CHAPETR 1 INTRODUCTION
Background of research
Globalisation is the process in which business operation are performed at beyond
geographical region. This is the concept which helps to provide growth and development of
society as well as business organisation. There is more competition, difference in trends, change
in consumer demand, etc. which has to be considered by managers while expanding business.
Hence these are the aspects which has to be considered by managers in dealing at interntional
level. There are many norms, legal regulations, etc. which has to be considered because of
change it affects working efficiency of organisation. This research is based on Amazon which is
a multinational technology organisation which deals in e- commerce, artificial intelligence, cloud
computing, etc. This organisation has head quarter in Washington, US. This organisation has
some subsidiaries such as Audible, AbeBooks, Zappos, etc. Globalisation means expanding
business operations at international level, so this organisation has its impact on operations, sales,
profits, etc.
While conducting business operations at international level, there is limited scope of
performing activities, while at the same time, if operations are performed at international level,
then there are many factors which has to be considered such as consumer preference,
competitor's policies, tax rate, etc. With considering these activities, it is easy to perform expand
and perform business operations at world wide level. As Amazon operates in e- commerce sector
and provides products such as Clothes, home décor, electronics, etc. so while expanding business
at international level, it is important to analyse what changes are taking place in trends and
products are provided according to culture, trend of consumers (Obstfeld, 2015).
Rationale of research
This topic is selected because this provides information about different aspects which
helps in growth and development of organisation with globalisation of business. This research
helps to analyse impact of globalisation on business operations such as impact on profits, sales,
etc. With conducting this research, there is improvement in presentation skill, data analysis and

Conceptual framework
This research is covers different chapters which provides complete in formation about
research topic. There are different chapters such as introduction, literature review, methodology,
data collection and analysis, conclusion and recommendations. In this research first chapter
covers introduction. This provides information about basic concept of research. Second chapter
consist of literature review. This is the section in which with the help of secondary source data is
collected for objectives. Chapter three consist of Methodology. In this section, different
techniques are understood which helps to conduct research and achieving proper aims and
objectives (Berden, Bergstrand and Van Etten, 2014). Chapter four is data collection and
analysis. In this section data is collected from respondents in the form of questionnaire. Chapter
five is conclusion and recommendations. As per this section, there are some recommendations
and conclusions which helps to resolve issues faced by organisation.

Literature review is collection of secondary data with the help to enhance knowledge
about research objectives which is significant for collecting information from secondary sources.

operates in more than one country. Hence in globalisation, there are mainly three sources such as
trade of products and services, movement of capital, flow of money. In globalisation of Amazon
business, there is requirement of more market analysis which helps to provide knowledge about
market trends and changes taking place in consumer demand. With globalisation of business,
there is benefit to society as well as organisation. Standard of living, economic benefits, etc. are
at the part of society. While for Amazon, there are improvement in sales, revenues, etc. which
helps in expansion of business operations (Orbie, 2016).
Tax revenues to political parties is the major benefit with globalisation of business. It is
important and significant for making changes in business operations because there is difference
in demand of consumers. At international level, there is difference in demand of consumers,

while expansion of business. There is difference in culture of people as per difference in

Hence in this case, it is responsibility of managers of Amazon to provide product and services
accordingly (Cheung and Wu, 2014).
Legal regulatory barriers- There are some legal laws regulations of host and foreign
country to operate in international market. Hence these laws and regulations affects business
operations because legal aspects has to be considered by managers. Legal regulations such as
labour and employment law, duties and treaties, investment procedure, customer and trade
duties, tax laws, etc. In case managers of Amazon does not take care of it, then this gives
negative impact on brad image because of government interference (Potrafke, 2015).
Foreign government consideration- Government parties plays important role in
operating business because there is proper registration, documentation of business with business

long term satisfaction to consumers. Marketing strategies must be according to culture, trends of
society. This helps to provide familiar environment with consumers. While expanding business
at international level, managers of Amazon must analyse legal rules and regulations, cost of
expansion of business, technological changes, etc. which help to get positive outcome with
business expansion. There are many legal aspects which must be proper considered by managers
of Amazon otherwise government interferences affects business operations in negative manner

Research method- Research method is the way through which research is conducted.
There are two methods to perform research i.e. qualitative and quantitative research. In this
research, qualitative method is used. This method is more relevant and significant because this

research i.e. primary and secondary source. Primary source refers to the method in which
researcher collects information from respondents personally in the form of questionnaire,
personal interview, etc. in this research, questionnaire is used. Questionnaire is the set of
questions related to research topic. This helps to get knowledge about views of respondents.
Secondary source of collection data refers to method through which information is collected
from different sources such as online sources, books, journals, etc. This is the method which is
helps to understand overall trend of society. There are possibilities that this data is old so affects
conclusions and recommendations of researcher (Krugman, 2017).
Data analysis- Data analysis is the process in which collected information is collected
from respondents is analysed to give some recommendations and conclusion over it. Thematic

Sampling- Sampling is the process which is used to select respondents for taking their

population, hence some individuals are selected to undertake their response. There are two types
of sampling i.e. random and non – random sampling. In this research, random sampling is used
because this is the way through which impartial data can be collected which provides complete
information about research topic. 60 employees are selected as respondents under this method.
Ethical consideration- Ethical consideration refers to the process which helps to keep
research activities in ethical and authentic manner. There is requirement of data which is
collected from respondents, so this is used for research purpose only. Hence research outcomes

are valid and authentic. So with this point, it is clear research is conducted in authentic and
relevant manner which helps to achieve aims and objectives (McCann, 2016).

4.1 Data collection
Data collection refers to the method through which information is collected. In this
research information is collected with questionnaire from 60 respondents i.e. employees.
Questionnaire refers to the set of questions which is related to research topic and view of
respondents are collected from this (North, 2018).
