During the industrial revolution work experience was completely transformed as the
British banned the immigration of people who possessed specialized skills in the
manufacturing process. The workers helped in building improved mechanism for the textile
manufacturing. The women working in the Lowell factory enjoyed great earning
opportunities whereas after a certain period of time they suffered from exploitation at the
hands of their employers that led to the formation of Lowell Factory Girls association for the
protection of their rights. The employers produced their opinion that women were paid
excellent wages whereas women workers complained that the monetary gains could not make
up for the sufferings they experience at the workplace.
Question 2
The invention of cotton grin helped the textile industry to manufacture cotton textile
as it separated the cotton fibers from the seeds and the shells which helped in the
manufacturing process. The railroad system provided boost to the network of transportation
that accelerated the industrial revolution and helped in the growth of American commerce.
The railroads were the main connection between America and the countries with which they
carried on trade activities and provided job opportunities to the skilled people in America.

The middle class followed the values of cleanliness, moral values and manners. They
adopted themselves in the educational process which helped in self-improving. They focused
in teaching themselves the skills that were necessary in the working sphere to get
employment. The elite class which was above them at the social structure gained the
prominence in social and political sphere and they followed no specific values but rather

two classes in their values showed that they both had different set of values for maintain
status in the society.

Jackson promoted the growth of democracy which led to the formation of the
Democratic Party which was not promoted by the earlier presidents. He focused on the equal
political policy which provided equal rights to every individual. He promoted that the
congress in the state should be given strength in the matters of the country by having equal
say in the politics of the country. It was he who advocated the growth of elected
representatives for the government rather than the appointed leaders. This gave power to the
people to choose their representatives.

Alex de Tocqueville was a French scientist of political activities who published his
works on American diplomacy. In both the works he published he argued that there should be
a well maintained relationship between the individual and the state authorities which will
help in the smooth functioning of the society. The mention in the chapter reveals that he
holds an important stature in the American history through his propounded theories. The
young Americans preferred him because of his theories that established the importance of
harmony among all the classes that exist in the society.
