Business ethics refers to the implementation of business practices and polices with
regard to arguable controversial subject. Some of the issues which comes up with the
discussion of the ethics which include corporate governance, discrimination at companies
workplace etc are best examples of the Business ethics.
Ethics in the business concern with the individual moral judgment about right and
wrong. Decisions taken within an organization may be made by an individual or the group, but
whoever makes them will be influenced by the culture of the company.
This is an case study of Amazon which is one of the largest online retailer who are
selling varieties of product to their customers but this company is creating issues for themselves.
they are not business ethics as serious concern. CEO of the company who is one of the top
richest man in the world have some social responsibility and Jeff should understand their
responsibilities (Aldarabseh., 2019). They are creating ethical issues like Tax avoidance, Lower
wages to the employees, Dangerous working condition at the workplace. It is necessary for the
company to understand their business ethics and take proper action to overcome from this

A main aim of the company is to discuss business ethics and understand the importance
of the business ethics to become successful.
ANALYSIS
Introduction of the topic and aim of the case study
It is necessary for the every organization to have their business ethics and understanding
of the business ethics are helpful for the companies superiors in decision-making process. The
business ethical practices benefit businesses as a whole to make short term success of the
business failure and more decisions which are likely to support the long term success of the
business.
The main aim of this case study to discuss about ethical problem with Amazon company
and why they should make it their first priority (Chirieleison, and Scrucca., 2017). This case
study will discuss who will be thought that ethics are the main priority of Amazon and how it
can help the company to overcome from the problems otherwise they can face problem in
future and other companies can overtake them.
Whether the CEO of the company should think ethics are the main priority of the company
Amazon CEO has huge responsibility as Superior of the company . It is necessary for the
Jess to make the ethics first priority of the business because their company is doing good in
business because their employees are putting their effort in the business (Gallego‐Alvarez,
Rodríguez‐Domínguez and Martín Vallejo., 2020). If their employees will be not treated
properly then it will affect on their metal and physical health, and they will not able to perform
better in their task. Ethics in the business are essential and this also helps to create reputation of
the companies CEO. They are not paying the taxes to the government, this avoidance is
affecting their business ethics of Amazon, it is affecting their business reputation in the market
where they are operating their business, and they can also face Lawsuits in the future. CEO of
the Amazon company are top superiors, and they have to listen to their employees, and they
should ensure that their employees are getting proper rest, and they should also proud to be
working with top online retailer company but the unethical behavior of the company force their
employees to protect against the compny which affect their image. Employees are working
extra hours and most of them are drivers who deliver the product of the customers. They are not
getting proper rest, and they are working continuously more than 12 hours which creates
problem like their metal health, and they are feeling weaker. This need to be understood by the
Document Page
CEO Jeff that employees are also human, and they are working long hours continuously,
employees should get proper rest, so they can perform their duty properly. Amazon is putting
the life of the employees in danger and this can took their life as well (Milas, and Lulić., 2019).
To over come the problems they can to ensure the shifty and security of the employees and this
is responsibility of the CEO to ensure that their employees are getting proper shifty and
security at the workplace or not.
Whether workers should think ethics are the main priority of the company
Workers are the main stakeholders of the company who run day to day activities of the
Amazon company and helps to achieve their goals and their objectives in business and make
them successful. Amazon is top leading company in online retail market just because of their
employees effort and their handwork in the given task.
Safety and security are the rights of the employees, and they also complained about it. .
Employees should also think about business ethics but when they do not get their rights and
not getting proper treatment then they should make their superiors understand their business
ethics. Amazon employees are facing most of the problem because of the unethical behavior of
the Amazon superiors. (Mundhe and Sanstha’s., 2020). Employees of the Amazon company are
not getting living wages, working condition are bad and company is making them working
more than 12 hours which can not good for their health and it is also affecting their motivation
and moral values. Company employees also have risen their voices and did protect in the
Berlin when their companies CEO come to receive award for the social responsibility and their
innovation in the company. Inside the venue CEO was giving speech about ethical issues and
employees welfare and outside the company employees of the company were protesting
against him. This scene was captured by the news reporters and covered by the new articles. It
becomes headline of the newspaper. This news impact on the companies image and also affect
the performance of the company. Employees can rise their voice if there is something wrong
with them. This is not only the problem of any individual employees but also a problem of the
other employees so every single employees should make pressure on the Amazon company. It
will make them understand that business ethics are their main priority, and they need to
understand this and take it as their first priority. This will provide rights to the employees, and
they will get proper living wages, Fix sift, so they can work properly in their task. Superiors of
Document Page
the company will understand the importance of the business ethics if their every single workers
will rise their vice.
Whether politicians should think ethics are the main priority of the company
Yes, politicians should think that the companies first priority is thir business ethics
because if they are doing a business then they should follow all the rules and regulation made
by the local government (Nawale., 2020). Amazon has their offices in all over the world, and
they are providing their services in most of the countries so this is their job to follow the rules
of that particular country otherwise it can create big issues for the company if they will ignore
the policies made by the government. Amazon is one of largest corporations who practice tax
avoidance in countries where they operate. Tax avoidance is not illegal, but many consider it to
be unethical. In 2016, in the UK, Amazon earned £24 million which then soared to £72 million
in 2017, but only paid £7.4 million in tax in 2016 and then incredibly, despite the enormous
increase in profits, paid £4.6 million in 2017. Amazon has come under attack for tax avoidance
from both sides of the political spectrum with criticism from politicians such as Jeremy Corbyn
and Donald Trump.
Amazon can face problems from the both political because both are top politician,
Jeremy Corbyn is British politician who is also a member of UK parliament and Donald Trump
is president of America. Messing with the both political can create problems, and they can take
strict action against the Amazon. Both are having power to create problems for the Jeff, and they
can also file a case against the Jess (Rakesh, Anusha and Suresh., 2016).
This also a responsibility of the political to take strict action and make them
understatement that if they want to work in their country then they have to pay their taxes and
also should understand the importance of the business ethics so Amazon can run their business
effective in the America and Britain.
Whether customers should think ethics are the main priority of the company
Customers of the company are important for their business because they buy products
and services from them which provide them profitability. Customers should also think that the
business ethics should be first priority of there business so it will create pressure on the Amazon
business because it customer of this company will start thinking that they are not treating their
employees good and avoiding the taxes which is their possession to get the benefits of the taxes.
By avoiding the taxes hey are taking the possession from the people. This will make the

customers choose with the other online retailers who are taking businessmen ethics as the first
priority.
Unethical behavior from the Amazon is also affecting the companies services and their
product. Their employees not providing proper services to their customers because they are not
getting living wages, and they are also working for the long shift which enable them to provide
good services to their customers (Roy., 2017). In result, customers are loosing their trust, and
they are buying their products from other online retailers. Recently the incident which happened
with the CEO of the Amazon company also effect the business and this news also shown on the
news and article. It was show shocking for their customer that CEO of the company is getting
the award for their social responsible and their innovation and their own employees are
protesting outside. This shows the reality to their customers that how they are behaving with
their employees which create negative image of the company and their CEO on their customers
mind, and they started shifting toward the other companies who are providing similar services
Consumers are more and more influenced by ethical purchasing behavior. This trend may well
lead to them boycotting Amazon if the company continues to sell unethical products, which it
has been accused of (Umam., 2016).
One of the major problems which is face by the Amazon customers is their customers
services which is not satisfied because they take times to take return problems and keep
avoiding the customers issues. This can be make them think to understand business ethics if the
customers started boycotting their product which will affect their overall business.

importance of the business ethics. This report has been analyzed the politicians point of view
and customers as well because they can also think that companies first priority should be their
business ethics.
Recommendation
Amazon is having good reputation in the market (Xiang., 2018). This is a responsibly of
them to understand their business ethics to create better environment. Unethical behavior can
have many negative impact on the Amazon business where they can lose employees efficiency
because they are working more than 12 hours, so I world like to recommend that company
should give proper break and rest to their employees, so they can work properly and perform
their task effectively. They also need to fix the working hours for their employees and the
another problems is living wages. Amazon performing good in their business which is because
of their employees who are running the daily activities. Without their employees company
cannot take comparative advantages in the market because employees are the reason behind
the success of organization. They should get the shifty and security at the workplace because
without having shifty and security employees can fear to do task so company should provide
satisfy and security like their life insurance. Most of the employees are only person in their
family who are earning, so they should also think about those employees who are helping them
o achieve their goals and their objectives (Žager, Dečman and Novak., 2019).
Tax avoidance which is also unethical behavior by the Amazon company. In my opinion
company should not avoid taxes if they want to run their business successfully because
politicians like Trump have power to ban their business in US and Amazon is earning
revenue from this country, so they should not ignore and take the politicians lightly.
