PART A DISCUSSION ACTIVITY
INITIAL DISCUSSION
At present conditions in business and the need to introduce best and innovative, most of the
projects have to go through with various changes that are different from the original plans.
Change is inevitable but coping up the major challenges requires amendment of modifications
(Heldman, 2013). In the same matter, a poorly managed project and its plan will lead to a
scenario of huge failure to the industry, individual or a team etc. This is another reason which
forces the project managers to announce new changes in most of the running projects. These
changes affect the project schedule and communication of the managers and the stakeholders
accordingly. The fact that, more effective the team and communication more simple and
effective is the work completed in less time (Kheder, 2014).
Goals and objectives – these are the motives or aims that has to be achieved through the
different process in a team with the effective teamwork.
Scope – this defines the area covered under the project for future and how reliable it is for
people.
Work Break Down Structure – this includes the proper description of the processes or tasks
involved in a project in the most suitable and simpler form.
Project Scheduling – it is the way to describe the procedure and priorities in the given project
with the timeline.
Whenever a change has been introduced in the project, a firm change control process might
help the managers and the team members to cope with the changes and again back on the
track.
RESPOND FROM STUDENTS
For understanding this, some examples of the fellow students have been described with their
opinions on the impact of intermediate changes in a project and its effects.

According to the Godfrey Howard regarding the schedule management, any change in the
project lead to supplementary changes in the whole project, its scope, scheduling, completion
time and effectiveness of the team etc. He said that the request to change the scope may be
based on insight gained from project or a new knowledge which changes the overall delivery
and verification time (PMBOK, 2013). At the same time, he also described that the deviations
from the base plan will establish new threats in future. For this, there is a need to complete the
scope statement with managerial pieces of work which should be completed after developing
the list of complete tasks to be done. This list will help in analysing the resource requirement
which will be effective if the communication between the team and the manager is clear
(Pearson, et al. 2014).
Another student; Leire Caballero Fraile, said that if the project manager is able to create an
effective communication than there are fewer chances of problems after the changes have
been made (Kerzner & Kerzner, 2017). In addition to this, the student believes that even
communication is the key to overcome with the changes, it is not essential for the project
manager to communicate this change with all the stakeholders of the company rather changes
should be only passed with the concerned people so that they can know the benefits (Douglas,
2009).

PART B SCOPE AND TIME MANAGEMENT
PROJECT GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
Goal
To develop St. Dismas Assisted Living Facility (ALF project) so that the inpatient and
outpatient can get a rehabilitation facility
Objectives
To focuses on inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation of the severely injured and
catastrophically ill people
To get a handle on the future of the organization which would be concerned about
caring of their parents
To identify future opportunities with two strategic initiatives; first short run initiative for
cost effective delivery of inpatients and second, long run initiative to create new
programs and services which can help in capturing the highly competent rehabilitation
therapy
To provide a location where people could age until they need hospitalization facilities
The objectives described in the ALF Project are very beneficial for the people who are
concerned about the medical care of their old family members and hence it will transform the
people’s perception with the best facilities and high-tech equipment’s which are feasible for all.
PROJECT SCOPE STATEMENT
The project to develop a rehabilitation facility for the catastrophically ill patients aims to
develop more pleasant life for the patients as well as for their family members. The board
members of the project assured that the after the complete development of the project, it will
meet the strategic initiative of the growing business as well as it is projected that there will be
increase in the referrals of outpatient’s therapy programs. The scope of the ALF project is very
firm as it will reduce the problems for the future generations regarding the care of older people
in their family. The facilities that are provided in the centre consists of high tech equipment’s,

best nursing facility all at very low costs. in addition to this, the whole idea to serve will going to
change the perception of people regarding the health and social care facilities at the door steps.
WORK BREAKDOWN STRUCTURE (WBS)
The overall ALF project has been divided in accordance with the steering committee. The tasks
were bifurcated in between the officials of the project whom further have separated tasks. The
WBS for ALF project has been shown here:
PROJECT SCHEDULE
The overall schedule of the project is shown with the help of Critical Path Network Diagram and
Gantt Chart with respect to their required time limits (in months) according to the steering
committee members of the project.
