INTRODUCTION
Work environment can be defined as a workplace that allows to promote the employees
so that they can perform their best level for the purpose of goal attainment and growth. Positive
environment is helpful for both employees and employers that further helps to enhance the level
of productivity, better morale and promotes collaboration. The report is going to highlight the
type of organisation and its purpose, goals and other relevant arrangements. The company
chosen for the project is Amazon which is an American multinational company and it is one of
the leading online retailer which also has an online presence (Cummings , 2018). The
competitors of the chosen company are Walmart, eBay, Flipkart, Otto, Alibaba, Newegg, online
stores and many others (Borisov and Siletsky, 2019). The report further outlines the values and
ethical practise within the chosen organisation such as dedicated HR team in their operations
that centers on solving the issues that faced by employees in referance to their jobs. The
mentioned company follows the laws and regulation that implied by the government on
employee safety. The company also provides the paid maternity leaves to their female employees
that create the values in the company operation and many others.

Type of organisation
All the company has its own type of organisational structure as all the companies have
various roles, rules and responsibilities which are required to be directed properly so that the
better de scions can be taken that will elevate the operating efficiency of the business. There are
various type of organisation structure which are explained below- Functional organisation structure- As it allows the employees to employees to focus on
their job role that further allows the specialization to help the team and various
departments to be more specific in their skills and various functions at the work place.
Such structure further divides the group on the basis of roles, responsibilities and
specialities. A functional structure is beneficial for the company as it allows the
departments to build trust among employees regarding their skills and expertise which are
essential and required to support their goals.

Hierarchical organisation structure- It is said to be the pyramid shaped and it is one of
the most common type of organisation structure that is better for the purpose of defining
the various level of authority and responsibility. This organisation is helpful for the
employees as they get a speciality between the employees and departments in order to
have clear paths that can bring more chances of the promotion. As it allows the
employees to know about specific projects and they can express their ides with the
company. Divisional organisation structure- Such structures makes the company to be more
flexible that will boost the independence and new customized approach. Under this,
division are made on the basis of region, territories and districts in order to stay close to
their customers (Parent and Lovelace, 2018).
Committee organisation- Under this type of organisation, the committee of the people
are formed for the purpose of giving advice on specific topics, important problems which
cannot be solved easily by an individual. It also supports in collecting the thoughts of
various persons on problems and its solution. Now-a-days many large companies
implement the network of committees to the line and staff organisation. Such committees
can be either permanent or temporary in order to serve the functions of the company
such as Research Committee, Purchase Committee, Education Committee, Co-ordination,
and Advisory Committee and many others. Line organisation- This type of organisation is also known as departmental type of
organisation (Setiyani, 2019). Under this all the business activities are divided into three
groups that is sales, finance and accounts and production. Above mentioned department
is further divided into certain other departments. This organisation is suitable for the large
size companies as the managers are not able to attention in every department of the
management. It becomes difficult for them to think and plan as they are busy and
occupied in the various tasks such as ordinary daily tasks such as production and selling.
Therefore, further dividing the work can be easy for the company in order to attain the
tasks such as work like , recording, planning,advising to managers, investigation(Whaley
and McJohn, 2021).
Matrix organisation- This organisation is in grid form under which in which the
employees who have similar skills and talents are grouped together and they are to

report to more than one manager. It also includes a functional manager who manges the
whole project and the progress of the company's strategy regarding product offerings. It
is mainly used by the large, multinational organizations that promotes the sharing of
skills and knowledge into various departments to complete goals and targets of the

company is stable and it also follows the rule that meeting s should be held in small teams so
that the various aspects can be tackled. The functions of the company are based on the structure
and the geographic divisions as there are many functions that includes the finance, human
resource, worldwide customers, worldwide operations, corporate affairs and many others.
Purpose
Purpose of the chosen organisation is to take care of the customers by providing them
best experience in order to attain the success by serving customers through online, physical
stores, internet, technology as it allows to reach out more customers in order to maximise the
success (Hansen, 2019).
Goals
The ultimate goal of the chosen company is to be one of the largest online retailer in the
market and serve the customers better by providing products at the lowest cost and with utmost
convenience. That can be done by using customer- centric approach, with more global reach and
with widest selection of products.
2. Values and ethical practise within the organisation
The mentioned company has the diverse work culture as well as they follows the several
ethical practices in their operations (Rostain, 2021). By the mentioned practices Amazon
develops the effective and efficient working environment in their organisation functions
(Bowles, 2020). These practices plays a vital role in order to enhance the productivity as well as
provides the advantage in order to achieve the organisation goal more significantly. In regard to

the mentioned discussion, below are the some values and ethical practises that followed by the
respective company in their organisation operations;
Safe and healthy workplace- The mentioned company has the numbers of employees in
their operations. The respective company provides the dedicated services to all the par-time as
well as full time worker (Calder, 2020). As they offers medical support, sick leaves as well as
other coverage that helps into securing the employees life. The respective company has the
dedicated HR team in their operations that focuses on solving the issues that faced by employees
in regard to their jobs. The mentioned company follows the laws and regulation that implied by
the government on employee safety. Amazon provides the paid maternity leaves to their female
employees that create the values in the company operations (Bark and Bell, 2019).
Diverse work culture- The respective company implied the strict laws and regulation in
their organization process in order to eliminate the threat of harassment as well as discrimination

the company goal. The respective company also provides the dedicated employee sessions that
focuses on develop the healthy lifestyle as well as also support their employee through the
mental health. Therefore, these process clearly stated that the respective company performs
dedicated valuable and ethical practices that improve the mentioned company image as well as
also developed the healthy work culture in the organisation
Development of sustainable approaches – The respective company focusing on planting the
trees as well as they also focusing in order to develop the sustainable approaches in their
operational functions (Alvarez and Sachs, 2021). As the mentioned company invested million of
dollar in the reforestation as well as developing the decarbonising process in their operations. As
they focusing on converting their complete operational process into a sustainable upcoming year.
The respective company also creating the renewable resources practises in their operations in

communication with all the employees about any issue and it also makes sure to recruit and
retain the diverse employees that can be advantage for the company as they have innovative and
new ides in the business. That will further lead to bring more new ideas and diversity of talent
that comes with new form of talent that will enhance the potential and overall productivity of the
company.
Disability- Amazon also makes sure to provide a range of accommodation that comprises of the
screen readers, magnification tools, voice dictation software, screen reader and many other
technologies (Sutcliffe, 2018). It can be said that human being who have some disability should
be treated equally to everyone else and the company is always there to support, recognize and
represent the voices of the employees at the every step of their working at the workplace.
Amazon also promotes and inspire the people with disabilities by adopting the ways to meet the
requirements and need of the individuals (Köse and Korkmaz, 2019).

It can be concluded from the above report that work environment is required to keep the
