Introduction
The biggest company in online commerce of China is Alibaba. It operates as the
holding entity. The company is engaged in providing electronic commerce, internet content
services, online financial and internet infrastructure through its subsidiaries. Alibaba helps in
offering its services and products all over the worldwide (Alibaba. 2020). Hence, this
research paper includes the discussion on success of China’s Alibaba, China’s government
role, journey of becoming giant of e-commerce, impacts on the global economy and Jack
Ma’s role.
Literature Review
Success of China’s Alibaba
The success of Alibaba is no secret. The company has evolved from humble
beginnings in the apartment of Jack Ma’s Hangzhou and it has grown into empire of e-
commerce that is known internationally. However, there are some of the factors that was
responsible for the success of company, which includes unique model of business,
unconventional model of profit, reliable credit model (Yazdanifard and Li 2014).
Role Played by Government of China
Alibaba is the leading proxy for the economic growth of China. When it becomes
evident that there would be end of US trade war, the company’s stock began to rise
eventually. The rise of Alibaba has been propelled by the policies of government, which has
made China as quite unwelcoming place for the entities of US and provided the local
champions like Alibaba with space they required for becoming globally viable players
(Alibaba. 2020).
Journey of Becoming E-Commerce Giant
Alibaba has ridden seemingly appetite of China for the online shopping to become
most valuable companies of world. From its commencement as the business in year 1999,
Alibaba has experienced great growth on the platform of e-commerce. It dominates the
market. From e-commerce and systems of payments to the services of cloud and artificial
intelligence, few sectors are left in which Alibaba has not established stronger presence
(Romagnoli and Garbelli 2017).

Impact on Global Economy
The world’s largest operator of e-commerce platform, Alibaba Group Holding aims
for becoming fifth-largest world’s economy by end of 2036. In the time of 19 years, this
technology giant have created around 100 million jobs and supported approx. 10 million
profitable business on company’s platform as it strives for becoming global business in true
sense by serving two billion consumers all over world (Ee and Yazdanifard 2015).
Role Played by Jack Ma
The foundation of Alibaba was in year 1999 by the Chinese entrepreneur Jack Ma as
well as his seventeen business partners. This project was started in the apartment of Jack Ma
in the Chinese city, Hangzhou. He was the charismatic leader and was having distinctive
vision, unlike other entities. Jack Ma has aspired company for placing itself where the
customers meets the work and live on the platform in which the users can connect by social
networks, buy and sell products as well as use services on the daily basis. Hence, this effort
has helped the company for achieving new height and becoming billionaire in snap
(Romagnoli and Garbelli 2017).
Research Methodology
The sources of data used in this paper is secondary sources of data. Further, the
research method selected for this research paper includes qualitative and descriptive research.
Moreover, this research paper has used various journal articles, books and other relevant
sources.
Conclusion
Therefore, the conclusion can be reached that Alibaba has emerged as operator of e-
commerce giant, which has blossomed into the most valuable and diverse corporation in
world. The company has continued invested heavily in the artificial intelligence, online
entertainment and cloud computing. It has not only contributed towards growth of China’s
economy but it has also impacted global economy. Lastly, it can be said that Jack Ma’s
determined approach as an entrepreneur and being exceptionally optimistic attitude has
changed face of business and Internet in China as well as across globe.
