INTRODUCTION
The report aims to talk about the roles and responsibilities of a teacher in prison
environment. There is requirement of teaching practices in order to influence the learners
through promoting a positive environment (Novek, 2019). It takes a lot of efforts for a prison
tutor to understand and analyse the needs of individuals and make them engage towards potential
practices. Therefore, it promotes education and learning new things for prisoners. This will
require various legislation and codes of practices to promote equality, diversity, behaviour and
respect into the prison environment.
MAIN BODY
TASK
Roles and responsibilities as a tutor by focusing to the prison setting environment.
A tutor plays an important role in teaching to the students to make them learn about new
skills and values. By focusing on the learning environment, it is crucial for analysing various
responsibilities which should be fulfil by an educator. In setting learning classes for the
prisoners, being a teacher I have responsibility to look at their poor conditions, understand their
values and nature, make an interesting environment whether the prison is of less interesting area.
So, I need to develop an environment which helps in motivating prisoners to get rid of with guilt
and regrets for the crime they have done and make their mind divert by learning new knowledge
and information (Ginsburg, ed., 2019). I need to look at the safety and care of the prisoners while
conducting rehabilitation and social re-integration programmes. This shows that, I can be able to
make the prison environment engaging and cooperative which will develop some great values
among them. There is requirement of the key potential service which needs to be taken care of
the prison setting.
Summarise key areas of legislation and code of practice which impact on the teaching in prison.
Prison teaching and learning takes place within the prison which consist many kinds of
programmes which are welfare of the prisoners and include some great values in the individuals.
There are several sources like literacy, vocational education and patriotic education. There are
many legislations and codes of practices which needs to be taken into considerations while

teaching prisoners. Health and safety act must be followed to maintain their mental and physical
well-being and treat them as a human being. Federal prison growth must be maintained through
promoting education and training. It would impact on the roles and responsibilities of the
teachers while focusing on the prisoners understanding.
Ways to promote equality and diversity
In prison environment, promoting equality and diversity is an essential aim for very teaching
practices. It is a must code of practices which creates a positive and motivated learning area
when all the individuals get treated with same behaviour and attitude. I would promote equality
and diversity in the prison learning by forming key essential practices like treating them with
same attitude and improve their mind-set towards learning. No individuals are liable to get
unnecessary special treatment in the prisoner environment (Selling, 2019). This shows that, it is
potential to get laid out of the diversity by ensuring involvement of every background people.
Therefore, I provide group task and activity through which, all the individuals are able to interact
with each other and participate in forming relationship. The more they will be able to interact
with each other, the more they will seek interest in learning effectively. Also, ensuring classroom
with different background prisoners will make the classroom more interesting by interacting with
their values and cultures to keep them engaged and listened. This code of practice is important to
identify learning needs of the learners (Chandler, 2018). It will analyse what lessons the
individual should learn during their course of period.
Explain what makes an environment safe and supportive and how to create this
In teaching and learning, the learners should feel safe and protective during the working. It
can be done through promoting safe practices to how the learners will be able to take this off
from the working. It can be created through ensuring using effective equipment’s and tools as
teaching aids. In prison environment, I would like to promote safety and culture through using
safety precautions and tools while delivering learning activities in an appropriate manner.
Therefore, it is assured that, all the individuals will feel protected and harm should be done to
their physical and mental health. It makes an environment supportive and safe as being a teacher,
I need to focus on any unusual activity which gets perform in the learning environment. It will
have negative impact on the learners and it might get involve them in miss-happening or unkind
acts (Kamrath, and Gregg, 2018). Therefore, promoting safe environment could be done through

generating great values and makes their good relations for creating an imperative and
coordinated classroom.
Why appropriate behaviour and mutual respect is important
In every field whether it is on professional or academic level, it is necessary to promote
behaviour and mutual respect among each other. It is believed that, the way an individual will
treat people, the same ways they will be treated (Gray, Ward, and Fogarty, 2019). For that
instance, appropriate behaviour must bee maintain in the classroom so that, it would not hurt
sentiments of others. The prisoners have to engage in such practices to communicate with others
about good and inspirational things, greet tutors with respect and keep a sense of belongingness.
It shows that, an appropriate behaviour will be focused on the key aspect mutual understanding is
necessary. This shows that, behaviour and mutual respect is a part of learning programmes that
creates values and ethical consideration which is necessary for creating a well learning
environment (Conway, 2022). Behaviour. These include honesty, integrity and trustworthiness
among the learning area. Therefore, when individuals have these behaviour, they are likely to get
engage with the teachers and promote coordination and cooperation. When appropriate
behaviour and respect gets into the lead, all the prisoners will set mutual respect towards each
other. There is requirement of key aspects like group discussions, quizzes and interactive
sessions.
Explain other professionals with which work alongside in prison setting
In prison setting, working with other professionals is also necessary which is appropriate to
create better learning environment. It is important to get knowledge and information from other
as well. Experts guidance are required in the field of education even in prison group. Therefore,
professional behaviour is regarded as best development practices which will enhance own
growth and development in the teaching. In order to teach to students and prisoners, a teacher
have much necessary skills and knowledge to deliver it to the students. These professionals’
experts help in guiding us for every stage of teaching practice. In prison setting, there is
requirement of experts to deal with prisoners and understand their needs and wants (Payne, and
Bryant, 2018). Therefore, in prison setting, it is vital to have all the knowledge and
understanding to interact with these people who do not have much hopes to live life. These
professional can be prison leader, committees and government as well. These personalities know

better that how to treat them and provide worth learning. This shows that, teaching in prison
require effective deliveries and interactive sessions for ensuring their engagement.
Why other professionals must be involving, limits of professional role and key points of referral.
The role of professionals is must in the teaching to the prisoners. They must be involving in
taking decisions for carrying out task and activities. Therefore, working with professionals’
impact on the learning quality and behaviour of learners as well. The professionals are a part of
prison setting who set standards and policies for the development of prison rules and create a fair
working environment (Kallman, 2018). Therefore, it is crucial to have engagement of the
professionals in order to meet with the demand of the learners. I have limit to professional role
and key points of referral as I do not interfere in asking irrelevant question, make unnecessary
relations and behave in an honest way.

individual life. Therefore, all the teaching will be done for the betterment of the prisoners in
order to make valuable decisions. Also, it assures that, there is key requirement of taking help
with other professionals in order to get updates and knowledge of attitude about the prisoners.
