Report
AI Summary
This report delves into the information technology challenges confronting Amazon, a leading e-commerce and cloud services provider. It highlights critical issues such as server problems, bandwidth limitations, denial-of-service (DOS) attacks, dynamic IP address management, and security vulnerabilities. The report emphasizes the importance of robust security measures to protect consumer data stored within Amazon Web Services. It addresses how hackers exploit network weaknesses and unauthorized employee activities to compromise user accounts. Furthermore, the report discusses the impact of DOS attacks, where malicious actors overwhelm Amazon's servers with excessive traffic, leading to service disruptions. To mitigate these challenges, the report suggests implementing authorized servers, over-provisioning bandwidth, promptly identifying and addressing DOS attacks, and establishing strong communication with hosting providers. The analysis underscores the necessity for Amazon to continuously enhance its IT infrastructure and security protocols to maintain customer trust and operational efficiency. IT CHALLENGES FACED BY AMAZON

Information technology issues and challenges faced by Amazon
Amazon is one of the largest E-commerce organizations which provide various services
to their online shopping and cloud-based services. Security is the very important key
factor for any organization and use of information technologies are growing very fast by
which various security risks also increased (El, et al., 2016). There are following
information system issues faced by Amazon:
Server issues
Bandwidth issue
DOS attacks
Dynamic IP address issues
Security issues
Server issues
It is the very common problem for Amazon because when any person uses external web
hosting services then the hosting organization servers may be down. When any network
server is down by which website of Amazon is also down and customers are not able to
purchase any product (Hashem, et al., 2015). To reduce this type of problem Amazon
can adopt a backup plan and make sure their networks are providing services regularly.
Bandwidth issues
The bandwidth of amazon organization is very limited by which they are not able to
interconnect numbers of consumers at a time. If any business industry required making
large e-commerce for which they can adopt the high range of bandwidth. Therefore, any
user does not purchase more products at a time because it uses limited bandwidth and
to reduce this issue Amazon can use numbers of host’s networks (Jing, et al., 2014).
Dynamic IP address issues
Amazon uses large networks and communication system by which they are not able to
handle IP address of user’s peripheral device. A dynamic IP address is transferred with
other websites owners that can decree the stability to Amazon website and due to that
consumers can lose their privacy (Soomro, Shah, and Ahmed, 2016). There are many
hackers they use malware software’s to identify IP address of customer mobile devices
and they can lose information on their personal accounts.

Security issues
Information of any consumer is a very important part and Amazon store their private
details by using Amazon web services. Lack of security is a common information
technology issue which is faced by Amazon and other e-commerce (Jing, et al., 2014).
Hackers have the capability to break down networks of Amazon and many employees
use unauthorized websites and servers which are developed by attackers and they
collect login ID and password of users accounts. Therefore, Amazon is suffering from
this problem and to improve security they can adopt firewall and encryption techniques
because attackers use flooding process to block their servers.
Denial of service attack
It is a type of cyber-attack which is a very common problem of Amazon and in which
hackers produce botnet process to access organization servers. In this kind of attack,
many hackers send excessive and spam emails to Amazon accounts by which they can
control the servers of Amazon websites. It is observed that in the year 2017 around 512
GB traffic signals detected by the amazon server due to which many consumers faced
services issues (Jing, et al., 2014). The network will not able to determine unauthentic
servers which can lead security threats and many customers do not protect their
peripheral devices and Amazon account by which attacker easily find all private details
of their accounts like login ID and passwords. To reduce this type of problem Amazon
can use the following prevention steps:
Adopt authorized servers and follow proper configuration process
Overprovision bandwidth
Identify DOS attack and take action very fast
Contact to Amazon hosting providers
