Educational equality is when student from different social and religious backgrounds are
able to get an equal representation in the society and above all in their school. As per my image
of educational equality/equity, students must be getting equal opportunities of pursuing their
interests and also openly communicate their feelings and their ideas. Teachers teaching in the
classes must have an unbiased point of view and must be treating all their students with equal
amount of love and affection (Lee & Hanna,2015). They must make sure that all the students are
getting freedom and no one is becoming the victim of discrimination or bullying. Therefore it
must be ensured that the during any contest like cycling context the distribution of the cycles
must take place properly in a equitable manner. This will ensure that all the participants are
getting a proper representation in the contests. For an example if there is any cycling competition
being conducted it must be ensured that the contest coordinators or the event managers are being
able to distribute same size cycles to the same size or the able students and differently sized
cycles to the different sized or the differently able or disabled students. This will ensure that
none of the students are being ignored or insulted on the account of their physical deformity.

a) What are the educational strengths of Connor, Kelsy, Eton, Tammy, and Sam?

Connor- Theory of Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs is holds good in this aspect because it is evident
that Connor is suffering from the lack of the basic necessities of life. It must be seen that in order
to study well and shine in life individuals must be getting a good food, clothing and shelter
supply. Physiological needs or the basic needs for food and home us absent in this case. Connor
suffers from the lack of enough food and shelter. He is homeless and thus always feels tired and
hungry.He is currently having no educational strength
Kelsy has everything that an individual needs in life. However she lacks motivation and never
gets any kinds of praises from her family. It is for this reason that she is always suffering from
nervousness. Herzberg’s theory holds good here. Just as employees need certain motivation
factors, same is the case with students (Alshmemri, Shahwan-Akl & Maude, 2017). As Kelsy is
not getting any praise or recognition she is demotivated. She has a good educational skill and can
complete her homework’s but needs to be encouraged by family
Elton- Elton has witness the horrors of war and destruction. He is detaches from his parents and
is living along with his uncle. Though he is having a shelter and clothes he is suffering from the
lack of safety needs and social needs ( Lee & Hanna, S.2015). As far as the Maslow’s Need
Hierarchy theory, an individual must have proper safety and security along with the affection of
near and dear ones. Elton must be given proper language training so that he can carry on the
education.
Tammy-Tammy has the ability to study but stays unwell due to the lack of love and affection
from parents. Though Tammy’s parents are divorced but they still try to stay active in the school
and help Tammy study well by overcoming all challenges.

Sam-He is a good student and is brilliant in Maths. He likes to solve tough sums and also help
the classmates to do their work. However he suffers from boredom as he lacks refreshment in
life.
b) What are the educational needs of Connor, Kelsy, Eton, Tammy, and Sam?
Connor- The most essential educational need is counseling along with a good housing and
fooding facility. Family counseling is needed so that they can overcome the trauma of
homelessness and poverty
Kelsy-She must be given a proper motivation in order to work hard and get a proper educational
degree.
Elton- Elton must be given language training on English. He understands little English and might
not be able to study during classroom sessions.
Tammy-The educational need is to keep her calm during classroom sessions so that she does not
get angry. She must be given the help of a guide who will enrich her listening and writing skills.
Sam- He must be given proper guide to take interest in other subjects along with Mathematics.
C)What skills and resources would you need to address Connor, Kelsy, Eton, Tammy, and
Sam’s educational strengths and needs?

He must be given resources like housing, food and clothing facility. Apart from this he must be
given a good mental counseling facility at school to come out from the trauma of poverty
Kelsy-She must be given timely motivations like some exciting educational excursions, some
awards so that she is able to motivate herself
Elton-resources like linguistic trainers, good communication classes on English along with good
coaches must be given so that he can develop the skill of reading, writing and also understanding
English. The other resources might include a good teacher who will be able to communicate on a
regular bias and guide him throughout.
Tammy-Educational resources like child behavioral therapy, child counseling sessions and others
must be given. This will help her to work over her erratic behaviors. As her parents are separated
some family help expert mist be arranged who will be helping Tammy to deal with these
tensions.
Sam- Sam is very good in mathematics and is always keen in solving tough sums. Therefore ea
good mathematics coach must be able to help him and guide hum further. Apart from these
resources like books on literature, geography, social science and many other subjects must also
be given so that he can develop his interest towards other streams apart from math.
d) Considering their strengths and needs, how would placement in a general class room
benefit Connor, Kelsy, Eton, Tammy, and Sam?

Connor –He will not fit well as he does not have a house and his family suffers from utter
poverty. He might be nervous, malnourished, and angry or even be bullied by other students
Kelsy- She will be able to fit in properly and will be able to understand the classroom lessons.
However she suffers from restlessness and lack of motivation. Thus she might often fall behind
her classmates
Eton- He will not fit well in general classroom as he has language problems. He does not
understand English and cannot follow the class properly.
Tammy- Tammy will get good support from her parents. However as her parent are separated
she might feel unwell during the class hours.
Sam- He will fit well in the general math’s classes as he likes that subject. He will also be helpful
towards friends. However at times he needs to be cheered up as he gets bored.
