INTRODUCTION
Sustainable tourism is found to be a major trend in the tourism sector which is increasing
every day. It becomes not only a trend but also necessity for protecting our environment which
get exploited with the tourism activity (Mihalic and et.al., 2021). This is the reason that now
government is focusing on promoting responsible tourism which provides a great impact on
economy, society and environment. In this context, Eden Project, Cornwall is undertaking that
shows sustainable and responsible tourism in UK. It is found that this is a popular eco attraction
place which has to buy items that contains plants from many diverse environment and climates.
This report will be discussing the concept of sustainable and responsible tourism which is very
important in today’s environment. In addition to this, it will also cover role, mission and function
of leading global organisation in the promotion of responsible tourism. There will be a
discussion of principles of tourism development and planning which helps to minimise adverse
effect of tourism. For that purpose, there will be a discussion of investigation of impact of

reason that now governments are supporting concept of responsible and sustainable tourism in
country so that they are able to maintain the ecosystem. It becomes very essential in today’s
environment because every day the population and pollution both are increasing at a rapid rate. It
is found in the year 1989 that sustainable tourism got international recognition and Paris at G7
economic summit. During the summit, there were many leaders of democratic countries

participated and raised an important point that how they can protect their ecosystem. The reason
behind that was all democratic countries found that environment was getting exploited everyday
by the human activities and it is increasing because of tourism also. That means they noticed
tourism place a very important role in the exploitation of environment (Pope and et.al., 2019). So
that’s why they pointed out and important topic in order to protect their environment with the
help of formulating effective international environmental policies. After this in 1992, UNCED
took place which was a meeting that review a Bruntland report. In this review, government has
taken some immediate and serious actions in order to protect ecosystem. It is identified that the
concept of sustainable development was introduced in 1996 which states that it is very important
for every country that they should ensure about their tourism activity.
Tourism should be fully responsible towards social, cultural, economical and
environmental aspects. In today's environment, sustainable development is considered as the
most appropriate concept as it becomes the need of valuable tourist. The reason of protecting
environment is to provide something good to our future generations as they also deserve the
benefits of natural environment (George, 2017). Responsible tourism is considered as tourism
was dedicated to make better places for people so that they can visit and live. It requires
government, operators, hoteliers, local people and tourist who are able to take responsibility in
order to make more sustainable tourism. This can be better understanding the discussion of Eden
