Information Centric Networking: Analysis, Features, and Applications

This report analyzes Information Centric Networking (ICN) by comparing it to Host Centric Networking. The study examines the functionalities, naming structures, and security aspects of ICN, highlighting the benefits of caching and the limitations in its architecture. The research investigates the unresolved areas of ICN services, including naming, routing, caching, and data security. It also explores the application of ICN in business development and its impact on service quality, including interoperability issues. The report recommends further investigation into mitigation strategies for the identified limitations of ICN.

Summary:
After analyzing the article it has been noticed that the fundamental purpose of this
study is to analyze the functionalities of the Information Centric Networking (ICN) as the
application of host centric networking is unable for provide effective services to the current
internet architecture. Followed by the above purpose, the study has further continued by
comparing and contrasting the functionalities and features of Host centric and Information
Centric Networking. Apart from that in order to provide a detail explanation on the
operations and services of the Internet Centric Networking (ICN) an investigation has been
conducted in order to analyze the threat factors present in the working process of Information
Centric Networking. Followed by the above aspects the researcher of this study has primarily
objectified the unresolved area of the services of Internet Centric Networking in order to
provide an overall idea of ICN approach, those unresolved areas includes the naming
structure of the information resources, information routine and resolution, aspects related to
the Caching of the data, information resource mobility as well as one of the most significant
aspect which is the data security and privacy. Along with the above aspects the incorporation
of ICN in the business and its service quality has also been discussed in this study.
Methods and Findings:
After analyzing the methods which has been used to identify the desire findings it has
been noticed that this study has opted to analyze several studies related to the IT
communication and networking as well as the researcher has also investigated the services of

Host Centric Networking and Information Centric Networking. Followed by the mentioned
research methods this study has effectively determines the aspects which has made difference
between the Host Centric Networking and Information Centric Networking. Those identified
aspects includes the naming structure of the information which stands for denoting unique
name for the individual information resources which are location independent. Apart from
that the difference between the Host centric approach and ICN approach has stated that there
is less security aspects present in the application of ICN, however the approach of ICN has
offers effective caching process for the information resources. After analyzing the similarities
and difference of the approaches of Host centric and ICN, this research as effective analyses
the unresolved factors of the ICN services which includes the security threat related to the
naming structure of the information resources. From the analysis of the application of ICN in
the business development it has determined that however ICN offers effective information
transaction, there are still some limitations present in the architecture of ICN as this can
cause, issues related to the interoperability in the organization structure.
Recommendation:
After analyzing this article which is based on the analysis of the application of
Information Centric Networking several aspects has been noticed which has provided good
knowledge about the operations of ICN. However, as per my view point I feel that the
researcher must opt to analyze and mention the possible mitigation approaches for the
identified limitations in this study. Thus, it is recommended to the author to include the
investigation on the approaches which can help to mitigate the limitations factors present in
the operations of the ICN.
