1.1 Executive Summary
The main purpose of the report is to analyse different functions of business
and how they work together to attain organisational objectives. In the present report,
Asda is used as an organisation to gain better understanding about business
functions.

1.2 Introduction
Business function is defined as the activities that is carried out by an
organisation with the objective to attain objective within set time period. There are
different business functions such as Marketing, Finance, Human resource and many
more. For the present report, Asda is taken into consideration. It is a British
supermarket chain which was established in year 1949 and headquartered in
England, UK (Valcik, Sabharwal and Benavides, 2021). The report will cover role of
business function along with its importance to an organisation when they work
together.
1.3 Marketing
It is defined as set of activities which is related to communicating, exchanging
and delivering offers which have value for others. Marketing is done by an
organisation with the help of marketing mix model that involve 4P’s such as product,
price, place and promotion. In relation to Asda, the company market its product both
online and offline which help in reaching large number of customer in less time
period (Thomsen and Thomsen, 2021). In addition to this, it also uses various
promotional tools such as social media, websites and many more which allow Asda
to increase sales and profitability in an effective manner.
1.4 Finance
It is an important business function that includes acquiring as well as
utilization of finance necessary for implementation of activities and meet with the
targets of company. In relation to Asda, its higher ensure that finance is available for
all the activities so that activities can be implemented without any issues and
interruptions (Sinkovics and et.al., 2021). Moreover, its finance department ensure
proper management of funds which leads to attainment of profitability and high
revenue as well.
1.5 Human Resources
The HR department of the company is tasked is to maximise the employees
productivity and protecting the issues that may airs in the workplace. The main role
of the HR is to include different compensation strategies and benefits to recruit the

1.6 Operations/ Production
This department ensure the production process which helps the company like
Asda to complete their production from starting to end. The manager of the
respective company try to provide the constant oversight on the effective production
process and make sure that their employees perform systematically in their assigned
tasks (Mahmoudian and et.al., 2021). The company use their resources and make
their final commodities through a set of effective and clear policies that are further
helps in generating sustainable environment.
1.7 How Business Functions link Together
All of these above mentioned business functions are helpful for working
together and make a success in future growth. The use of these functions are able to
create the expansion in the national or international market. The above mentioned
functions basically for make success within the market. Asda, make an effective
business link in between their all business function and achieve development into the
market and expand their sales and revenue in UK market. HR department recruit the
staff and provide training for them, finance department make appropriate funds for
the company. Marketing improve the sales promotion and operation departments
helps in managing the production (Hutt and Speh, 2021). So, it can be said that the
use of these business functions help the company to work appropriately and achieve
future success and development into international boundaries.
1.8 Conclusions
From the above report, it has been concluded that the use of these
businesses functions are important and helpful for the growth. The need is that the
company is required to complete the work and manage harmony to provide
systematic growth into the market. It is determined that these business functional
department are interlinked with each other and make systematic progress into their
daily based operations. Which directly make a strong impact on the growth of the
sales and revenue. Furthermore, this process helps the company to attract large
number of audience and achieve their business objective effectively.
