Report
AI Summary
This report presents an analysis of air traffic and passenger movement data in Australia, aiming to discover patterns and trends for forecasting. The analysis covers international, regional, and domestic airlines, utilizing data collected from government and other authentic sources, including airport-wise data from 1985-2017. The methodology involved interviews with stakeholders in the air transport sector, and the use of tools like Tableau and Excel Solver for data analysis and visualization. The report discusses challenges faced during data collection, such as obtaining permissions and uncooperative interviewees, and highlights the strategies used for conflict resolution within the team. Key findings include the identification of major trends and patterns in passenger and aircraft movements, with a focus on top ten airports in Australia. The report concludes with recommendations for future projects, including the provision of funding for data collection activities and a call for more comprehensive data visualization.

ANALYSIS OF AIR TRAFFIC PASSENGER MOVEMENT DATA TO DISCOVER PATTERNS FOR FORECASTING 2
Introduction
The artefact we worked on is the analysis of air traffic and passenger movement data in Australia
to discover patterns, trends and help in forecasting. A thorough research was done on the subject
followed by an in-depth analysis to discover the trends and patterns in both international,
regional and domestic airlines.
Individual Contribution Statement
Our group consisted of four members with each member being assigned a unique task in order to
ensure integrated contribution. I was assigned the task of data collection for the project including
conducting oral interviews on the various stakeholders in the air transport sector. The various
stakeholders in the Australia air transport field were interviewed in the process of project data
collection.
Team Work
Our team consisted of four members, we worked together in every aspect and assigned each
member a unique task with a mutually agreed timeline and execution guideline. The team
worked together in resolving all the conflicts such as on which tools to use for analysis and each
member’s task.
Strategies used
The tableau tool and excel solver helped in data analysis and graph development to make the
data more understandable and patterns easily noticeable.
Challenges
There was a challenge while conducting the oral interviews where some of the stakeholders were
not friendly and some of them did not want to be interviewed.
There was also the challenge of obtaining permission from the relevant authorities to interview
the airport staff. The process was complicated and needed many documents as prove that it was
an academic survey.
Individual team member’s roles
Every team member was assigned a unique task. We divided the tasks in the project into four
parts comprising the writing of the introduction, references, and conclusion and developing the
power point slides, the data analysis, documenting of results and discussion, data collection and
finally the writing of the literature review and project proof reading. Each group member was
assigned one task and given a timeline and the agreed guideline on how to do the project.

Conflicts handling
There was an argument over the four tasks where most group members wanted the data
collection task but it was resolved through a mutual agreement that all the work was being done
for the group’s common good and besides everyone being assigned a unique task we would all
chip in to help one another to make our work easier and more accurate.
Risk Mitigation
To ensure the reliability of the project the data was collected from reliable sources and compared
from various sources. The tools used for analysis were agreed upon by all members to ensure the
accuracy of the results. After completion all members were given the opportunity to go through
the whole project to ensure that it satisfies all the requirements.
Critic
I have an issue with some the data used in the project which I think is more of an approximation
that the real data. I feel that the member who conducted the data analysis should have included
more graphs in the various passenger and aircraft categories to make the project clearer.
Recommendations
For future project of this kind students should be provided with the funds to conduct their studies
for instance in the case of data collection funds should be provided to help those travelling to
various places to conduct oral interviews operate smoothly.
