Air Traffic Passenger Movement Analysis for Pattern Forecasting

This report provides an analysis of air traffic passenger movement data to discover patterns and trends for forecasting. The project began with the goal of analyzing air transport data to aid decision-making for stakeholders. Data was collected from secondary sources and oral interviews, analyzed using tools like Tableau and Excel Solver, and the results were documented with recommendations. The analysis covers passenger and aircraft movements, inbound and outbound trends, and top airports in Australia. The report also includes individual contributions, teamwork strategies, conflict handling, and suggestions for improving future projects, such as increased funding for data collection and streamlined access to airports for interviews. Limitations and recommendations for future research are also discussed, emphasizing the need for more extensive literature review and institutional support for similar projects.

Introduction
We started the project with the clear objective of analyzing air transport data to discover trends
and patterns to help various stakeholders in decision making. This objective was realized since
relevant data was gathered through secondary sources and oral interviews an analysis was done,
results were documented and recommendations made. The whole project was framed in a way
that the various stakeholders will be able to understand and interpret the results easily in order to
make decisions from the patterns and trends.
Individual Contribution Statement
Every group member was assigned a unique role, in my case I was allocated the role of
developing the introduction, conclusion, references and the PowerPoint in the project. I executed
this effectively with constant consultation with the group members on the content and asking
them to proofread what I had documented.
Team Work
The project work was divided into four different tasks to be completed in a set timeline. Each
member was assigned a unique task and given a strict guideline to complete the task. The
guidelines and timelines were arrived at by consensus by all the members. Throughout the
project we all consulted with each other on how best we should handle our tasks.
Strategies used
We embraced unity and the spirit of doing consultations with each other to seek clarity where the
instructions given were unclear. This ensure that we forge forward and produce a reliable project
to help achieve the objective of guiding air transport stakeholders in decision making. In data
collection we used secondary data and oral interviews which proved to be quite reliable.
Individual team member’s roles
All members were left with the task of proofreading the final report besides the individual
assigned tasks. However from time to time we could chip in and help any member who seemed
to be experiencing difficult in executing their assignment.
Conflicts handling
There were minimal conflicts during the execution of the project. The conflicts were professional
such as during the assignment of the individual tasks there was an argument on the task division
which was resolved by a group consensus among the members. There was also an argument on
the funding of the project especially oral interview data collection which was resolved by
carrying out contributions to fund the member who was carrying out interviews on the airport
passengers and the various stakeholders. There were other minor issues on the tools to be used

for data analysis in which we settled on tableau and excel solver after a thorough analysis on
secondary sources.
Criticism
The literature review part should have been expanded more since in my research I discovered
that there is extremely a lot of content on this subject thus more needed to be done.
Recommendations
It is my believe and suggestion that institutions should fund professional projects like this ones
and in the case where oral interviews are to be conducted the institutions should do bookings for
the same since in a case like this one it was difficult to access some airports and the document
presentation process in order to access some of them was tedious.
