INTRODUCTION
In life, there are various significant events which directly or indirectly supports or assist
the people. Every individual experiences various events since from their birth. These events can
be positive as well as negative in nature where positive events changes the life of the individual
in a positive manner whereas negative events have affects the individual adversely. Therefore,
when a person experiences changes which has affected them in negative manner then they will
require appropriate and suitable support through which they can over come this problem. Life
event undertaken in this report is Parkinson’s disease which is occurred with the disorder of
nervous system which affects the movement (Billieux and. et. al., 2015). This report will explain
the effectiveness of organisational policies and procedures in supporting individuals and their
social networks affected by significant life events. It will determine the suitability of external
sources and the manner in which others provide support to individual experiences. It will analyse
possible organisational responses and reflection on own personal contributions will be done by
considering recommendations.
TASK2
2.1 Evaluation of effectiveness of organisational policies and procedures.
Organisations have different policies and procedures for those people who have suffered
the occurrences of significant events in which they have lose their closed ones. Every
organisation has a very crucial functioning in the event of losing a person who are suffering from
Parkinson’s disease. This further minimises the morale of the workers and has significant impact
on the working of the organisation. Furthermore, the effectiveness and efficiency of the workers
are also gets affected (Chiu, 2014). People who are working in health and social organisation,
has a wider horizon in which they will deal with numerous patients who are suffering from
Parkinson’s disease. Therefore, when a person loses their breathe, it becomes very important for
the organisation to keep the situation under control. The effectiveness of organisational policies
and procedures in supporting individuals and their social networks is discussed below :
An interactional group discussion is organised to critically review the before sadness and
after sadness conditions of the employees. Policies and procedures shuffle staff members
to make out with the situations which is needed to be initiated subsequently after the
death of patient. Apart from this, by monitoring the time duration gap between the

execution and projected time, the relevancy of the process is assessed (Zimbardo and
Boyd, 2015).
The evaluation is made about the process which is adopted by the organisation and staff
members of the health and social which helps in supporting the relatives of the patients
who are suffering from Parkinson’s disease. This evaluation is a step by step process.
2.2 Social networks may provide support to individuals who are suffering from Parkinson’s
disease.
An individual who is suffering from Parkinson’s disease requires effective care and is
very important to deal with it. This can affect the various parts of human body and specially
brain. Apart from this, it also affects the health of the person mentally and physically by
affecting the various neurons of brains, genes, presence of lewy body, etc. In such situations, it
becomes very difficult for the individual to deal and cope up with such occurrences and the
social networks like friends, family and other people with whom the person is surrounded plays a
very vital role in proving adequate assistance to the individuals (Creech and. et. al., 2014). They
try their best to keep the patient happy by talking to them, taking them to the gardens, making
their surroundings joyful and keeping them busy, etc. Apart from this, the social networks with
whom the patient is close will take the following steps to make the sufferer out of the situation :
Family members and care takers must focus on giving proper and timely medicines and
treatment to the individual so that no obstacle can affect the treatment.
Financial help is also important for the effective treatment which will assess the
procedure of the treatment and this help can be offered by the social networks by
understanding the situation.
Apart from this, it is essential to offer immediate help and support to the person who is
suffering from Parkinson’s disease and this support can be given in medical terms and
morally. It is required that immediate medial help is given to the patient so that it
minimises the chances of delay in treatment and same way moral support of relatives and
closed ones is given to the patient and their family members so that they does not lose
hope.
2.3 Suitability of external source for supporting those who are affected by Parkinson’s disease.
Apart from social networks, there are various other external sources who helps and
supports the individuals who are affected by Parkinson’s disease and they are discussed below :

Doctors : They are the individuals to whom the sufferer is approaches and needs their
guidance (Donaldson-Andersen, 2017). They tell the patient about what actually they are
suffering from, what all actions they must take in order to over come with this situation,
the kind of medical treatment which is necessary in order to assess the health of the
patient, etc.
Care taker or Nurses : They are the individuals who are hired from some reliable
sources who have reliable knowledge and experience regarding the condition of the
patient and can handle the situation and patient effectively and efficiently (Tang and. et.
al., 2014). They takes care of all the requirements of the patients from medicines, foods,
to the entertainment.
Financial institutions : It is considered as the place from where people can borrow
money and in such diseases the patient may require huge sum of money and with the help
of medical insurances, they can claim the amount of money which has been used in the
treatment. Thus, this provides them with financial help.
TASK3
3.1 Analyses of the possible organisational responses to the need made by health and social
support individuals.
Organisations offers two main responses to the people who needs support from health
and social aspects (Hutchison, 2018). These responses can be planned or emergency in nature. In
planned responses, the system of health and social organisation will evaluate the previous data
and information about the significant life events which are experienced by the individuals and on
the basis of that data or information, they will identify the restrictions or problems and then they
will develop programs, policies and procedures to minimise the impact of Parkinson’s diseases in
future course of actions. On contrary, the emergency responses are concerned with the
emergency or contingency events of individuals and their experiences. These emergency can be
relatable to date, time and money where organisation may be aware but it is difficult to analyse
the response of the individual in such conditions.
3.2 Reflection on own personal contribution on Parkinson’s disease.
An individual who is suffering from Parkinson’s disease which has significant and life
changing impact on individual needs support and assistance. My experience in dealing and
Document Page
coping up with such situation is very difficult I am emotionally weak person and seeing the grief
and pain of that person was very tough for me. When I was working in health and social
organisation and had assisted my co worker while dealing with the patient then I came to know
that the incident from which individual has gone through was very shocking and unexpected.
After imagining the consequences of this disease, I have started working with my co worker for
taking various steps which were undertaken for the benefit of the individual. I have tried to guide
the person and their social networks to provide proper financial aid and moral support to the
patient so that quick recovery can take place. I have also taken help of my professional contacts
through which proper and effective medication can be given to the person.
3.3 Recommendation
For improving the support available in a health and social care organisation for
individuals and their social networks when affected by Parkinson’s disease, the organisation can
take various steps and they are discussed below :
Organisation can offer proper staying facility for the social networks that is friends and
families such that it will not create disturbance in the organisation and will also not
restrict the relatives and friends of the to meet the patient.
They should bring modifications and alternations in the policies which helps in
maximising the number of leaves which are granted to the patient who are experiencing
significant life events like assisting them financially, etc.
Furthermore, they should change the organisational structure of health and social care
such that proper treatment can be done for this diseases by opening more departments and
hiring more experienced workforce.
CONCLUSION
From the above report it has been concluded that life is very unpredictable and it has
various events which are required to be enjoyed. Those events which has significant impact on
the mental and physical health of the individuals must be handled properly such that the person is
able to cope up with those circumstances. This will require various social networks supports and
external environment support to the people which will maximise their morale and will power.
