This report provides a comparative analysis of low cost, charter, and scheduled airlines, with a specific focus on the services and facilities offered on board. The report highlights the differences in private catering, cabin options, and entertainment systems available to passengers. It examines the features of scheduled and charter airlines, such as private cabins, enhanced on-board atmosphere, in-flight entertainment, and family security systems. 3.1 The on-board facilities and services available with low cost, scheduled and charter airlines
Low cost airlines or carriers are those airlines that
provide cheap flight tickets. They are also known as
budget airlines (Cunliffe, DeBell and Duffy, 2017). In
UK, Monarch Airlines provides both low cost and
schedule charter airline services. Low cost airlines
provide limited on-board facilities for entertainment
and services due to low cost.
 Low cost airline of Monarch charges for
pillows, blanket, food or any other extra
facility provided by them.
 As compared with charter airlines, they have
only single passenger class in aircraft.
 They have limited equipment so that aircraft
weight can be maintained and cost of
acquisition and maintenance can be reduced.
 Early reservations in low cost airlines rewards
passengers with the lowest fares. The fare in
low cost carriers is indirectly proportionate
with number of vacant seats. These airlines have some entertainment
equipment such as music player that can
entertain the passengers while they are on
flight (Billings, 2018).
As compared to low cost airlines, charter and
scheduled airlines are more costly and fully
equipped. The on board facilities and services are
provided below:
Private catering: Charter and scheduled airlines
provides private catering to the passengers on
their wish.
Private Cabins: Executive cabins are available
according to passengers comfort with high tech on
board facilities. These cabins enhance the
experience of passenger and provide them
adequate level of comfort.
On-board Atmosphere: There is special cabin in
charter plane in which passengers can relax,
listen to his or favourite music and do many
activities that enhances the experience (Spinardi,
2016).
In-flight entertainment: Scheduled and charter
planes have in-flight entertainment systems that
assist the passengers to have entertainment while
they are on flight.
Family security: Scheduled and charter planes are
loaded with high tech security systems that help
in safeguarding the family members and other
passengers effectively and efficiently.
