Sub: Evaluating the business governance of Amazon
Dear In-charge,
This letter is to write for accepting and evaluating the business framework that Amazon is
following in its international market. Amazon is a renowned technology based American
company which is popular for its wide range of online products and its supply and logistics
networks. In this letter the mission, vision, history and current business trend in the company are
discussed in order to portray a clear image about the motives and actions of the organisation.
The mission of Amazon is “we strive to offer our customers the lowest possible price,
the best available selection and utmost convenience” (Ir.aboutamazon.com, 2019). The mission
statement of the company is very simple and straight forward by putting emphasis on effective
customer service and managing a customer oriented business procedure. In fact, it is obvious for
Amazon to put extra effort on its customers because the company is service oriented and
retaining customers is considered to be one of the major aspect that Amazon follows. For
maximising its customers also the company pledges to offer better pricing and experience to the
customers with various range of products and convenient service.
The vision of Amazon is “to be Earth’s most customer centric company where
customers can find and discover anything they might want to buy online
(Ir.aboutamazon.com, 2019). From this sharp and transparent vision statement of Amazon, it can

be derived that global reach, customer centric approach and wider selection of products are the
main elements that bring an effective measure into the business objectives of Amazon.
According to Tou et al. (2019) the global reach vision of the company is set out through
Amazon’s international leadership and e-commerce market. This global expansion also reveals
the market penetration and marketing strategy of Amazon in terms of generic strategy and
intensive growth strategy.
Amazon was founded in the year of 1994 under the leadership of Jeff Bezos. The
company went public in 1997 and began selling music CDs and videos in 1998
(aboutamazon.com, 2019). By this time Amazon started expanding its business in UK and
Germany by acquiring online sellers of books. Gradually the supply and delivery network of
Amazon became highly extensive that made the company from a simple supplier to one of the
giant suppliers across the world. The year 2002 was a great story for the organisation where
Amazon Corporation started Amazon Web Services. Currently, Amazon purchases the Whole
Food Market, a supermarket chain of USA (Tou et al., 2019).
Since 2010, Amazon Corporation has been trying to transform its business orientation to
a great extent. As a result of that a drone program is initiating as a part of the automation in
Amazon delivery service. As it is the motive of the company to foster better and convenient
services to the customers therefore the new drone programme is definitely rendered a strategic
advantage for the organisation in the global competitive market. The project is in pipeline and
expected to deliver packages up to five pounds in less than 30 minutes (Wilke, 2019). It will
definitely create a strategic advantage for Amazon to ensure high consumer services.
