Dear Senator Jones,
As a lobbyist and activist working for the environmental challenges and the growing concerns
for climate change, I am reaching out to you to highlight some of the impending issues that needs
to be addressed and dealt with urgency.
Alabama is one of the states in America, which, despite the growing concerns for
environmental degradation and accessibility to advanced technology, still suffers from an acute
water crisis as well as staggering growth of water pollution. It is emphasized many a researchers,
as well as workers and activists in environmental issues that the coal mines poses across the state
poses as the single biggest threat to the water and soil health in the state. Moreover, it is observed

that Alabama is the only state among its neighbouring regions where there is an acute absence of
a comprehensive, effective water management plan. Although there was much debates and
ongoing efforts to develop such a plan, no physical or pragmatic progress is made yet, which
could secure the future of the region in terms of water resource, soil health, protection from
water-borne diseases, wastewater management and prevention of water pollution.
In the face of the growing concern, I urge you to kindly look into the crisis and help
develop an effective policy, along with its enactment in the state of Alabama, which will further
strengthen the community in achieving a just, equitable future and be prepare for the impending
challenges of climate change. I am particularly expecting your attention and cooperation in this
matter, since you are one of the few Democrats who voted for the Green New Deal, while all the
others merely cast a present vote to avoid having a formal stand. Given your proactive stance on
environmental issues, we are reaching out to you for your kind cooperation and guidance to
achieve our goal and hope for your assistance. Enclosed herewith is a research pamphlet on the
water crisis in the region that would help you understand and evaluate the situation better.
