This post is about Blackberry and how competition in market has affected its business
process. Blackberry, established in 1999 was one of the prominent player in market, but as
new companies entered into this consumer electronics market it could not maintain its market
dominance (Muthukumar, Ramakrishnan & Krishnamacharyulu, 2017). This post has
described it beautifully how Blackberry from a being market leader become less significant
as it was not capable of managing competition and innovation that these competitors offered
to their consumers through their products. This post provides a comprehensive idea that
innovation is important even for a company that is already established in market. Blackberry
already established it in market as a premium phone manufacturer and also ensured consumer
loyalty. Therefore, when new company like Apple and Google entered into this market, it did
not provide importance to those competitors (Kimball, 2017). But these companies kept on
innovating to offer consumers products of superior quality in a competitive price that is less
compared to what Blackberry charged its consumers for its flagship phones. As a result, there
was a significant decline in popularity of its phones and affected its market share as well.
A CATWOE analysis is provided in this post with reference to this organizational problem
and along with this a system thinking approach is also provided to identify an effective
solution to this organizational problem. This system thinking tool has provided a detailed
description regarding how Blackberry would retain its market value. Therefore, this post has
not only analysed issues in terms of organizational strategies of Blackberry, but it has also
provided strategies regarding how to resolve these issues for enhancing its business process
as well.
