Communication is referred to the exchange of information by the means of written,
verbal, or by using some other mediums. In other words, it is the act of conveying message to
receiver by the sender. It is necessary for every organisation to have strong communication
between departments as smooth interaction can facilitate company to yield maximum profits and
better outputs (Wilden, 2013). Aldi is one of the famous and well reputed discounted
supermarket chains which has been operating in more than 20 countries with thousand of stores.
It is headquartered in Essen and Mulheim, Germany and was founded in 1913. This assignment
will enlighten the communication with organisation's stakeholders and its policies and
procedures and its effectiveness. Other than this, it will also include barriers of communication
within workplace and the influence of values and cultural factors on communication. Different
theories related to it which are applied within workforce. In addition to that, it will cover the
personal development plan in order to improve communication skills.

4.1 Communication audit
Aldi is a well known grocery store in UK in which quality products and services are
provided to customers on effective cost. In this, a large number of employees provide their
quality services in order to render higher satisfaction to consumers. In this process
communication play a most important role which is uses to convey message and information
from one person to another (Nikoukar and et al, 2012). Main objective of positive
communication is to build long term relation with stakeholders that assist to getting higher
profits easily. Major stakeholders of Aldi are their customers, employees, shareholder and
suppliers etc.. Aldi is using appropriate communication technologies as Management of Aldi
communicates with their stakeholders in written and oral form which is a most effective tool of
conversation.

As an employee in Aldi, I have good formal and informal communication skills. As Aldi
is one of the reputed company and it requires candidates which should be efficient in
communicating in both formal and informal manner. As I can effectively interact with my
colleges and my seniors in the way in which it is necessary to communicate in order to maintain
the decorum of organisation. I am polite and calm while addressing something to my seniors and
gives respect while interacting with them. I am well aware about the fact that I am really
effective while speaking and conveying crucial information to my friends and have never
disrespected any person working in the organisation.
I used to think that I am a capable person and have decent communication skills. I got
feedback from management that sometimes I get nervous while giving presentations in front of
others and lose track due to nervousness. They perceives that, I have long way to go in order to
make my communication skills more effective and proficient. Other weakness they pointed out
was the high pitch while speaking to my colleges. Some of my supervisors noticed me with high
tone while interacting with some of the employees which reflects that I am arguing or showing
my anger to other person, but the fact is different. Due to my high pitch, it become problematic
sometimes for me and they told me to improve this as this pose a bad impression on others as
well as on seniors. They also told me that, I am not good with my choices of words as I used
repetitive words while giving presentations at business meetings and my vocabulary is not strong
enough.

applied into my own evaluation:

are interacting with each other are constructing their own perception and interpretation behind
their conversation (Galegher, Krautand Egido, 2014). The vital assumption within this theory
includes the belief that individual expect to be followed during the conversation with others. A
person apply some set of rules while engaging in the communication and following are different
types of rules:
ï‚· Constitutive rules: These are essential rules which is used by communicators in order to
interpret or understand any message or event.
ï‚· Regulative rules: These rules of action are used to determine how to respond or behave
in situation.
I can implement this theory while communicating with others as every people perceives
and interpret differently to same information, so it is necessary for me to ensure that the receiver
interpret the actual meaning of information that I want to convey to that person. In order to
interpret, receiver can apply interpretation rules so that the message could be understood.
