INTRODUCTION
Aim of conducting this report is to analyse and evaluate the role of different functions of
organisation (Tauer, Fried and Fry, 2017). These functions are very important in order to
successfully perform business task successful. Chosen company for this report is Tesco. This is
UK based company which is dealing in retail sector.
MAIN BODY
Role of departments
There are different functions with in the Tesco organisation that performed by different
departments (Shah, 2018). Each department of business includes different role which impact on
overall performance of business. The purpose and role of department is mention below in detail -
Marketing – The role of marketing department is to develop effective strategies that is
significant for successfully providing its products and services to customers (Feng,
Huang and Avgerinos, 2018). It includes creating awareness about offering of company
to market area as well as promoting products for attracting more customers.
Production/operation - The production or operational department role is to develop high
quality products and services in order to satisfy the needs of customers (Genovese and
et.al, 2020). It includes that production department create products which is accurate to
market demand and enhance performance of Tesco business.
Finance – The role of finance department is to provide accurate budgets and financial
resources to all department so that all functions can be performed in effective and
efficient manner (Adams and Hunter, 2019). Finance department role is to correctly
manage the financial resources of business in order to attain more profits.
Human resource – Human resource department role is to recruit and select correct
candidate who have required skill to successfully perform business practices (Shen and
Benson, 2016). Its role is to provide correct training to employees as well as developing
needed skills with the motive of increase capability and performance.

Importance of department
It is crucial that all departments are working together and effectively with the motive of
successfully attaining required set of goals. The major department of Tesco organisation such as
human resource, finance, marketing and operation should be working together as it will lead to
have major impact on overall functioning of business (Galli, 2017). Finance department of Tesco
company will be providing correct amount of budget of different department as per the need.
This is significant for correctly carry out different functions of organisation and enhance
practices. Marketing department is essential for attracting large number of customers towards
business (Moestedt and et.al., 2016). This department will collect information form market about
need or want of customers and provide gathered information to operation department of business.
Production department is importance for creating effective products to meet demand of
customers and saving cost of business operations. Human resource department will provide
training to all employees of different department so that they can perform business task in more
effective and efficient manner.
CONCLUSIONS
From the above report it can be concluded it is essential for organisation to effectively
perform different function of business with the motive of successfully attain business goals. It is
essential that all functions are working together and attain common goals of business.
