AI Summary
This report presents an analysis of air traffic passenger movement data aimed at discovering patterns and trends to aid in forecasting. The project involved data collection through oral interviews and secondary sources, with analysis conducted using Excel Solver and Tableau. The report details the strategies used, individual team member roles, teamwork dynamics, conflict handling, and risk mitigation. It also includes criticism of the project, recommendations for future projects, and findings related to passenger and aircraft movement in Australia from 1985-2017, including top airports and international airline revenue passenger movements. The analysis leads to conclusions, identifies limitations, and provides recommendations for stakeholders in the air transport industry. Desklib offers similar resources for students.

ANALYSIS OF AIR TRAFFIC PASSENGER MOVEMENT DATA TO DISCOVER PATTERNS FOR FORECASTING 2
INTRODUCTION
This was an extremely educative project since it exposed us to a real world scenario. The project
educated us on how to handle projects, do analysis, document results and come up with
convincing recommendations. It was a great experience since it enabled me to learn many new
things in and outside my field of study and to co-ordinate a project team effectively.
The project aimed at helping air transport stakeholders in decision making by bringing out the
trends and patterns in air transport. This was achieved by the detailed analysis, result
documentation and discussions which were done by our members.
STRATEGIES USED
The methodology used in this project was effective in helping in the project objective
achievement. The data was collected using oral interviews and secondary data. Analysis was
done using the excel solver and the tableau tool. The oral interviews helped in finding out the
first hand feeling of passengers and other stakeholders in the field which contributed to the
making of recommendations.
INDIVIDUAL TEAM MEMBERS ROLES
I played the role of the group leader with the obligation of coordinating all group activities and
ensuring that the group objectives are met. My role in the group work was to do data analysis
and present the results. I worked in coordination with the other team members especially Qureshi
who was in charge of data collection to ensure that we present the results accurately.
TEAM WORK
The project work was divided into four comprising the data collection, literature review, data
analysis and the developing of the introduction, conclusion and the PowerPoint slides. These
tasks were divided amongst the four group members with mutually agreed instructions on how to
do them with a clear deadline, this led to the success of our team.
CONFLICTS HANDLING
Since the tasks in our team were divided into four there was the dilemma of deciding who should
be assigned to which task. As the team leader I helped the group in resolving this by a mutual
agreement and highlighting the fact that we were all working for the betterment of our project
thus a contribution from any angle would be quite instrumental.

CRITICISM
I feel that the literature review should have covered more projects since there is a multitude of
papers on our subject and related subjects but this was not achieved since the project had a word
limit and it’s quite impossible to cover everything.
In order to achieve more detailed graphs I believe that we should have used the SPSS tool for
data analysis, this would have made our data analysis more understandable to the stakeholders.
RISK MITIGATION
I faced the challenge of handling quite a large quantity of data and ensuring the accuracy of the
analysis I was conducting. The data was scattered thus I had to group it before analysis. There
was also the challenge of trying to convince the other group members on the use of tableau and
excel solver in the analysis of our data. As the team leader I also faced the challenge of merging
the different individual interests of the group member into focusing on the group objectives.
RECOMMENDATIONS
Funding of academic projects should be done by learning institutions to ensure that the students
are not constrained by lack of funds. In our project the member who conducted oral data
collection had to use their own funds to travel, book and meet the passengers and various
stakeholders which proved to be a strain since he is a student with limited resources.
