. The
process of combustion gives rise to several primary pollutants like Carbon monoxide, carbon
dioxide, sulphur, nitrogen dioxide, nitric oxide and several hydrocarbons. In the environment of
Ireland these pollutants cause air pollution which is very harmful for citizens (Naughton, and et.
al., 2018).
Air quality standards set by Irish statue law
Irish statue law and European Union have issued several guidelines in order to control the
pollution which is caused by pollutants. The present EU directives has set limit and issued
guidance values on suitable maximum ground level concentrations (GLC) for several pollutants
(Derwent, and et. al., 2018). In order to protect human health as well as environment,
government of Ireland is very much serious in controlling pollutants which are ruining the air
quality of its economy. Irish statue law has issued several guidelines for several industries and
set a definite amount of penalties and fines on industries which are not following them.
Government of Ireland has also introduced several environmental policies which are effective in
maintaining air quality in the environment.
Sources of pollutants
The process of combustion majorly happens in fossil fuel production which is generally
happens in coal or oil processing. These pollutants as a result of combustion are also

caused from renewable fuels which are firewood, cooking or electricity production
process. These above mentioned activities cause major pollution in Ireland and decreases
the air quality in a precise manner. These sources are also beneficial for the country, but
citizens suffer from various respiratory disease during their livelihood.
Impacts on human health
The pollutants which are result of air quality, effects the lungs of human beings which is very
dangerous. The air pollutants causes major diseases like ischemic heart disease, stroke, chronic
obstructive pulmonary diseases which can also lead to death of a person. Human health is
adversely affected in Ireland by the consequences of bad air quality caused by several
environmental pollutants (Boogaard, and et. al., 2017). In order to deal with various
consequences of air quality, government of Ireland is introducing several regulations and
policies.
CONCLUSION
From the above stated report it can be concluded that air quality generally plays a critical
role in determining human health issues in an economy. This report concludes that there are
various dangerous elements which are related to air quality and they are caused by process
of combustion. This report also concludes that government of a country tries hard to control
air pollutants in order to provide safe quality to its citizens in a precise manner.
