Confederacy was one of the biggest steps that the United States had taken in its history.
The control was done by the Union and it had several advantages over the Confederacy. It must
be considered that the northern part of the country had larger population than the southern part.
The economic measure taken up by the North was due to the industrial one.1 On the contrary, the
economy of the Confederacy depended largely on its agriculture.
Therefore, the economic power of the Northern part was higher than the Southern
Confederacy. According to the research work, it has also been found that the Union possessed
the most natural resources in the region also. All these natural resources included the things like
iron, gold and coal.2 The market price of these resources was high and they took this advantage
greatly also. They had a very well developed railway system through which they could make the
transportation of these resources.
The resources of money had belonged to the North. This is why it was almost impossible
for the South to borrow the money to continue with their fight. The Union also had a naval force
but the Confederacy could not afford it. Therefore, they had to depend on the private ships.
Confederacy might have better officers but the number of soldiers was almost double for the
North. Evidently, these advantages had led the Union to dominate over the Confederacy had
completely destroy them with their military forces and monetary power in the last chapter of
their war.
