INTRODUCTION
Managers of the company carry out the function like staffing, planning, leading and
controlling. They also run practices which are important to motivate employees who are working
in company so company can perform better in the market where they are operating their
business.
This report will cover case study of Allstyle department store who are having 10
different department selling the varieties of products from the Clothing , carpet, electrical goods
and furniture etc. Rebecca who is recently appointed as new general manger of Allstyle
department store and one of the local TV company approach them to make a short film about
the different peoples working lives (Aboramadan., 2018).
As per the given case this report will analyze what management functions and the role
did Rebecca perform in the whole film and what is it important for the Allstyle department
store and their business. In another question this report will discus about management their
which can be applicable to this case study, and they could make the Film more better and they
can also promote their product and their services in the market directly to the customers, and
they can bale to gain competitive advantage sin the market where they are operating their
business.

Rebecca has per a most important function and roles in this case study. Which can be
beneficial for the Allstyle department store in future growth and helps them to attract
customers toward their stores. The TV Channel has shoot 6 different clips for program where
they are showing Different people working lives but It is an opportunity for the Allstyle
department store and Rebecca because it is an free advertisement for their company, and they
can promote their brand on the TV channel for the long times. Many people used to watch TV
nowadays and the benefits will get to the Allstyle department store because The TV channel
is local which means they will show this program in the local area so it will be helpful for the
Allstyle department store to gain competitive advantages in the market, and they can able to
show their presence in the market where they are operating their business (Engel, van Burg,
Kleijn and Khapova., 2017).

Rebecca who is general manager of the company play Vidal role and function. In the
first clip Rebecca was conducting a meeting with the manager of each deportment about their
pricing strategy and their promotion strategy for the next end of season sale. Which is an
good move from the General manager because it will give clear image ti the customers about
the upcoming offers and what can be the expected prices for them. This will attract the
customers to buy the product in a end of season sale. Each manager f the department show the
price after the reduction which will helps to promote their product and company can make
profits. Another theme was an Planing meeting with the senior executive from the head office
and they discuss about the sales target within the 12 moth. Here Rebecca play the most
important roles and explain how they can chive target in 12 moths and also explaining the
barrier which can affect their target sales is one of their competitor who are selling similar
product which can create threat for the Allstyle department store (Shults And et.al., 2018).
In a third clip Rebecca present three shop workers who reach for the stars badges for
their outstanding performance last month and Rebecca had her picture with the three of them
and also published in the newspaper. It is not an promotional activity but Rebecca understand
that it will help to motivate the other employees who are working in Allstyle department store.
Appreciation from the companies superiors and their newspaper publication is an motivation for
the other, and they will also give their effort to reach the target so next times they can also
get appreciation like those three employees. This will mainly beneficial for the Allstyle
department store because they will able to achieve their 12 moth target and take competitive
advantages in the market where they are operating their business. This is an good strategy by
the Rebecca because it will help them to reach their 12 moth target, and they perform her roles
very well as general manger of the Allstyle department store.
Another clip was an review of the companies poor performance in the electronic
product with the mangers. In the meeting it is an responsibility of the General manager t discus
about the good and poor perforce both. Rebecca discuss the poor performance of the
Electronic products with the manager of the department (Ferreira, Mueller and Papa., 2018).
Manager of the electronic department provide the reason why this division could not perform
better . Department manager tell that it was because of the poor staff absence figure has
contribution to this problem. A Rebecca is an general managers and her roles is to [provide

should attend the additional training sessions on the staff motivation and monitoring the staff
performance. It is an good suggestion because may be the staff in the electronic department
are demotivated, so they can motivate them by providing them additional training about their
work and how to communicate with the customers when they enter this department. Manager
will also control the performance of the employees and if they are not performing well in their
job then they will get the training so develop skills which are needed to produce better result.
General manger of the company is top superior of the company who have roles to plain,
control and organize the activities for the company for their better performance. As it is
Rebecca also has show these abilities in the 5th clip where they are discussing the new store
extension . It is necessary to the company for the show their future plain which will help them
to gain competitive advantages, and they will able to expand their business, and they will able
to show their presence in the market as an emerging brand. Rebecca also meet with the new
store planner, builder and architecture to discuss progress on the new store extension, so they
can give some idea about how their new store will be and what the Allstyle department store
is planning to gain more share in the market (Routledge and Vess., 2018). The general manger
also concern that they were not working closely enough and the project could fall behind the
schedule. She is an general manager of the Allstyle department store and her function is to
provide accurate information about there planning, and she performs her roles very well and
explaining everything properly in this theme (Ganiyu., 2018).
Managers role in the business is to manage activities at the workplace of the company
and they also control the working environment. Rebecca has show this skills in the last clip
where she was settling the disputes between the departmental managers over which
department should be able to stock new electronic exercise bicycle spot and electronic goods.
Disputes between the departments can create bi from for the Allstyle department store
because it can affect the performance of the company and working environment of the Allstyle
department store will also get affected from this so it was important for the Rebecca to solve the
Dispute. Rebecca settle this dispute and it was agreed that it could not appear in both because
of the lack of space, so sports would stock it for six months next to the gym equipment. Sales
would be monitored closely and if it did not do well then relocation might be possible.
This was a good suggestion by the general managers which show, how she is
performing their role and function for the Allstyle department store. It will helps the Allstyle

successful because of their leaders who can lead the employees and control their activities in
an organization and Rebecca has performed her roles properly. It was just an 6 minute program
which was very less time for anyone to show their skills but Rebecca perform good in her role
and function and show that why she is perfect for the general manager's role (Kitana., 2016).
This program also shows that the Rebecca have all the skills and talent which is needed in the
general manager of the company, and she is also having the planning for the future which is
necessary for the companies to gain competitive advantages in the future, and they can able to
take competitive advantages so Allstyle department store can gain upcoming opportunists in
their business, and they can able to capture more shares in the market where they are operating
their business. Its not that easy to show all the skills and talent for the general manager to show
in just 6 minutes, but she proves that she know what are the roles and function for the
managers in the company and This is performing her duty very well and helping the Allstyle
department store to grow and run their business properly.
2. Theories which can be applicable for this case study
As per the theory of management are the collection of the ideas which helps to
recommend the general rules for how managers of the company can mange and organize the
business, so they can get the success in the market, and they can achieve their business goals
and their objectives. Management theories helps to address how superiors of the company
implement the strategies to achieve their organizational goals ad how they can motivate their
workers to give their best in the task so company can take competitive advantages, and they
can expand their business more (Khorasani and Almasifard., 2017).
There are Two most effective theory which can be applicable in the case study of
Allstyle department store. System management theory and Contingency theory both are popular
among the management field and helps the managers to lead and control the employees
effectively. For a long time, theoretician have been hunting the most appropriate forms of
management for various work settings. This is where management explanation come into play.
Although some of these explanation were developed years ago, they still supply stable theory for
running businesses for the organization to handle the situation at their workplace, and they can
enable themselves to achieve the goals and target of the company.

Independence and synergy. Workers are one of the most essential element of a organization.
Other elements important to the success of a business are section, work groups, and business
units. In activity, managers are needed to measure patterns and case in their companies to find
the best management approach. This way, they are able to collaborate on different programs so
that they can work as a collective whole rather than as isolated units.
This theory can be useful for in this case because it helps to plan everything systematical
for the company and Rebecca can also improve their management style, and she can control
the activities at the workplace in more batter manner and helps the Allstyle department store to
grow and run their business properly and get success in the market where they are operating their
business. In the whole case this theory can be applicable because. Manager o the company can
show how they are giving importance to their employees to get the success for the company and
Rebecca can also explain that how they are motivating their employees and how it is helping
the Allstyle department store to grow and take competitive advantages. She can also add the
clip about how the group activities are helpful for the employees and it helps to increase the
flow of effective communication in workplace and it is necessary for the company to have
flow of effective communication at their workplace to gain competitive advantages in their

performance of the employees so this could be more better for the Film to explain the
importance of the collaboration. It look more better and professional for the managers to talk

employees to achieve the companies goals and their objectives to make company successful in

environment of the company effective and better for the employees, so they can perform their
task effectively and produce some result. This means that the companies leaders should be
flexible enough to adopt the changing environment.

about the settlement between the two departmental management over, where Rebecca give

the managers of the company to get involve in the situation and understand the problem
properly so Rebecca can bale to discus about the problem properly with both the managers, and
they can also make proper strategies together (Wren and Bedeian., 2020). They are managers
of the department, and they are responsible to run their department properly which need to be
explained by the Rebecca, so she can show herself as the effective leader of the company and
it will also look good hat managers get involved in the situation to overcome from the problems
and make them understand the negative impact of the conflict on the companies working
environment and how it affect the business of the Allstyle department store, and they can also
miss the set target of the company which was an 12 moth. With the proper suggestion she also
need to get involved in the situation and solve the proper by understanding it properly.
Situational leadership style will also help her to show herself as an professional n the managers
post. Rebecca is an general manager, so she should have the qualities and skills which are
needed in the managers of the company, so she can bale to control the situations at the
workplace, and she can help Allstyle department store to get success in their business, and they
can able to show there presence in the market in term of revenue, expatiation and growth.

selling the varieties of the product. This report has been analyzed case study of the companies
where discuss the qualities of their new manger Rebecca. It has been analyzed the roles and
