INTRODUCTION
Every enterprise carry out various business activities in order to earn huge amount of
profits. For this, it is very important for enterprises to ensure that they will fulfil their roles and
responsibilities in an effective way relate with health and safety. Various factors are there that
help managers in minimise the risk and support him to formulate effective strategies for
business. Basically effectiveness of health and social care homes are evaluated on the quality of
services and products they offer to its customers (Akpınar, Küçükgüçlü and Yener, 2011). As per
the given scenario, Aldgate East Care Home is taken under this report for study. Various
policies, process and systems follow in health and social home to communicate with its
employees and customers is detailed under this. Further, effectiveness of various policies which
create and encourage positive work environment at workplace is all mentioned in this. Along
with this, roles and responsibilities of both individuals and organisation during process of
treatment is all mentioned in this.

1.1 Systems, policies and procedures for communicate information in workplace of health and
social care
Various number of procedures and policies are there for communicating information in
health and social care workplace. From all those one act called data protection act is very
relevant. As per the data protection act 1998 it is responsibility of services user to that personal
information about the individual with whom he work should remain secure and confidential.
Information of an individual can be disclosed to another person if the concerned individual give
his consent (Borgelt, Buchman and Illes, 2012). Various enterprises use different procedures for
check an individual's right to know. Basically they ask for basic documents such as ID proof
which demonstrates their right to know. If that individual does not have any proof than they ask
the questions which a service user believes. Different legislations are there which support health
and safety in a workplace related with health and safety. Main legislation which must be consider
by Aldgate East Care Home are stated below:
 Health and safety at workplace act 1974: Number of issues which rise or take place at
workplace are covered in this. As per this workers of heath and social care are obligated
to take care of other individuals and cooperate with managers. With the help of this,

managers of Aldgate East Care Home can better distribute the roles and responsibilities
to all employees and this way can offer effective services to all its customers.
 Management of health and safety at work regulations 1992: As per this act, employers of
firm are liable to carry out assessment of risk and then record the relevant findings (Cho
and Shin, 2015). Employer is one who remain responsible to make all arrangements for
ensure effective implementation of various measures of health and safety, to develop and
set a procedure to be follow by employers in emergency conditions, offer proper training
to employees and many more.
 Health and safety regulations 1981: According to this act, it is responsibility of employers
to ensure proper first aid resources and employees at workplace at any time. All
employees must be aware about all arrangements related with first aid.
1.2 Responsibilities in health and social care for management of services
Provision of health and safety in health and social care workplace is planned by
government. UK government has a health care and public health system. Under this,
responsibilities are distributed to health department from local authorities. This includes
services providers, service takers, monitoring system, clinical groups and local health. Basically
this is integrated system under which all organisational bodies are liable related with the health
and safety in health and social care workplace. Management of services related with health and
care in health and social care workplace is one of the important element. Management of health
and safety includes the following:
 Systematic use of methods: It is very essential to use various techniques in a systematic
manner for identify and remove hazards exist in health and social care workplace.
 Controlling the risk: Management and control of risk is another important element
(Fanneran, Kingston and Bradley, 2013). For this manager of Aldgate East Care Home
can use different techniques in order to direct the behaviour of individual with the aim of
control the risk.
 Implement various practices: With this context, managers of firm are responsible to
execute different practices related with health and safety at workplace. It is responsibility
of manager to make all arrangements which encourage effective implementation of

different priorities related with health and safety. It is very essential for Aldgate East Care Home
to set priorities so they can offer better and effective services to its customers. In related with the
context of heath and safety in a health care workplace, the main steps which must be taken by
enterprise include the following:
It is very essential for social care homes to maintain proper electronic equipments and all those
must be properly used by employees to offer effective medical treatment to to service users.
This must be set on high priority(Honeyford and et. al., 2013). Patients which have problems
such as neurological should given treatment form electronic machines which use radioactive

maintained by health care homes. Safety measures must be periodically checked by managers to
maintain quality of its services.
Offer proper training to employees which offer services to patients is another element
which must be set on priority by Aldgate East Care Home. With help of various brining
programs employees learn new and effective ways to offer services to customers. Workers
should interact with services users in a friendly way and should offer them effect rive medical
services. It is important to have information about various procedures related with health and
safety. It is responsibility of manager to offer proper training to employees so they can offer
effective services to patients. Employees working in health and social care homes can given
training related with first aid, use of electric equipments and many more.

2.1 Data form risk assessments informs individuals and organisational in decision making
Process of risk assessment provide positive results by make the individuals inform about
the care of patients and individuals. One of the main feature of risk assessment is that it make the
decision make familiar about all possible risks exist relate with the sheath and social care
settings. All this largely affect the decision making process (Laugaland, Aase and Barach,
2012). If process of risk assessment is not effective that social care homes can not implement the
policies in an effective way. One of the main and big advantage related with the process of risk
assessment is that it make the enterprise familiar with all issues which they are facing currently.
Along with this, it help in identify the weak aspect relate with organisation process. This concept
provide an opportunity to management to compare actual standards with current standards and
indicate the improvements which could be implemented by firm. Effectiveness of planning
process can be enhanced with the help of proper monitoring. Major contribution of risk
assessment process is that potential risks could be assessed by managers of Aldgate East Care
Home and with the help of this company can maintain security in its business operations.
Managers can develop guidelines and with help of those company can install large equipments in
a right manner. International standars of risk assessment can also followed by management of
Aldgate East Care Home. In order to ensure safety of patients managers can introduce changes in
current organisational policies. It is very essential that process of risk assessment should be done
in a honest and effective way to ensure safety of people (Mårtensson and Hensing, 2012). This is

2.2 Impact of health and safety aspect on various health care services
Different elements are there which can be used by service providers to make and offer a
effective combination of heath services to its clients (Norizan and Shamsuddin, 2010). Only one
factor could not help with the context of health and safety of employees. Various elements such
as cleanliness, layout and effective handling of various equipments are major factors that can
facilitate and offer effective security to not only customers but employees also. One of the main
aspect relate with safety and health is hygienic and clean environment at workplace. This
encourage safety of patients at large scale. If enterprise does not maintain proper cleanliness then
this increase the chances of spread bacteria and virus which could harm the health of patients.
Care team of Aldgate East Care Home found that from last few months the firm is
neglecting the cleanliness and this give rise to negative consequences for health of people. This
is one of the important aspect which must be given consideration during formulation of
organisation policies. Hygiene and cleanliness directly contribute in health of individual. With
the context of risk analysis it is found that avoiding the clean environment in operation theatre
cause harmful effects to patient and doctors as well. Due to this nursing staff also face negative
implications. Safety of patients, doctors and staff is one of the main reason why hygiene and
cleanliness got priority in policy of health and safety. In order to maintain the health and safety
of it has been taken care by managers that every operation must be execute in hygiene
environment. It is very essential that there must be proper hand wash and laundry services so that
bacteria could be killed. This is one of the effective way to prevent spread of viruses and germs.
All these set of instructions must be followed Aldgate East Care Home in order to offer effective
services to its patients.
2.3 Various dilemmas in policies and systems for health may be addressed
Different problems are there related with the implementation of various process and
policies relate with the health and safety measures in an enterprise (Norizan and Shamsuddin,
2010). One of the main dilemma which could be take place is relate with communicate all
procedure and plans at different level of enterprise. Most of the employees working in enterprise
remain informed about various policies of firm but information of these is not necessary follow

the same is also important. Sometimes situation of dilemmas arise when when employees behave
in very careless manner which create troubles relate with the safety of patients. The other
situation of dilemma arise during implementation of various policies related with health is lack
of training to staff members relate with operate on machineries and other resources. It is very
essential for enterprise to provide adequate amount of training to employees to ensure safety of
patients (Oliveira and Andrade, 2010). Other dilemma which could arise is relate with spread of
germs and bacteria. All these are the main dilemmas which could be faced by Aldgate East Care
Home and to address these issues there is a requirement of firm to align business activities with
various legal aspects. This can offer high security and it is very essential for all staff members to
behave in an effective manner. Basically legal aspect play a huge role in to avoid dilemmas.
Along with this, training also play a huge role in this. It is very essential that proper training
sessions must be conduct by managers of Aldgate East Care Home. Different seminars and
conferences helps in decrease the situation of dilemmas. Training could be beneficial in provide
knowledge to staff memberless related with handling of various equipments.

problems and issues at workplace. One of the biggest negative consequences could be that
responsibilities of employees could be explained in a appropriate way. This is big issues relate

which help in offer effective services to patients. Unnecessary delay could be faced by the
managers in decision making process and all this increase cost of business operations. When
integration take place among employees than it increase chances of chaos. Due to this, team
work could be hampered and all this decrease harmony and peace among staff members. This
decrease productivity and performance of workers. Sometimes this could develop negative
attitude among employees (Orwelius and et. al., 2011). This is one of the major issues relate
with non compliance. This is the main reason why all legislations must be effective implemented
and followed by all staff members in an effective way. With the help of different legislations
future problems could be faced in an adequate manner to achieve end goals and objectives. If
enterprise does not follow the legislations in an effective manner than it hamper the positive
image of firm and provide other number of disadvantages.

For achieve better results and maximum outcomes it is very essential that all policies of
health and safety need be implemented and monitored on continuous basis. Evaluation of various
services must be done on following criteria: Care planning: This factor ensure, put an effective strategy at workplace and its
implementation. Under this, managers plans all activities in order to offer effective
services to patients. Dilemmas: Effectiveness of different practices largely depend on the communication
channel use by company (Pino and et. al., 2014). During communication and
implementation an enterprise face number of dilemmas and issues. This include factor
such as analysis of risk benefit and risk. Own practice: This refers to individuals own responsibilities and needs and also the
variation which take place in relations between employees and clients.
 Monitor and review of different practices: This include review practices, auditing of
threats and risks and learning from experience.
For increase effectiveness it is very essential for managers of Aldgate East Care Home to
consider past experience in order to develop effective strategies. In case of emergencies core
committee do various efforts to ensure that a task force is put in place so benefits can be
maximise and inconveniences of patients and staff members can be minimised. Cases which
involve safety hazards, in that case core committee do various efforts to ensure safety
precautions are in right place in environment.
3.2 Effectiveness of health and safety policies in workplace in promote a positive and safe
culture
At workplace of health and social care homes it is very essential that all policies,
procedures and systems need be implemented effectively (Plescia and Emmanuel, 2014). It is
very essential that all policies must be comply with process and structure adopt by healthcare
enterprise. The main criteria which can be used by managers of Aldgate East Care Home to
achieve compliance include the following: Care planning: This is one of the most important criteria which contribute in maximise
well-being of all employees and also contribute in meeting their special requirements.

Basically this is done by organisation to enhance safety and security of all employees
and workers during implementation of various policies.
 Management of health and safety: Every enterprise is liable to monitor and evaluate
various policies related with health and safety during its implementation. This can be
done with the help of auditing and inspection at workplace.
3.3 Own contributions to place health and safety needs of individuals
All employees and individuals in helath and social care system perform their roles and
responsibilities that increase safety and security of service users and providers also (Remmers,
2010). As a part of Aldgate East Care Home my contribution in health and safety practices are
manifold. When my contribution is evaluated than I have provided my support in maximise
safety and health of individuals who are receiving care by care homes. Individuals who take
residence care have different abilities and they can perform their duties in a safe way. Some
service users face troubles while operating with machines and electric equipments such as water
heater, electric wheel chair sand many more. I guided various service users through different
techniques and taught them the right method to perform various business activities which ensure
safety and health of patients (Tomescu, 2014). Further, I guide manager to conduct training and
development programs for employees which help enterprise to better satisfy the needs of its
customers.
CONCLUSION
From the above information it can be concluded that concept of health and safety play a
big role in enterprise who offer and social care services to its customers. Various legislations are
there which must be consider by health firms in order to increase effectiveness of treatment offer
to individual. For increase satisfaction of patients it is very essential for managers to first set
priority. For increase effectiveness of decision making process it is very essential for managers
to collect information form various sources. Manager can use various techniques to solve the
dilemmas arise at workplace. It is responsibility of manager to monitor different practices on
timely manner to offer effective services to all patients. It is very essential that an effective
policy must be used by managers as it help in create and promote a positive work environment
and ethical culture. Overall all aspects related with health of an individual must be consider by
managers before taking any decision in enterprise.
